Postal Worker Unions Oveload Tea Party Group With More Than 100 Pounds of Mail
The Daily Caller ^ | 09/30/2011 | Matthew Boyle

“I find the idea of the unions attacking a tea party group for simply supporting a bill that would make our whole country more efficient and that would lower the cost of the taxpayers’ yearly contributions to an inefficient agency, is just outrageous,” Keene said in a phone

>I send out thousands of packages a week, all with tracking. It is amazing how much of the time, the packages end up going on tours of the United States. One was delivered to the postal center in TN, same town as the eventual destination. Three days later it was in Atlanta, four days after in FL, and finally, it’s back in TN and might actually get delivered 10 days after arriving at the same post office.<

It’s the same thing with Fedex and UPS. We sent an impt package to our customer via Fedex in Dana Point CA which can be driven from our office in Hollywood and arrived there the next afternoon. We sent another package by UPS and it had many collection points it pissed us off.

UPS is unionized like USPS. I hate these effing unions.

Kwithcurbelliachin! These clowns are doing a great job of putting some of their money (and time) back into their failing business!

From the picture pile of mail, there are about 8-10 pieces of mail per pound, or approx. 900 pcs. there. The postage for this mail would add up to over $1,000.00 a week, or over 300K a year.

Let's hope the volume increases at its current rate, and within a few months the USPS can begin to show a profit.

Seriously, they do provide valuable services that no others do, but drastic reforms/realignments are needed to bring them into the 21st century.

I have a different take on this.

Good to see the unions supporting their own and the Post Office. The postage on all these letters they are sending is probably helping to keep the Post Office running. I just hope they aren't sending so much that overtime is required to process it. That would be a negative thing.

Oh, and Donna Wiesner Keene, if you don't need all that mail, find someone with a wood stove who can roll it into heating fuel.

6 years? So that means you missed out on those tax refund checks. Someone probably took your tax refund and cashed it. LOL!
You also must not have any insurance, a mortgage, or a car.

I disagree. The Post Office is one of the few things that We the People have actually authorized Congress to do. Trying to close the post office is a move by the ruling class to further establish that we live in a "post constitutional America" and our founding documents don't matter. I'm not willing to go there.

If you want to privatize the Post Office, propose an amendment to the constitution to remove authority for it from the Constitution first.

The only reason they provide services no one else does is because they have a congressionally mandated monopoly prohibiting any others from competing.

FedEx could start up a cheaper, more efficient first class mail system tomorrow if the gov’t allowed them to.

I wonder if the union actually paid for this or do they have some clause in their contract where they get free postage?

US post office is one agency that actually is supposed to be in the fedgov’s jurisdiction. The TP should focus their efforts elsewhere, like depts. of energy and education.

See exactly, you think you’re making a joke, but you are actually accurate.

Those refunds go directly in my bank account from the government. You should try it.

I don’t have a mortgage, or a car, and the only insurance I have is health from work, which sends all my stuff tot he office.... cause I live in NYC and rent.

So yeah, no need for that mail.

I’m lucky enough relatives live within in person distance for birthday’s and holidays!

I am pro constitution on this. The post office is mandated by the constitution.

Do unions have the right to free speech? If a letter is sent by mail the post office is required by law to deliver them. The tea party group is protected by the constitution in that it must get the mail sent to them. If they were with holding mail that would be a federal crime but this is just the postal workers exercising their first amendments rights. The tea party group could waste it’s time sending letters back if they wanted. Or perhaps call them tree killers.

You think the USPS union is bad??

Just wait till it is seriously clear that the whole Federal Government MUST be drastically downsized...(and it IS already clear), and they must go off the Fed payrolls.

These Fed workers will go bat sh!t crazy. They will prolly try to overthrow the U.S. just to keep their paychecks coming.

I fear they will form some sort of un-holy alliance with the military to simply nullify any budget legislation that
drastically cuts spending.

I love the military but they get a paycheck from the Federal Government and I don’t trust anybody that does.

Rip off indeed! Were it not for government interference, cities would have thermaldepolymerization facilities and could turn waste into oil....without the need to even have landfill properties.

Ah so... I see. So you have turned your life over to be totally dependent on others. Thankfully I don’t have to live in a hellhole like NYC. You call that livin’?

Are they bulky objects like bracelets, pins, etc shoved into a conventional mailing envelope and postmarked standard?

If so, the reason is the machines are NOT designed to deal with mail with bulky crap in them. I’m amazed they handle them at all.
