SUMATRA, Indonesia Several earthquakes have struck near south Sumatra of the 5.0 and 5.1 magnitude range today- making a tense situation on the volcanically-dotted archipelago potentially even more volatile. The Anak Krakatau volcano is showing signs of increased seismic activity. Authorities fear the volcano is building towards an eruption that could dwarf the one which occurred in 2007. Indonesias Volcanology and Geological Disasters Mitigation Center reported the numbers of seismic tremors now registering from the volcano have exceeded 5,000 a day. There are also reports of a gaseous mist which has seeped from the volcano and have enshrouded it in a yellowish haze- something that has never been observed at the volcano before. Anak Krakatau was placed on orange (level 3) status alert on September 30, 2011.

Almost 3.5 tremors per minute?I think that's a good thing. Anything that relieves even minor amounts of pressure and potential energy could help prevent a massive blast like Krakatau. Clearly, a lot of movement is going on beneath Anak Krakatau. Let's hope it's enough to lessen whatever large event that may be coming.

Yes indeedy. As large numbers of people reject God’s protection....no telling HOW interesting this may yet become.

"
If youre on the West side of the range, there could be record snow falls! How do you deal with that?"
Stock up in advance, and prepare to dig and plow. ;-) I'm too far from the power grid to hook up the usual way and will be building the power plant little by little. The heating system will be a drainback radiant solar type with a large, very insulated, indoor thermal storage tank and large, homebuilt collectors on sheds. Backups will be
homebuilt wind with the recently developed Midnite MPPT Classic controller and Clipper for wind turbines (very windy here most of the time) and wood for heat. Livestock will be yaks (climate).
It's taking a lot of work and time, but it might be worth it. Hope to get ham radio set up, before what's left of the sparse population moves downhill (gobs of foreclosures already).
