Mexican President Felipe Calderon alleges that Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman, the Forbes-listed billionaire who heads the powerful Sinaloa cartel, is living in the United States where his young American wife recently gave birth to twin girls as reported by Daniel Hernandez for the Los Angeles Times.

The allegations are sure to further fuel speculation that the United States is allying itself with El Chapo's group in order to defeat the insurgency-minded Los Zetas in Mexico which has ties to terrorist groups including Hezbollah.
Indeed, a top lieutenant for the Sinaloa cartel claimed last August that he and other reputed leaders including El Chapo were allowed by U.S. authorities to bring cocaine into the country for years in exchange for information on rivals, and federal prosecutors admit to at least one cooperating agreement with a lawyer for El Chapo although they otherwise deny that Sinaloa traffickers have received immunity from prosecution.

An increasing number of well-respected and highly-informed individuals conjecture that the U.S. "Fast and Furious" gun-running scandal was a CIA operation to arm the Sinaloa cartel in order to defeat Los Zetas.

Forty high-powered assault weapons from the Fast & Furious operation recently were found in the home of a reputed enforcer for the Sinaloa cartel as reported by Richard A. Serrano for the Los Angeles Times: "'These Fast and Furious guns were going to Sinaloans, and they are killing everyone down there,' said one knowledgeable U.S. government source, who asked for anonymity because of the ongoing investigations."
