When you throw in the term VAT in regards to 9-9-9 it indicates you either have no clue what a VAT is or what is in 9-9-9.
VAT and 9-9-9 are totally different. So if you are so exicited about Mr Cain, why are you completely ignorant of what is in the 9-9-9 plan?
I like Cain and it has nothing to do with his skin color. Who, currently in the race, has better experience for the office?
That column was written with all the introspection of the average 7th grader.
When Cain supporters say things like, honkies for Herman, or crackers for cain, you know its about race. I was always repulsed by the “old white guys for obama” bumperskickers, that I still see from time to time, and I am just as repulsed by honkies for herman etc, for the same reason......race politics...ugh.
Speak for yourself, Franklin.
His skin color is not at all what I have focused on.
I have focused on his accomplishments, his statements, and his actions--also his intelligence, promise, abilities, courage, clarity, and much, much more--none of which has ANYTHING to do with skin color.
Frankly--I don't give a damn what it is, but I think Cain is a terrific man just as he is.
ADVICE TO FRANKLIN KOMET: Stop focusing on people's skin color, and start paying attention to their accomplishments, statements, and actions--and, above all, what goes on BENEATH THE SKIN--
Not just in politics but everywhere else.
P.S. (MESSAGE TO FRANKLIN) Skin color is about as relevant as hair color. Would you rather have a blonde President or a brunette. And is a redhead out of the question?
I was starting to like Cain until he dropped the race card....or let himself be sandbagged into appearing to do so. I won’t be supporting him in the primary.
Also, I hate paying sales tax more than I do income tax. So, I don’t like his taxation plan....and it will NEVER be enacted...not because I don’t like it....because it will never get through the legislative process.
Unless Palin jumps in, I’m still voting for Bachmann on principle.
Palin isn’t running.
She isn’t in the race.
We have to choose from the candidates who are.
RAISE CAIN. He is by far the best candidate in the field, I am SICK of establisment politicians.
When my wife first told me about Cain I was very, VERY impressed. After we discussed what she read of his dossier, she said, “Oh, By the way, here is the best part.” and showed me a picture of him. Before that I didn’t even know he was black and liked him a lot.
It’s not about race for me, except I think he will get the vote of a lot of black (and any remaining white guilt) racists.
I like Cain but he was on with Hannity this week when Hannity did one of lame impressions of a black guy. ALL of Hannitys impressions are bad but anyway, Cain ended the interview with, “I’ll teach you the right way to talk” (paraphrasing)
And while I’m on the subject of Hannity, he insisted on using the “African American” term while Cain said “I don’t do PC real well”. I liked that a lot!
-I now think that 2008 was a mistake. There was an unwarranted abundance of goodwill extended to an unknown candidate with an unknown track record. That candidate was Barack Obama.—
I certainly agree with that statement, as it stands on its own.
I find it funny the standards we hold the most Conservative declared candidates but we bypass the ‘establishment’ candidates with. With Cain, Santorum, or even Bachmann, we reject them for some stupid wording issues we disagree with on a response (that really is a statement on the media and not Cain) but some demand we overlook major broken legs in the platforms of other candidates.
And MN, you are right, there has been a major misrepresentation of the 999 as a VAT. They are completely different.
Cain has the type of experience I want: bringing back businesses and making them profitable. That's what we need for the USA. The only thing that worries me is Mr. Cain trying to bring a recalcitrant Congress along for the ride.
The author did raise valid concerns regarding Cain, namely the problem posed by the abuse of a VAT tax, Cain’s praise of Bernancke, and his lack of political experience. However, that being said, the author offers no other alternative candidate. My chief concern is defeating Romney and right now, Cain is best positioned to challenge him. With the GOP field as it stands now, this process is more about excluding the wrong candidates than it is about selecting the best candidate. That could change if...
Right now, Cain is the best option out there. ...He needs to stop getting drawn into the pop issues of the day, and turn up the heat on Obama. But, ...that could be considered racist.
Cain was on the Neil Boortz show this morning. To paraphrase, Neil asked him what the heck was up with him allowing the media to lead him by the nose through every minor scandal of their making.
Cain agreed that he shouldn’t have done so.
Neil suggested that he should have answered the hunting compound controversy by saying, “I’m focused on what’s going to happen during the next four years - NOT on what supposedly happened 20 yrs ago.”
Cain conceded that was a much better answer and that is what he should have said.
Cain made a mistake. I chalk that mistake up to inexperience with the national media more than I do an attempt to race-bait. I don’t think he’ll make that same mistake, again.
9-9-9 won’t turn into VAT, it is intended to turn into the FairTax; I am not a fan of FairTax as proposed, because it punishes those of us who are older and have saved post-tax dollars for our whole lives. The FairTax will tax us on that money again when we spend it.
But I don’t expect 9-9-9 to be implemented, so it doesn’t bother me as a proposal. At least Cain has ideas.
The problem with Cain’s willingness to jump to race-baiting so easily is a serious one, although not just because of how offensive it is to call someone a racist who is not a racist.
THe simply fact is that there is a minority of people who WILL vote for republicans but who ARE somewhat racist, or at least consider race enough that they would hesitate to vote for a black person. I think we can still get their votes for a black person, but only if they perceive that black person as not threatening.
When that black candidate starts calling other people racists when they clearly are not, I think it gives these race-conscious voters all the excuse they need to reject the candidate. It’s not fair, it’s not helpful, it’s unsupportable, but it is also reality.
I wouldn’t have any problem voting for a “threatening” black guy. I consider myself “post-racial”. But I can’t deny that there are people who aren’t at that point.
I want the guy the will go to the White House and veto every appropriations bill that crosses his desk. I want the guy that through executive order stops most of the nonsense spending done by the various departments. I want the guy that will order an executive hiring freeze. I want the guy who will refuse to appoint a Secretary of Commerce, Labor, Education, Energy, HUD, HHS, Drug Czar, Green Czar, Auto Company Czar. I want the guy who will shut it down. I want the guy that will make the federal civil service work force squeal the loudest.
Is that Herman Cain? If it is he has my vote.
I’m excited by Cain because he knows math and science and can argue against global warming and other math heavy issues effectively.
Who is behind Unite and State?
