Wow..The culture of Political Correctness hasn't totally overtaken Hollywood.
CBS's "Blue Bloods", is a hit series, now in its second season, and a favorite of mine. It stars Tom Selleck as the NYC Commissioner, surrounded by several family members who are also cops. It's tough, gritty, and filmed in NYC. A pretty accurate portrayal.
Last night's episode was very kewl...
The protagonist is a black minister, a community organizer who heads a church in Harlem that more closely appears to be a parody of Louis Farrahkan/Nation of Islam. Unlike Rev Al, this guy is tall, thin, AND bald (can't risk being accused of type casting here, eh?)
They stage an incident to provoke a confrontation between church members and the NYPD, and two officers are injured.
It turns out that the Rev is trying to "resurrect" his career after being accused of stealing several millions from a community organization that he heads. ( sure sounds like Rev Al and his National Action Network, doesn't it?)
To make sure EVERYONE get the point, towards the end, while discussing the Rev's latest rabble-rousing efforts to get the PC fired, Selleck's character says.."he just wants to get his own talk show on MSNBC."
Waaay kewl, and surprising, no?
I'm surprised that line got through.
Wonder who the show's creators/producers are, and if there are any lingering issues with NBC?
I think most Freepers would enjoy the show. Do give it a watch if you're not already a fan.
Watched 80% of it. (Well Mrs Drango had the remote, so I watched what she watched, till I fell asleep.
Plus Tom Seleck is alright... no crazy behaviour of stage.
Sounds interesting! I’m sure Tom Selleck can get away with a lot. What network is it on and when? I might have to start watching it.
???
Are you insane? My wife knows better than to go anywhere NEAR the remote.
I mean, without permission.
CBS Friday nights at 10PM..I think the network puts it on their website, and IIRC, I saw a blurb that the first season is now out on DVD..I heartily recommend it..
Gawd, Brigit Moynahan is gorgeous..can’t believe Tom Brady walked away from that..
I don’t watch the show, but I did see one of the characters going off on the light bulb ban last season. Pretty cool.
Also last year, Fox’s Chicago Code did an entire show about a very thinly veiled Bill Ayers character and held nothing back. Unfortunately, the series was cancelled.
But resist, we much. We must, and we will much, about that, be committed.
Great Show,, Selleck’s “talk show” remark right on the money.
Not much else worth watching besides Krauthammer, NCIS and Harry’s Law.
Why do I get the notion that the only person watching Sharpton on MSNBC is Mrs Sharpton? I think even Tawana Brawley has something better to do.
That's right Lancey, my wife never touches my remote {eeerrrr, after I bought a smaller TV for my den, so I could have complete control [[unless she is in here cleaning the den, in which case I, of my own free will, give her temporary use]] and when she goes to the casino, I have free rein with either remote.
Heh, heh that just shows everyone who is the Captain of the USS Alaska and what happened to my strawberries?
Watched it after someone here posted a “you gotta watch this” last night. What a great show! Had to leave my NCIS reruns but it was worth it.
Magnum rocks.
He and Rosie had that dustup over guns years ago. He crushed her.
I have watched this series since it began (last year). It’s one of my favorites.
The characters pull no punches and call it like it is.
A must watch for all Freepers.
WAKE UP AMERICA, WE ARE ABOUT TO HAVE OUR GOVERNMENT CHANGED FOREVER!
Correction: MSNBC s/b MSDNC.
