Is there a lesson to be learned here? The kitchen staff volunteering to feed the Zuccotti Park protestors have been providing – for free – top-quality meals to OWS protestors and outsiders who are not officially part of the unofficial movement. Kitchen staff no like.
My guess is they wouldn’t be happy if I stopped by for a free lunch of organic chicken, vegetables and sheep’s-milk-cheese salad either. From the New York Post.
The Occupy Wall Street volunteer kitchen staff launched a “counter” revolution yesterday — because they’re angry about working 18-hour days to provide food for “professional homeless” people and ex-cons masquerading as protesters.
The point is not that they are homeless or ex-cons. I’m guessing the kitchen staff is no longer willing to serve high-quality meals to people who are not down for the struggle and contributing in some way to the movement. In other words, protest like you mean it or you should leave.
To show they mean business, the kitchen staff refused to serve any food for two hours yesterday in order to meet with organizers to air their grievances, sources said.
It looks like the organizers have refused to lock out the homeless and ex-cons. But they came up with a solution. EVERYONE SUFFERS.
For three days beginning tomorrow, the cooks will serve only brown rice and other spartan grub instead of the usual menu of organic chicken and vegetables, spaghetti bolognese, and roasted beet and sheep’s-milk-cheese salad.
They will also provide directions to local soup kitchens for the vagrants, criminals and other freeloaders who have been descending on Zuccotti Park in increasing numbers every day.
You can’t have any of our free stuff, go elsewhere. We’ll give you a map.
Some protesters threatened that the high-end meals could be cut off completely if the vagrants and criminals don’t disperse.
Unhappiness with their unwelcome guests was apparent throughout the day.
“We need to limit the amount of food we’re putting out” to curb the influx of derelicts, said Rafael Moreno, a kitchen volunteer.
A security volunteer added that the cooks felt “overworked and underappreciated.”
Many of those being fed “are professional homeless people. They know what they’re doing,” said the guard at the food-storage area.
I think there is a lesson or analogy somewhere in this story … I just can’t seem to put a finger on it.

These “Fleabaggers” have been sending out young people to panhandle on the street since early summer. They are out there to fatten up OWS’s coffers.

Someone should turn that bunch into the Dept of Health. Is the proper sanitation, refrigeration, heating temperatures, etc., being used in preparing and serving these foods? Where is salmonella when you need it?

This is the failures of socialism speeded up to weeks instead of decades
How soon until they start to force the ‘protesters’ into labor camps (to cook and serve their own food) and then rationing, and then lynching of starving ‘workers’ who cheat and eat food while cooking it.
All while the organizers are warm on their beds and in their offices, using donations to send out for pizza and drinks.

You make a good point about the Dept. of Health. How do they get away with serving any food without the proper permits, facilities, and posting the calories etc?

Gee, how come every time we try to set up a worker's paradise somebody screws it up?
The kitchen workers are just trying to give free stuff to the guys picketing for free stuff, and nerve of those bums trying to get in line for free stuff! Free stuff attracts freeloaders, I guess ... but this is their free stuff, and those hobos have to go get their own.

Oh yea, but that does not include the conservative majority in this country...they are just talking about themsleves because most of us conservative do not agree with their progressive/marxist protests. In reality its more like 25% (progressive/maxrcists/liberals) vs 75% the rest of us.
Oh...but a lot of liberals are not climbing on the OWS wagons, so it's REALLY maybe 15% vs 85%. That puts a more realistic light on it...and I am being overly generous.
