Occupy Wall Street’s Bank Account Is Swelling
ABC News ^ | October 11, 2011 | Alyssa Newcomb

Money might not make the world go round for the protesters in New York City’s Zuccotti Park, but it’s certainly starting to help. The movement, which has been described as “organized anarchy” with no presiding leader, has its very own finance team to handle the influx of donations — which totaled more than $50,000 Tuesday — the group has received. The money is now being kept in a credit union account at the Amalgamated Bank.

“[It's a sign] we’re growing very fast,” said Bre Lembitz, a senior economics major at Clark University who is spending this semester working with Occupy Wall Street after her internship fell through.

Lembitz said the move to a bank has made it easier for the group to accept larger donations.

The money was previously kept in pots, which were used to collect money from passersby sympathetic to the cause.

Currently, any expenditure of $100 or more is voted on at the General Assembly, a daily meeting for everyone in the park to learn the latest Occupy Wall Street news. Anyone who shows up has a vote.

But there are plans to streamline things this week.

“We’re actually launching a website on Thursday for members of our working groups so we can better coordinate how to spend all of the money that’s coming in,” Lembitz said. That includes the media team, the medical unit, the sanitation team and even an archivist, to name a few....

OWS is merely a conduit from Soros’ bank account to the local pot dealers

Then they can pay for the costs of squatting in the park.

Probably raised same way Obama raised money in his 2008 campaign: Cash contributions (funneled) of less than $100 made anonymously.

Cracks me up the way they’re playing pretend government with a “general assembly”. Like a bunch of 10 year old girls. (You know, the bossy ones)

Good God...can we see the irony in this. Big business, rich liberals...all of whom these protesters are protesting against...and they are pouring money into the OWS coffers.

Imagine if all that money, food, shelter, clothing, etc. was just GIVEN TO TRULY NEEDY FAMILIES. Rather than to the slouchers cluttering up the cities with their dirt, trash, drugs...oh, and, yes, protest signs and vile language. Let the people who are really looking for jobs have the money instead of those who are deficating on cop cars and making out under tarps in the street.

And if those people in the streets are so darn concerned about the welfare of the less fortunate, why the heck are they taking the money and using it for themselves and their own selfish concerns? Why aren't they passing out the donations? They could go to the homes of the poor and take food, money, clothing, etc. instead of standing in front of homes of the wealthy and behaving so badly. They could really do some good, but instead they play "gimmee" and wait for the handouts for themselves.

It makes no good sense, except to the envious, lazy demonstrators who have nothing better to do than throw tantrums. If they were serious, concerned citizens they would do something worthwhile. Turning our cities into cesspools is not worthwhile. It is accomplishing nothing.

Don’t these people work, or at least have responsibilities? Where do they get the time for this nonsense?

I wonder who’s name is on the account. They can take that money and ride off into the Sunset. Of course, why do it while there are still suckers out there flooding the money in.

So a couple thousand Tea Partiers could show up and vote to disband the anarchists. I wonder what would happen then?

Yeah, right. They're running ads for new 'protesters' on Craig's List. This is a highly organized group a few steps down from ACORN...

This is a purely bullshit story. For a “movement” that is supposedly spreading to thousands of “countries”, they should have a lot more money than 50K.

Seems human error cost them $144,000 (in another story).

An old name, Chuck Kaufman, terms up with these groups. Anyone remember him from the marxist Sandinista support group “Nicaragua Network”? If so, send information to me or post her.

Looks like the professional reds are moving in to take over Occupy Wall Street, just like the jihadists are moving in on the people’s revolt in Libya.

George Soros involved in both?

With the rich commies and the global communist and socialist parties backing them, I would have expected them to have about 50 MILLION in donations by now.

Hell, since these people don’t understand the concept of economics and capitalism, they will just spend the money on selfish goods (ie condoms, pot, birth control, and other legal and illegal drugs), then leave a trail of garbage.

On another note, if they are holding “votes” on certain decisions, I say a bunch of conservatives go down there and skew the votes. You may have to hold your nose, but the puzzling faces you will see would be priceless.

Well, isn't this just a win-win situation for everyone involved?

Corporation that owns Zuccotti Park, home to Occupy Wall Street protests, just got a $168 million Obama Dept of Energy loan guarantee -- for a windfarm!

Oh, at the same link above, Mr. Zuccotti seems to have been involved in a little mutual back-scratching with Obama on Obamacare.

Obama seems to have already paid up for the cost of the protesters squatting in the park:
