On Friday night, Herman Cain was a fly and David Letterman was the spider cordially inviting Cain to "step into my parlor." Didn't Cain or any of his advisors see the potential for disaster in Cain appearing on Letterman's show?
Didn't anybody say, "Herman, don't go in there! It's a trap!"?
I desperately don't want to be seen as one of those just itching for clear proof that Herman Cain's candidacy is over. But it's hard to have watched Cain on Letterman and not come to the conclusion that neither Cain nor his advisors have sufficiently good judgment for him to be president.
I've been aware of Cain, and impressed by him, ever since I first heard him on the radio in Atlanta. I was ecstatic when he announced he was seeking the Republican nomination.
I have long maintained, long before anybody ever heard of Barack Obama, that a backlash of conservative Blacks might be the only thing that could save this country. The election of Barack Obama seemed to make that less likely, but I "kept hope alive".
And Herman Cain re-kindled that hope. I saw him as the man who could lead Black Americans off the Democrat plantation and, when that happened, many liberal whites would follow.
I was not deterred by the allegations of sexual harassment, nor by the "pause that depresses" when he was asked about Libya. I was not deterred by Cain's apparent lack of comprehensive foreign policy knowledge; I figured he would surround himself with competent advisors and that his own instincts and managerial and leadership skills, and his belief in America and its -- and his own -- general goodness would see him through.
But Cain's appearance on Letterman's show has seriously undermined my confidence in Cain's judgment and in his ability to.....

I support Gov. Rick Perry.
I’m going to start a new drinking game—one shot for every post on this thread that is about the actual points in the article.
Bottoms up! :) And good night. (I have a feeling I’ll need another game if I wanna get anywhere with the bottle.)
If you had ben reading my posts on other threads, maybe you would have understood that this was part of an ongoing discussion between myself and the poster to whom my reply was made. It was in the context of a previous dicussion which you were not part of, so you didn’t understand what I meant. Context is sometimes relevant.
Second, 0bama is very controlled and very scripted. 0bama can't handle press conferences without a teleprompter for goodness sake! And here he complains because Cain “wings it,” because his interview host controls the interview. Uh...yes Cain is the one being interviewed.
Lastly Stu Trulowe cringes at Cain's response to the difference between him and Donald Trump. The answer was obviously a tongue and cheek answer to an inane question.
It seems to me Stu Trulowe is basing his evaluation of Cain, around Cain's race. And if we let our own pundits set that was a priority they are no more helpful in the long run than the MSM.
It was. And it was.
He followed with, “And he’s three inches taller than I am.”
With his appearance, Cain was basically saying, this is an entertainment show, so I’m gonna have fun. He wasn’t there to dig deep into issues and policies. He was there to have fun. And it appeared he succeeded.
CW, what, in this article, do you consider ‘facts’? This is opinion. Eye of the beholder and all that. It IS belittling Just as the posts criticizing Perry’s appearance were belittling.
This is extremely disappointing...
I thought Letterman was dead!

Just in case you might want to give Mr. Cain a fair hearing...or at least a hearing. Cain was in no way “devoured” by Letterman. What I just saw was Cain neutralizing Letterman’s questions, some of them pointed and others, such as the Trump one, vague. That one did give Cain an opening to talk about his business experience, so he didn’t let it go to waste.
You’d have to actually watch it, though. The written word is incapable of relaying the mood and expressions of those involved. Since you are able to post here, it’s unlikely that you can’t see for yourself what actually occurred...or do you prefer to let others make up your mind for you?
The problem with politics today..very few candidates are natural citizens.
Cain probably figured he was going to smoke and joke with Letterman like Obama did a couple of weeks ago.
I didn’t watch Letterman, so Cain did fine?
Watch it for yourself: Herman Cain on Letterman
Cain did fine. The author of this opinion piece comes across as a concern troll.
I haven’t watched Letterman in years, he’s a cynical old fart whose day in the sun has passed...not to mention his OWN sexual harASSment escapades.
A third party. That’ll sure learn ‘em.
There are thousands of freepers. I hate to break it to you but not everyone knows the world-famous CW. So when you put up this stupid article you should at least tell people you are a Perry fanatic. FANATIC.
Obama (Marxist) vs. Romney (Liberal/Socialist)
Then there is really not a choice. It's just an illusion.
So, how exactly did Cain get “devoured” by Letterman? Looked like he did OK.
Cain had a perfect opportunity to smack Letterman back and didn’t do it. He was ever so polite. He didn’t even take any shots st obama when DL accused him of being inexperienced. All he did was flash his smile, echo his 999 refrain and give his usual double talk responses. He never digs into an issue, he just glosses over it with non answers. He never elaborates and he’s really not all that well spoken.
People that jump to conclusions show just how poor their judgement is. I have my doubts as to their ability to make their own decisions, much less mine. As it happens, youtube is totally useless here right now, as are the torrent sites which just might have that video.
It was a simple question. The person that I addressed it to answered it as such. Your input was of no value at all.
