Occupy Wall Street, Occupy the Fed, Sarah Palin and why the USA is a dying country.

I have been trying my best to pay attention to everything happening in the United States and as a political science major one would assume that I would have a great grasp the ebb and flow of the current American Climate.

My honest answer when asked has been a resounding- it's confusing. There is something bigger stirring the pot and many people are conflicted. There are people that are so far Right politically that they are almost left and some people that are so far Left that they should just handcuff their own arms-these people are begging for imprisonment. The power holders in my opinion are loving the confusion. They are flooding people with so much information purposefully to confuse the uneducated and in turn you see people wandering protest rallies really unsure of the what they are protesting against. It has become surreal.

I have spent a few days working on some video editing and I was watching various clips from protestors from various different movements. These video clips included videos from the Tea Party, The Occupy Wall Street crowd, The Occupy The Fed crowd, and a small get together of the leftist Coffee Party. I am not making fun of the Coffee Party but I honestly do not understand their goals; they seem intent on changing the foundation of this country. The constitution means nothing to most of them. I understand many of their frustrations but not their solutions. They seem to gain quite a bit of publicity but their demonstrations never seem to materialize past a few dozen lost souls.

I really need some help. I thought this article was a pretty good read but I just cannot get excited for Bachmann. Can the Michelle B fans give me some reasons why some of should give her a second look? This article is very harsh on Palin. I still love palin but I am disappointed. I even want to change my user name. The good part of the article is past the 300 word part. Sorry I could not link the whole thing. It is a good read. I agree with the writer that if it was not for the Tea Party our country would be gone forever. That saddens me.

How many times have we elected someone president who only has the House of Reprsentatives on their resume? And how many times someone with absolutely no government experience? Any idea?

My favorite today is Cain. He has been my second choice for a long time now.

Just a couple that I can think of. Mostly governors. This leaves Romney, Perry. I do not like either. I like Cain. I do not understand bachmann at all to be honest. I semi like Santorum but that is a pipedream. Senators do not become president often either. That again leaves Romney, Perry. This is leading me down the path that Palin will endorse Perry and that will be a done deal. I do not see her endorsing Romney and I think Cain is too much bucking the system even for Palin.

haha. That is true I keep forgetting that she could become vp, very slight chance but a a chance it is.

I would not mind seeing her endorse cain, then become his vp and just destroying Obama in the general. I would love love love that. I just think that Cain needs establishment money and its too much anti-establishment for that scenario to happen.

There was only one president who had only the House on his resume, and he won in a strange 4-way election that’s unlikely to happen again. We’ve NEVER had a president with no government experience. We elect governors, generals, vice president and senators, pretty much in that order. Oh, and Lincoln was the individual I was referring to.

Awesome. I was aware of most of that. But it was a nice refresher. I do always think of Carter as only a peanut farmer.. and Lincoln your right. Great points. So is the writing on the wall?

President Carter was a naval officer and governor of Georgia, Bush 41 was a naval officer, in the House, ambassador to China, Director of Central Intelligence and vice president, Reagan was an army officer and governor of California, Bush 43 was governor of Texas and the present de facto chief executive was a senator.

Since nobody has yet to answer your query, I'll save you the trouble of educating those reading this thread.

In the entire history of this nation, one, and ONLY one House member was elected president and that was Garfield and there were extenuating circumstances which do NOT apply now and especially to Bachmann, who is no Garfield.

Out side of generals ( Washington, Jackson, and Ike ) we do NOT ever elect people with absolutely NO elected experience and this nation has always laughed at those who decided to try to start at the top,by running for president, without elected experience.

I can see why their resume helped their chances but I was not a fan of carter, bush 41, and only liked the first term of 43. Tarp is an abomination I just can’t forgive.

In other words maybe the time is ripe for something unique to happen? I know history would say otherwise but still....

Oh good grief !

Governors are elected and the have executive experience, unlike Cain!

Senators are also elected and many have run for and been elected president recently!

I know all of this? I was asking why someone would like michele bachmann which fits none of the criteria being discussed. I understand governors are first in line. I understand the discussion. My question was simple: Why do people support Bachmann? I am not even being critical I just want to understand.

As for Cain. I accept that he has very little chance given history. But I also think that people are tired of career politicians and it might be possible for someone like Cain to surge and get the nomination. I know the chance may be small but it is not an impossibility.

All this talk about no leadership, government experience etc about Herman Cain I have to ask these questions.

1. What recent politician created real private sector jobs and created more wealth from nothing than Herman Cain?

2. How does not heading up a 100+ franchise group for Burger King then forming Godfather’s not qualify as executive leadership?

Now I know, none of it is “government” however it is executive material through and through. Do we really need someone stepped in the system from beginning to end from baby step politician to the big enchilada politician?

Ask yourself this, Michael Savage credited with the theme, is Barack Obama and Romney or Perry really the best this country has to offer? REALLY?

I agree with you 100%. I was saying I think the country is ready for something different. History may disagree but the timing is perfect for a candidate that is not a career politician. I am trying to not get my hopes up like I did with Palin. But I would love to pull the lever for Cain.

I've NEVER understood the Bachmann thing as I've always seen her as a 10th rate Palin wannabe, when she began this run and as a rather pathetic woman;especially due to her Rollins hire and Palin bashing.

She has been nothing but a rather quiet backbencher, with no Bills sponsored and passed, not chair of any committee, and if I have to hear her say, that she has 5 biological children and raised (which she most assuredly did NOT )23 foster kids, one more time, I'm going to scream!

Cain's nonexistent political resume disqualifies him utterly! WHY ? Because the ONLY time he ran, he lost the primary......not even an election. He has NO experience in how to run a campaign and it shows!

Generals have to deal with the government, to some extent. Governors and Senators know how governments work. Both also know lots of of people well, on that level,so they know WHO to pick for their Cabinets and advisers. They get people they trust to help out with who to pick for judge-ships and such. Generals get lots of insider help.

Cain?he doesn't have any of that knowledge and neither is he well informed about much of anything at all.

I've always said that he is a good man, as far as I know, but nobody knows what may be lurking in his closet, who his advisers are, who thought up that stupid 999 thing, that has less than NO chance of ever going anywhere.

Those who are all in for him ignore these things and more; sadly.

An "outsider" may appeal, but it's an emotional appeal, with no thought about just HOW tings work! And the LAST thing we need is someone who has to "learn on the job",yet again. Though I don't see Cain getting the nod,but if he should there is NO WAY he can beat Obama; none at all!

The answer to your final query is HELL NO, but nobody else is willing to attempt the run. We're stuck with what we have.

As to your first lamentable spew......running/turning around a company like GODFATHER'S PIZZA is NO experience at all, when faced with our Congress and the other kinds of things president of this nation have to be involved with.

Cain has absolutely NO experience in dealing with pols. He doesn't know enough about picking a cabinet, let alone dealing with foreign countries.

I do agree his answer on foreign policy in the debates was not confidence inspiring at all. He basically said he had no idea. Sad really.

I agree with that. I was biased being a palin ban but bachmann has always appeared to me as a 10th rate palin wannabe. I am having a hard time taking her seriously. Maybe that will change but I hear nothing about her anymore, its like she quit already.
