There are few things that Connecticut can bring to the table when discussions of American exceptionalism come to the forefront. A notable exception could be insurance, but now there is also a connection to time and its boundless second hands, the very stroke that registers as the heartbeat of the American tradition.
Connecticut however, does have a rich history of ties to American exceptionalism. During the American Revolution, firearms and ammunition were produced there. Even today, there is still a glimmer of that American manufacturing with Groton as a center of submarine building. As defense spending has declined, so has the assertion of pride in the rugged, individual American spirit.
Today, though, stands a center of American ingenuity and individuality that will not only make Nutmeggers proud, but it will certify that there is nothing quite as good as the indefatigable American work ethic and its boundless optimism that have made the country great...

No small irony in this story. Timex is GOP Insider Bill Bennett’s sponsor. Bill Bennett has joined the Cain attackers.
Ping!
Tokyo Rove up next on FOX to slam Cain and declare him dead.
Perfect picture, Lazlo. Thanks for posting it.
Shut up Karl.

Did you see this?
On Drudge too.
Don’t forget the round manhole cover. As obvious as it seems, the round shape is the only shape that cannot fall through the manhole opening and it too was developed in CT. A small accomplishment certainly unless you’re in the manhole when the lid gets dropped.
Thanks for the bump, Matchett and for reading. I appreciate it.
Personally, I have reservations about electing a man who’s covered in somone else’s saliva.
“Bill Bennett has joined the Cain attackers”
No real surprise here.
Not the first time Bill Bennett has attacked a conservative. Makes me wonder what is in it for him this time.
Then-Democrat Bill Bennett got his National Endowment for the Humanities job during the Reagan administration by savaging the scholarly Mel Bradford in order to get him out of the way.
It was one of the first political hit jobs by the neoconservative faction within the GOP and showed their true colors.
Mel Bradford’s defenders included John East, Jesse Helms, John Tower, Strom Thurmond, Jeremiah Denton, Dan Quayle Russell Kirk, Jeffrey Hart, William Buckley, Gerhart Niemeyer, Stanton Evans, Andrew Lytle, and even his old debating foe Harry Jaffa.
Bennett’s gang of character assassins included Bill Kristol and Norman Podhoretz. When it came to political street fighting the courtly Bradford and his defenders proved no contest to these thugs.
Cool.
Perfect, graphic, PowderMonkey. Thanks for posting it.
Bill Bennett is a true believer in the power big government to do good.
Big government conservatives are just as dangerous as big government liberals.
