Had he attacked Obama and allowed Sarah to bring up Rev. Wright, Bill Ayers, dope, birth certificates, etc. as she wanted to, we might have a very different looking country right about now. So as far as I am concerned Ms. Meghan the spoiled brat blabbermouth can sit down and shut up!
I’m trying to figure out what the downside is to the extinction of the Republican party. I think both parties have gotten us into this mess and it would be a step in the right direction if they both disappeared.

If it portends the beginning of a new Conservative Party, bring it on; let it end. If not, conservatives have to recapture the existing Republican Party from the progressives who seem to have infested it. That means no Newt (though I’d love to see him clean Obama’s clock in the debates).

And what would rise from the ashes, I wonder? Could it be that we could have a new party that is all about the Constitution, as written (not interpreted), with limits on the subject of statute to that which is explicitly permitted by that document? With a tradition of applying reasonable sunset provisions to laws about temporary or changing conditions? To proposing bills that cover only a single subject, and with amendments pertaining only to the subject matter of the bill, and not be a "holiday tree" for marginal legislation?
That would be a party worth joining. At least, as long as the members of the party resist gaming the whole thing to their personal benefit, unlike the members of the two (and probably more) existing parties...
