Gingrich, Perry in fight to face Romney
The Hill ^ | November 9, 2011 | Christian Heinze

...With Cain facing a series of harassment allegations, a lack of campaign organization in the early voting states and questions about his readiness for the job, political observers expect another candidate to emerge as Romney’s rival.

Gingrich and Perry are the most obvious applicants for that role. Rep. Ron Paul’s (Texas) unpopularity with mainstream Republicans makes him unlikely to win, and Gingrich and Perry triple or quadruple everyone else in polling.

...So who’s got the upper hand in the race to become Romney’s rival? Let’s break it down:

Money

Perry is the easy winner here........

Debates

Gingrich is the easy winner here.....

Issues....

The take-away is that both candidates fell from their early heights, in part because their supporters felt they weren’t ideologically pure enough, so it’s difficult to know which of the two they’d prefer...in a new Washington Post/ABC poll....Gingrich nearly doubled Perry’s performance on the question “Who best reflects the core values of the Republican Party?” and he edged out Perry on “Who is the closest to you on the issues?”

Advantage: Gingrich.

Intangibles..........

But if Gingrich takes two of the first three categories, he loses rather badly on the fourth. Perry has been married to his childhood sweetheart for almost 30 years. Gingrich is on his third marriage and has admitted to infidelity in his previous two.

And, yes, Perry is known for being fairly brash, but Gingrich has a famously self-destructive streak and a discipline problem that’s imperiled him throughout his career. Gingrich also last held elective office over a decade ago, while Perry has been an executive of one of the most successful states over the past decade.....

Perry trounces Gingrich on whom Republicans think is most electable, doubling the former Speaker’s support.

Overall

Gingrich takes two categories and Perry takes two, which means....

Good post, I have been on FR a long time and it is not the place it used to be. Name calling and crude talk used to be enough to get you the ZOT but not anymore.

I think the change in behavior started with the emotional love fest over Sarah Palin. People are now doing the same thing with Cain. Out in the my real world I did not find very many people who liked Palin, it will be interesting to see if those same people go nuts over Cain.

Be sure to send Herman Cain some money today. Mark Block is so happy to mention how that’s working out for them and usually follows his blaming someone for something and demanding that they apologize to Herman Cain.

Even though I hate Mitt Romney and think he’s a huge RINO, it helps Cain to be civil with him. Cain still wants to win over Romney supporters.

Welcome to FR.

This is the primary. He’s supposed to show how he will campaign against an opponent. Up ‘till now he doesn’t see Romney as an opponent. Romney is only polling about 25%, so that makes the other 75% supports who Cain should assume are not supporting Romney.

RINO cowboy Rick Perry, The Texas Corridor Kid is now only competing with Huntsman for the bottom of the barrel.

Each new revelation about Cain’s accusers only pumps Cain’s support higher, much in the same manner as we saw with the attacks on Palin.
If this continues Cain will become unstoppable and the primary debates moot.

If Cain does falter, none of his suppor would ever go to lost boy La Raza.

Sarah Palin cares about Perry and endorsed him in his last election.

I support Perry and I am not a psychopath.

What do you have against Perry?

You can only vote for men who cheat on their wives or treat women with disrespect?

You think people are psychopaths for supporting Perry but

it’s ok with you that people support a lying, cheating and no foreign policy knowledge Cain?

Cain did not know what the right of return was.

Cain did not know anything about Afghanistan.

Cain did not know China had nukes.

Cain said he would be willing to exchange Gitmo prisoners for a soldier held hostage.

Cain is both pro life and pro choice.

Cain was in favor of Tarp. That’s not conservative.

Cain chases after every female tail he can find.

Cain LIES.

Cain is covering up his past.

Cain totally disrespects his wife and women.

Cain accused Perry of outing his past sexual harassment problems even after someone proved it leaked from the NRA.
He wanted Perry to apologize yet he never apologized to Perry when the truth came out.

Now his campaign manager is out there making accusations that the son of the women who publicly spoke out against Cain worked at politico. He doesn’t. Block is an idiot for not checking the facts and an idiot for just throwing that out there without checking the facts. He thinks because someone has the same last name they have to be related. Another lie. Block lies. Cain lies.

The slogen should be changed from nein nein nein
to LIE LIE LIE or CHEAT CHEAT CHEAT.

If anybody is a psychopath - it is Herman Cain.

The more I get comments from you MrEdd the more I’m convinced you’re rooting for Obama.

That is what you accuse everyone of if they oppose the open borders candidates you espouse.

You did it with Giuliani last election, you are doing it with Perry now, and whoever you support in the future, your line will always be the same. You toss it out no matter who the person actually supports.

You don't have much credibility left, and the person who brought that about is you.
