Penn State: An alternative theory (Could McQueary have been molested as a child by Sandusky?)
one man's opinion....

Posted on 11/11/2011 12:20:45 PM PST by ken5050

I've been following the events at Penn State as they unfold, and like everyone, am horrified at what I've read. But there are two things that have bothered me about this story, that I'm having trouble understanding, keeping in context, and may well provide a viable alternative explanation of what happened.

This is a fact many people don’t seem to get.

“Do you mean literal dead bodies?”

Yes.

“See, it’s stuff like this that I try not to respond to. Since when am I tolerating anything intolerable? Are you accusing me of tolerating Sandusky and Spanier, Schultz, and Curley?”

No. I am talking about bending over backwards to be ‘fair’ to paterno, who clearly tolerated the intolerable...which leads me to conclude that for you to defend him while knowing this is tolerating the intolerable as well.
And if it isn’t, please explain WHY it isn’t.

Why is it necessary to personalize a simple difference of opinion?

I'll take my answer on the air.

There was a nearly threadlong personal conversation going on. I don’t recall you being part of it. The question was put to me. I answered. The answer was meant for the person who asked it. It was not a random comment.

Just wondering, as on another thread someone indirectly accused me of being a pederast because I differed with them on the topic. You sound like you're headed in the same direction.

Carry on.

Most disturbing is how Mike McQueary, at the time a 28 year old asst on the football program, walked into a shower, witnessed Sandusky anally raping a 10 year old boy; yet took no action. He left the shower, called his father, and the next day they BOTH went to tell Paterno what they had seen.

Were did you get this from? The grand jury report, top of page 7, does NOT say that both McQueary and his father went to Paterno's house to talk with Paterno.

"The graduate assistant went to his office and called his father, reporting what he had seen. His father told the graduate assistant to leave the building and come to his home. The graduate assistant and his father decided that the graduate assistant had to promptly report what he had seen to Coach Joe Paterno ("Paterno"), head football coach of Penn State. The next morning, a Saturday, the graduate assistant telephoned Paterno and went to Paterno's home, where he reported what he had seen."

Obviously, you don’t know me even slightly well enough to make such a ridiculous statement.

Thanks, it is a bloody shame to see this happen to a truly great slice of Americana in Happy Valley. Wonderful people are being tainted by filthy perverts, or gutless cowards.

Yes.

Well that is something I have never heard of. I can't argue against that.

paterno, who clearly tolerated the intolerable

It is not clear whether he tolerated it. That's the thing.

Most of the Syracuse fans thought that Paterno was beyond cocky, he even wanted a Syracuse Penn state game to be held at Penn State instead of SU. He abandoned their division to make a lot more money, and destroyed a huge tradition for both Universities. When you throw out tradition, and with it any scruples you may have had , we are not surprised that this nauseating scandal would happen.

How can you be angry at the four others you mentioned without being equally as angry with paterno? He is stuck right in the middle of this. He was never out of the loop.

Did you attend Penn State? That is just my curiosity asking.
If so, which campus? Is WPa Western PA? ‘Cause me too.

I am most angry at Sandusky. It should be obvious why.

Next I'm mad at Schultz and Curley for definitely doing the cover-up.

Finally, I'm mad at Spanier, because he is these guys boss and because he is a homosexual supporter. I would not be surprised if he (and Schultz) was a homosexual or pedophile himself, especially given the Mark Madden rumors.

Paterno's degree of culpability remains to be seen yet. It can range anywhere from actively participating in the cover-up to being unaware and the scapegoat for the other four. I'm holding out my judgment on him. I don't want to condemn the guy if I could be falling right into pedophile ring's trap.

I did attend Penn State main campus for four years and graduated in the early 2000's. WPa does stand for Western Pa.

Just stopped at the Hess Gas in Marysville (RT322 to State College).

Lots of out of town plates with people not even going to the game just to be there tomorrow.
Lots of collee kids just going camping/drinking all night just to be there.

One kid called it "the Woodstock of college football".

It is getting crazy.

Okay. I understand your points and agree with most, but I am less willing to give paterno the benefit of any doubt than you are. On that one, we will have to agree to disagree.
I imagine we will meet again on this subject. It doesn’t look like it’s going to go away anytime soon. Nice meeting you.

Most of the Syracuse fans thought that Paterno was beyond cocky, he even wanted a Syracuse Penn state game to be held at Penn State instead of SU.

It's not at all unusual for Penn State to negotiate a home/away/home - three game schedule with other non-league teams. I'm a Syracuse fan and never considered Paterno beyond cocky.

He abandoned their division to make a lot more money, and destroyed a huge tradition for both Universities.

Penn State did no such thing. Penn State and Syracuse were never in a "division" together. Penn State was an independent football school before joining the Big 10. I think the last league Penn State played football in previously to joining the Big 10 was a Pennsylvania league for one season back in the late 1800's.

Did Penn State and Syracuse regularly play each other as independents? Yes. Do they have plans to play each other now in non-league play? I believe they do in 2013. 2013 at the Meadowlands - so at neither school's home field.

Aren't you throwing a few stones here from your glass house - having abandoned the Big East just weeks ago? How can anyone believe that has to do with anything but money?

When you throw out tradition, and with it any scruples you may have had , we are not surprised that this nauseating scandal would happen.

Syracuse has abandoned many of its traditions, its Saltine Warrior, its long time basketball rivals, it's Big East membership. Guess we are going to see a breaking scandal from Syracuse soon too?
