My Time at Walmart: Why We Need Serious Welfare Reform
TheCollegeConservative ^ | 12/13/2011 | Christine Rouselle

Posted on 12/13/2011 12:23:23 PM PST by gabriellah

During the 2010 and 2011 summers, I was a cashier at Wal-Mart #1788 in Scarborough, Maine. I spent hours upon hours toiling away at a register, scanning, bagging, and dealing with questionable clientele. These were all expected parts of the job, and I was okay with it. What I didn’t expect to be part of my job at Wal-Mart was to witness massive amounts of welfare fraud and abuse.

All that fraud is known.
I am a conservative and hate the concept of those handouts.
However, can somebody answer me an honest question:

In any population you have a percentage of useless, lazy, dumb people. Who have no interest in working at all, ever - they just want to sit on their butt and watch TV and play XBox.

If those people don’t get their Gov handouts, they have 2 options: get a Job or do Crime.

If they get a Job they, are lazy bums and will work as such ,they can only get employment with US Government - anybody who been to DMV or USPS knows how valuable those ex-welfare Queens are.

The second option is to do crime. One can say: well if they steal they get locked up. Good! Now what is the cost of Arrest,Trial,lawyers,judges,etc.. and then 50K per year to keep them in Jail? It seems to me giving them Section8, food-stamps,and welfare is cheaper, then either employing them or Jailing them?

I understand its a short term solution, considering the scum procreate.

We must totally derail the gravy train.

Yep. I didn't add on my earlier comment that while state and local governments are the legal places for charity, if anywhere, I would argue that it is not the proper role of any government at any level to take the earnings of one individual and bestow them on another, simply for charity. That debate, though, should be at the local or state level, not federal.

For one, the argument is philosophical; the other is a constitutional argument.

I have never bought even $400 worth of groceries at once in my life.

I do every month or close too it but I buy mainly for the month. I pay cash.

People on the dole shouldn’t be permitted to vote.

Frustratin’ ain’t it...

What's really frustrating is that you've been tasked with the question about what YOU would do but have ignored the question.......

I still don’t get the “you guys” bit. I will do OK I guess, but I refuse to call SS “welfare, “ and will call out anybody who does.

She pimps her blog on various sites hoping to get enough blog hits to afford a semblance of relevance.

And you of course point that fact out on each of those sites hoping to gain your own semblance of relevance........

No, sorry. I don't visit hardly any blogs.

Maybe once each to see first hand the lameness and advertisements.

I stay off of blogs, they suck and are full of viruses.
You should too. Besides, there is no fact checking at blogs.

Blogtards can claim the giant toads ate Atlanta this morning.

Fact is.. it likely didn't happen.

MAINE. The Maine Heritage Policy Center (MHPC) released a 35-page report examining Maine’s vast welfare system to provide an in-depth look at the causes of Maine’s growing government dependency crisis.
September 9, 2010

Fixing the System: Freeing Maine Families from Welfare Dependency http://www.mainefreedomforum.com/fix-the-system-freeing-maine-families-from-welfare-dependency/
Today, almost one in three Mainers is trapped in the welfare system. Let me repeat that: almost one in three people in Maine are on some type of welfare program. All this, despite the fact that Maine has a poverty rate below the national average.

In Maine right now, 29 percent of the total population is on some form of welfare. By any measure, Maine is the most welfare dependent state in the nation. Maine ranks second in the nation in the percent of its population on Food Stamps, second for TANF cash assistance, and second for Medicaid.

good gravy train. you paid way more in taxes than i earned at my customer service gig to take care of myself, a wife, five kids, and two grandkids. but then . . . we receive c. 5K tax refund each year. not fair. you should pay less. i should pay more. i hope you enjoy great success at what you do, and enjoy what you do for a living.
