UPDATE: 8:20 AM PST These emails have not been verified yet, and this story was posted by one of my moderating staff while I was asleep. Until such time they are verified, tread lightly because without knowing what is behind the rest of the zip file, for all we know its a bunch of recipes and collection of ipsem lorem text files. Im working to authenticate these now and will report when I know more Anthony Watts
UPDATE2: 8:45AM PST The Guardian has a story up be Leo Hickman, and this excerpt suggests they may be the real deal:
Norfolk police have said the new set of emails is of interest to their investigation to find the perpetrator of the initial email release who has not yet been identified.
The emails appear to be genuine, but this has yet to be confirmed by the University of East Anglia. One of the emailers, the climate scientist Prof Michael Mann, has confirmed that he believes they are his messages.
UPDATE3: 9:25 AM PST Having read a number of emails, and seeing this quote from Mike Mann in the Guardian:
When asked if they were genuine, he said: Well, they look like mine but I hardly see anything that appears damning at all, despite them having been taken out of context. I guess they had very little left to work with, having culled in the first round the emails that could most easily be taken out of context to try to make me look bad.

Looks like a “money quote” to me!
More if you provide a click to this Wordpress blog you mean.
I don't see this "source" on the excerpt list.
Looking for hits, are you?
Pimping a bit, hey?
Again, this is not my blog. I have no connection with Anthony Watts or his blog “Watts Up With That”.
“I have no connection with Anthony Watts or his blog”
Yet when faced with the question of excerpting or providing
the full content you chose to excerpt the piece to get some
blog hits for Anthony Watts. Does he pay you well?
Odd, I don’t see this source on the excerpt list:

What seems to have caused you to excerpt an obvious blog piece not on the list?
No, he doesn’t pay me at all. I do not own the copyright to his material and it is kind of long. Read it don’t read it whatever. Are we required to post in entirety just because something does not appear on that list?
Required? Nope.
OK ... so were other people pimping his blog when they posted excerpts from it in the past?
Watt's Up is a famous blog that exposes Climate Change fraud. It's not being pimped.
You are the most annoying little prick on Freerepublic. What the heck is wrong with you?
Are we required to post in entirety just because something does not appear on that list?
Required? Nope.
***************************************************
See, I’m confused. In the past, complaints here at FR of “blog pimping” have been about the original poster posting their own material in excerpted form in order to drive hits to their own blog.
This is somebody else’s copyrighted material. It’s not mine. And posting the entire thing would not be in keeping with “fair use”, IMO.
If I’m misunderstanding the problem, please let me know.
Bump fer later.....
Cheers!
Uh oh, global warming loons: here comes Climategate II!

AGW apologists regularly swagger in and have their asses handed to them on a silver platter, the way libtards do here.
I consider it a "news aggregator" site about the AGW controversy. It's well worth a read.
Cheers!
Thanks for the post! (and keep right on pimpin’!, LOL ;-)
Oh my.
What the heck is wrong with you?
Would you like the alphabetical list or the one ordered by priority?
A couple of weeks ago, I asked on a thread why there was this sudden interest in going after “blog pimps.” The excuse I was given was that some people had created blogs which didn’t add anything original, but which themselves contained stolen YouTube videos and such, and which could indirectly affect FreeRepublic’s legal position if we linked to them.
Such an argument does not pertain to the Watts Up With That blog, which contains original material and is one of the best sites for those opposed to global warming fanaticism.
I would like to know why there is such animosity towards posting of links to all blogs. The explanation I was previously given is a smoke screen as evidenced by the vicious posts by the anti-blog police on this thread which are aimed at a legitimate and very useful web site.
Can someone please come clean and explain what is going on here?
I would appreciate that, too.
It’s a Soros funded conspiracy to undermine the effectiveness of crappy Wordpress blogs.
