Look at a pacific ocean currents map and you will understand why.

“The floating debris will likely be carried by currents off of Japan toward Washington, Oregon and California before turning toward Hawaii and back again toward Asia, circulating in what is known as the North Pacific gyre”
Actually I spoke to a lady in Hawaii today who told me it had gone past them already. Thing is they’re so small in the big scheme of things, the islands didn’t catch much of it.
North, and South America will be the end of the journey. It’s all going to wash up on our shores, so to speak.
