During the CNN GOP National Security Debate on 11/22/2011, Newt Gingrich recommended a comprehensive approach to address illegal immigration. Just for the record, what Mr. Gingrich really said about Amnesty may be viewed here.
Gingrich said that such a plan must (A) start with securing the border, then (B) establishing a guest worker program, and finally (C) setting up a board to review the status of each person here illegally. Such a board would distinguish between those who recently came here, and those who are more established. He said that those who recently came here, who don't have family ties, or are otherwise not established, should be sent home. While those who are established, who have been here for 25 years or more, who have children and grandchildren in America, who belong to churches, who have obeyed the laws, and who have paid their taxes, should be allowed to stay legally, but not automatically granted citizenship. For the latter, he recommended using something similar to the Red Card Solution, which would be used as a form of identification, to grant legality, and place them on a path towards citizenship.
The Krieble Foundation's Red Card Solution is a proposal which would allow companies to recruit workers from Mexico. The Red Card would permit workers to enter America, and would allow employers and immigration authorities to track them. It would aid in enforcement of immigration laws, with less intrusion by the government. According to the Krieble Foundation:
"Its a simple solution. Private employment agencies would be allowed to open offices in foreign countries, and authorized to issue temporary non-citizen worker permits. The permits would be smart cards with a microchip that includes a photograph, fingerprint or other biometric identification data, and information needed so that border agents, police, and employers could swipe the card and know who the holder is, where he works, where he lives, who issued the permit, when it expires, and any other required information. Employment agencies would be licensed by the government and would be required to run criminal background checks before issuing non-citizen worker permits, much like gun shops do today. Employers would simply post jobs with employment agencies like they do today. Best of all, the program would be funded by user fees, not taxpayers."
Gingrich also recommended that H1 Visas be granted with every graduate degree in math, science and engineering, to encourage foreign students to stay in America.
For the most part, I concur.
I addressed the post to myself, by I’m pointing it out in case you might not come back to the thread:

I think it’s worth recalling when the “secure the border first” ruse came into common use, and to notice how popular it has become among many politicians.
Thank you.
One thing is certain, it’s been repeated for so long that most of us recognize “STBF” (secure the border first) as the standard preface to some “comprehensive” scam, which is nothing more than amnesty.
Thank you for posting that. I don't believe I've ever seen so many people on this site in love with a liberal policy.
Conservatives just say no to amnesty and its proponents.
Thank you for posting that Jim. It seems some are willing to ignore that simple fact. I agree 100%; no Republican candidate should be proposing any plan that includes giving legal status or amnesty to the hordes who broke our laws and came here ILLEGALLY.
You cherry-picked one part of my comment and went into a rant. My brain is engaged in the reality while yours appears to be stuck on one point. I say we will suffer until the borders are secure and you go off on me while making my point - no closed borders = no relief. It ain't my fault the borders are open and it will take the Congress to make the decision. Even if a President wants it, it would need to be by Executive Order and I'll bet that the Left would start so many law suits that it still wouldn't get done.
Ask dirtboy what he would like done. Once you wipe the spittle off his comment you my see that some are hoping against hope that it would happen.
You can delude yourself to believe otherwise. I choose not to.
It's that simple.
Later, troll-boy.
I guess your mind is sealed shut. Sealing the borders is the most important thing - it will stop the flood of illegals. What is done after we achieve border security is not so well-defined. When given a choice of some sort of "amnesty" or a wholesale deportation, only an idiot will try the wholesale deportation, which means some sort of "amnesty" is inevitible, the question is, who goes, who gets a pass, and who must either take certain actions or go.
To quote your dirtboy mouth, "It's that simple".
Either that, or you can gather those who are like-minded, arm them up, and try to solve the problem via "Posse Justice". Hope I don't read your name in the paper any time soon.
I guess you missed this post:

OK. Then tell us how it will go down if you get your way. Saying something with "conviction" is meaningless if the "conviction" cannot come to fruition. How do you picture us getting rid of all the illegals and how long do you think it will take?
I don't argue we SHOULD grant amnesty, I argue that it is a given to happen because there is no realistically solution to getting rid of 10-20 million folks without the government actually taking absolute control of all of us and igniting street warfare.
Someone, how can it be done?
Auburn Montgomery economist Keivan Deravi said there was no connection.
“It has nothing to do with the immigration law,” Deravi said. “If it does, I will tear up my PhD.”
He said there are two reasons the unemployment numbers were down: More jobs were created and some people stopped looking for work.
“A large number of people dropped out of the job market, they gave up,” he said.
Alabama’s job gains came primarily in the trade, transportation and utilities sector, the government sector, and the professional and business services sector.
Tom Surtees, Alabama Industrial Relations director, said Friday he had no evidence supporting the argument the new law had affected the numbers — or evidence against it.
He did say that the state’s “Work Alabama” program that’s purpose was to match job seekers with available short-term work “was not as successful as we wanted it to be.”
He said the program had more job seekers than employers.
It was not just Alabama that saw the decrease in unemployment. Alabama’s drop mirrored a national decline from 9.1 percent in September to 9.0 in October. Three of Alabama’s neighbors — Georgia, Tennessee and Florida — had drops in their unemployment numbers.
State Rep. Barry Mask, R- Wetumpka, director of the Elmore County Economic Authority, said at least two companies there have added 50 to 60 jobs recently.
“That’s helped us,” he said.
Elton Dean, Montgomery County Commission chairman, said he was pleased with Montgomery’s decline.
“We haven’t had time to investigate where our numbers came from, but it’s good news,” he said.

I smell bullsh**.
Larry Walker Jr. is a “Natural Born RINO”. His columns are always a pile of crap.
Here's another example, after Sheriff Joe busted 3 Chinese restaurants in Phoenix, teens and youth of all races, and even a master degree holder, lined up for the $8/hr jobs.: VIDEO.
I don't. I think we should work to successfully graduate more natural born American citizens with degrees in science and engineering. I don't think this country has the charter to undermine the educational system with regard to creating competent engineers, etc. here that were also born here. This dated 'melting-pot' philosophy does not work because most don't assimilate like before. America is not required to fulfill the dreams of the rest of the world.
And now we get a sudden outing of those who would rather align their ideology to a candidate rather than to true conservative principles.
As I've said many times before, I never thought I'd see the day that any freeper would back amnesty of any kind.
Obeyed what laws? They stop at red lights? They have never been caught breaking any other laws except for entering the country illegally? Will this review board check out every one to see if they are registered to vote illegally? And if they have voted, will they be put in prison for that crime or simply deported? If they paid taxes, where did they get the SSN? Lots of laws have been broken by these people. Newt will not get my vote.
And for the Kriebel Institute and Newt to even consider a guest worker program while millions of Americans are unemployed shows where their sense of humanity is placed. Cheap labor uber alles.
Like all amnesty shills, you raise the false dichotomy of amnesty versus boxcars, while ignoring the valid proposals raised by many of setting up self-deportation scenarios that would open up jobs for Americans while reducing the billions in tax dollars spent on bennies for illegals.
Yeah, it ain't perfect. But you epitomize the maxim of someone making the perfect the enemy of the good.
