Upon being proven to have perjured himself before the House Government Affairs Committee, Attorney General Eric Holder did what any dedicated leftist would; he changed the subject and blamed someone else.
In a childish and petulant letter to his principle adversary, Darrell Issa, Holder accused the Republican congressman of cynical efforts to score political points and repeated his claim to have known nothing of Operation Fast and Furious in 2010.
But Issa would have none of the Attorney Generals bogus claims or pathetic excuses. In a masterpiece of typewritten homicide which has received far too little attention from conservative bloggersand of course NONE from the mainstream mediaIssa exposed Holders criminal activities and his lies and misrepresentations concerning Department of Justice involvement in Operation Fast and Furious.
With no trace of the professional courtesy or benefit of the doubt so often accorded one longtime inhabitant of D.C. by another, Issa pointedly accused Holder of deliberately undermining the [Fast and Furious] investigation by offering a roving set of ever-changing explanations to justify its (DOJ) involvement.
And Issa rightly stated that, in shifting blame for the Operations shortcomings from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) to the Phoenix US Attorneys Office, Holders efforts were designed to circle the wagons around DOJ and its political appointees.
Of Holders letter itself, the congressman made it clear the Attorney General had done little but obfuscate, shift blame, berate and attempt to change the topic from the [DOJ's] responsibility in the creation, implementation and authorization of this reckless program (Fast and Furious.)
Of course that was obviously Holders intent. But rarely has a D.C. Republican had the courage to make such an unequivocal charge and call out a radical leftist for his blatant dishonesty and contempt for the American public.

Convicting, maybe.
Prosecuting Bill Clinton helped him win the sympathy vote, and emboldened him for four more years.
If you're planning to kill the King, you'd better be successful, or else.
Pursuing justice through law does not equate with a banana republic. Under the current administration we are a banana republic that ignores laws and justice. Marching them into court and trying them for crimes against the republic will reinforce constitutional government.
Spoken like a true French Revolutionary.
Or a constitutional patriot. Your desire to hold criminals harmless because they hold office is the foundation of tyranny.
I have no such desire, nor have I stated any such thing.
I have merely pointed out, as any of the founders would in view of how the brutality of direct action in the French Revolution proved, that the first and preeminent check in the tyranny of man is the BALLOT.
Our electorate has devolved to such an extent that still 40% approve somewhat of this idiot and his cronies.
Going after "their guy" with a judicial branch hatchet while "the people" still have some fealty toward him is dangerous.
If the people do not elect honorable men to office, then the office cannot be made whole. Worse, you can end up unravelling the entire fabric if you start pulling on that thread.
Vote them out first. Uncover their misdeeds. Then sow the appropriate derision and lessons such that the electorate learns THEIR mistake....that which they still don't seem to understand.
Could not disagree with you more. We are either a nation of laws or we are not.
Criminal proceedings may not be appreciated but they are the only safegaurd against tyranny such as was shown in the French Revolution.
Agree with you completely.
And right now we are not a rational nation of laws. You are talking about fencing with axe murderers egged on by 40% of the audience from Mad Max.
It's a precarious state.
I can't imagine assembling a better effort today than what Robt E Lee did when we last failed to achieve that objective.
And the U.S. Army has more than just smooth-bore cannon today to trample any such effort.
We can start a moon or asteroid colony perhaps, but that's about the extent of the post USA options, short of Beijing or Tehran nuking DC.
Then, Sam, our only hope is in the law and specifically our Constitution. The ballot box will not resolve our problems if there is no incentive to follow the Constitution.
There is a political movement in our country that opposes Constitutional government. That viewpoint must be made illegal. The law cannot tolerate its opposition if we are to remain under the law. Allowing progressivism legitimate standing is, as is being proven, the end of Constituional government.
Exactly. Extraconstitutional government is already illegal. So, "the law" doesn't provide any real protection, does it?
Read Bastiat. He can tell you all about this in a few dozen pages.
Cheers! And you're ready to digest Ayn Rand now. You've come a long way from your incorrect assessment in #47:
Criminal proceedings may not be appreciated but they are the only safegaurd against tyranny such as was shown in the French Revolution.
(Emphasis added.) Not only are criminal proceedings not the only safeguard, they would be counterproductive in this case.
"Going Galt via Bastiat" is probably a good retreat alternative if we fail to cycle to power next November in the election.
