Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney has fallen below 50 percent on InTrade for the first time since the beginning of October, as former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich has seen his fortunes on the prediction market rise.

A trade at 7:28 this morning valued Romney as having just a 49.3 percent chance to win the GOP nomination. He peaked at over a 70 percent chance at the beginning of November, amid Herman Cain's collapse in the polls.

Romney can't win a two person race. His only hope was that a large number of conservative candidates would split up the “Anyone but Romney” vote. But there aren't that many conservatives remaining. If Cain drops out, as there appears to be some hints he might, then there might not be any at all. So you end up with Romney or Gingrich. Neither a hard core conservative. But Newt will get the ABR vote by default.

I think this proves that what is good for Newt, is bad for Romney. Which is a good thing in my book.

Folks forget, that for all the MSM’s touting of Romney as the “inevitable nominee”, he couldn’t beat Elmer Fudd McNuts in the last Republican primary.

His only hope of winning the nomination rests upon the MSM/DNC/RINO’s ability to destroy his opponents.

That's not terribly informative. Do you oppose them both because they are disgusting and sleazy in their personal lives? Or is it because both are moderate to liberal in their politics? Or is it one of their many other shared traits?

They are nearly identical in their legislation, although Romney has actually been more successful with the liberal agenda, IE:

1. Both Clinton AND Romney passed "assault weapons" bans while in office. Clinton could only get a 10 year ban through, while Romney signed a "Permanent Assault Weapons Ban" while governor in 2004. Clinton and Romney both claim they "hunt" and support the second amendment.

2. "Gay" issues. Both Clinton and Romney supported gay marriage. Clinton was able to get "don't ask don't tell" initiated, but that is all. Massachusetts became the first state in the union to allow gay marriage, under Romney's slimy flip flopping leadership. He somewhat allowed, somewhat helped this to come to pass, so he could appear to have stayed on the fence, how Romneyesque.

3. Clinton assigned his wife to lead a national healthcare roundtable and task force in a failed attempt to create nationalized health care. Clinton Failed. Romney on the other hand succeeded in creating the first fully marxist health care system in the US.

4. Clinton and Romney both dodged the draft during Vietnam. Clinton for "School" and Romney to recruit for his cult. I could go on and on, but the pattern that emerges, is that Romney claims to be a conservative, but in reality is better at passing liberal hallmarks than Clinton.

Gingrich also did not serve in the military--he got married the first time at the age of 19 and had a child the next year so he presumably benefited from the deferments for married men and fathers (plus that was before the build-up of US forces in Vietnam).

Gingrich has a half-sister who is a lesbian so that may influence his handling of the homosexual-related issues.

I'm no Gingrich cheerleader, but if I have to choose between Gingrich and Obaam, I'll vote for Gringrich.

If I have to choose between Obama and Romney, I'm voting for a write-in.
