The argument appears to be that we need an ideologically-pure president who is willing to ignore Congress, and who thinks he has the power to enforce only the laws he prefers, or otherwise simply by
diktat.
Oh, wait a minute . . . .

Everyone who points out that Dubya was a big govt spendaholic are rat supporters? LOL, try saying that at a Tea Party rally!

Do not forget that everyone under 30 had been programmed to vote for the O. It was the “in” thing, kind of like having the right kind of boots or tickets to the most desirable concert. 66% of those under 30 voted for the O. The turnout by young people was enormous compared to previous elections. And they didn't even know they were being manipulated. As for older people, well I can't understand nor explain how anyone with half a developed brain could vote for a person with no record of accomplishment in any area, regardless of how much they disliked Bush. Still very strange to me.

This is where your selective memory comes into play. Many of us here on FR followed this legislation and complained about precisely this issue. The fact that the legislation passed doesn't make anyone a "bot." (Even the use of the term indicates that you have, umm, larger issues).
I can only speak for myself. Not only do I hold Bush accountable for it, I reject your efforts to paint my perceived lack of accountability as some sort of proof that we should've elected Ron Paul.

Your post vs. your tagline show you’d argue with anybody, so I’ll just step back and let you.

“I hold Bush accountable for it”
You most certainly do not. Your posts on this thread have been obnoxious excuses for the guy started with pooh poohing a threatened veto option. When it came to light that he was a big fan of said bill NOW all of a sudden its because “he campaigned on energy policy” - as if that all encompassing statement somehow excuses the light bulb nonsense.

I bought some of these vaunted LED bulbs. Cost me $13 apiece, but I thought that if they lasted as long as they’re alleged to do, it would be worth it. They were used for about three to four each evening during the winter months and two to three hours in the summer. They provided a nice, bright light. They were all dead inside of three months.
I have a number of charming antique or antique-style lamps in my house that aren’t going to accommodate a bigger bulb; they just take small decorative incandescents. I don’t want to have to stop using them. I also like to keep some of my lamps on dimmers. Yes, I hear that there are LED and CFL bulbs you can use with a dimmer. They cost a fortune and they make the room look like a scene from a slasher movie.
I want the government to stay out of my bedroom, stay out of my kids’ playroom, stay out of my gun cabinet, stay out of my refrigerator, and stay out of my living room, too.

CFL’s Do Not Work if the bulb portion is Down. I’ve tried them in a chandellier and my garage door opener and they last about 4 weeks. I think it has something to do with the mercury not being able to vaporize because it is so far from the electrode.

Presdent Bush was 10 times better then that arrogant occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave we have nowBeing 10 time better than zero doesn't make you good. Bush and his get-along style led to the unthinkable: the Dems being able to run as the party of fiscal responsibility. You can trace the disaster called Obama/Pelosi directly to Dubya.

We have been waiting for about four years for the LED's to improve the warmth of the glow in order to be sufficient for lighting the gallery. Finally in August we found the equivalent replacement for 90 watt Halogens. These bulbs are 17 watts and are estimated to last for 50,000 hours. The first ten we bought were $75 each but we then googled around and found them for half that amount. I suspect the price will continue to tumble.
Here is the good news, the air conditioner doesn't have any work because there is no heat and we got the electrical bill for the first full month. It was cut in half from $400-$200. These bulbs will pay for themselves very quickly and they last forever. Yes I know they are made in China so please do not flame me for that. I am just trying to be realistic with a serious business decision. If the dummies want to waste money on solar panels and all that crap, all we have to do is go to LED lighting and we cut our needs in half. Immediately.
Here is the one we are using:

Oh and by the way. We have about fifty 60 watt Halogen bulbs that we will give away for free. You have to come to southern Utah to get them. Also have a quite a few unopened boxes.

Ambiance. I need ambiance. Flourescent light is cheap and annoying. LEDs are too.

If you don’t turn them off & on a lot they seem to last years. The 60 watt bulb near my desk is 2 years old and going strong.

Flourescent light is cheap and annoying. LEDs are too. We thought that too when we began seeking LED's four years ago. We had almost given up until this year when numerous sources started coming available. Previously none of them were dimmable to give the ambiance we were seeking. Now these are more uniform in their coverage and they can be dimmed.
Things are changing fast. I just hope some bright American company comes up with this as when high volume competition starts, prices will come down.

Updates get pushed out all the time. Feel free to turn off your computer at night. Our IT department would get upset if I did that. Instructions to log out, but leave the computer on, are part of our new employee orientation.
The only exception to that was at my first post, where the employees rebelled against leaving the computers on all the time (it wastes energy!), so the IT department compromised and asked us not to turn off our computers on Wednesdays, so they could push the updates.
