If The Left Can Ruin Rick Perry, They Can Rule You
September 25, 2011 | Vanity

Posted on 09/25/2011 9:18:40 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

Only 4 things can be highlighted as “topic” designations for a thread post. I found it a hard choice because – business/economy, education, government, health/medicine, history, military, politics, religion, science and society all should be included.

It is being reported by environmentalists -- believers in a socialist “green” religion -- that their judgment and knowledge is being resisted by “unscientific, religious deniers” hell-bent on blocking their path. So the deniers need to be “identified” for the good of humankind. This is dangerous. This morning I posted an article that explores with alarm, how Global Warming Consensus is denied by conservatives – that their resistance is an ever growing problem stemming from the religious right in America. The American ‘Allergy’ to Global Warming: Why?

I posted it because Gov. Rick Perry was mentioned at the top of the article. And there is good reason why. Socialists around the world know that Rick Perry has been fighting them on the legal front, the education front, and the environmental front for years. Due to his past, he knows why and where they are determined to lead us. Why would Rick Perry feel so strongly about these issues and their connection to states' rights and free market capitalism? Why does the Left recognize the danger of a Rick Perry controlling the Bully Pulpit of the White House, his veto, his appointments?

Rick Perry grew up on a farm (I know he keeps telling us this but I think it is done for a reason). His mother sewed his clothes. They worked and went to church. Rick Perry was a Boy Scout, earning Eagle Scout rank (so has his son). Rick Perry was a member of the Future Farmers of America. He went to Texas A&M and was a member of the Corps. Rick Perry joined the Air Force, serving 5 years. He flew C-130s around the world before returning to West Texas and the family farm. He courted his future wife, taught Sunday school and worked the land with his father. And in time he went into state politics.

Rick Perry is a self made man. He was called one of the Pit-bulls in the Texas legislature because he was a Democrat member who sat in the lower pit of the House Appropriations Committee and bitterly fought spending increases. He is naturally a conservative. In 1989 he joined the Republican Party that had begun taking root in Texas as the Democratic Party ideology began moving left. Perry ran for the Agriculture Commission seat against leftist Jim Hightower and won. In 1998 Rick Perry ran for Lt. Gov. and won (he was the first Republican Lt. Gov. elected since Reconstruction).

When George W. Bush became president in 2000, Rick Perry became the governor of Texas. He has been reelected twice (the last time beating out Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, a candidate supported by the Bush family and Karl Rove in a primary challenge). When Gov. Rick Perry was elected in 2010 for his 3rd term, he was joined by a Republican super majority in the Texas legislature. Major legislation was passed and signed by Gov. Perry, including (after a 6 year struggle) Photo Voter ID and tighter controls over how money is spent. Perry's history of being attacked by the mainstream media is well known and his election was won without one endorsement by a mainstream media outlet.

Rick Perry has served twice as Chairman of the Republican Governor’s Association. The country has seen a rise in the number of conservative governors and state legislatures in recent elections. Rick Perry broke fundraising records for the RGA. And now Rick Perry is a candidate in the GOP Primary for President of the United States. He wants to lower taxes, return states' rights, repeal Obama care, and remove the regulations and laws that are strangling our economy, and get people back to work.

Currently, the Left is battling Gov. Rick Perry’s stand on Big Education (unions) and EPA Energy and Environment dictates. Trial lawyers have made it known they plan to block any more power going to Rick Perry, as he has won so many victories against them as the Gov. of Texas. The Left knows Rick Perry has his own religious beliefs and does not adhere to their pseudo green religion. They know he understands the land, that he was brought up in a religious home and has worked for everything he has. The Left knows he attended a school that didn’t teach him to hate his country but rather instilled love of country. They know he served in the military and still encourages boys to become Boy Scouts. The Left can not put the lie to the fact that Texas' economy is running rings around Obama's disastrous economic policies. The Left knows that when Rick Perry shows compassion – has a heart – it isn’t because he wants to make you dependent on him but rather to set you free.

If the Left can demonize Gov. Perry, a man who believes in standing with our allies, making government as inconsequential as possible in our lives and who holds firmly to his belief in American exceptionalism – if they can successfully define him as a rightwing religious dunce, while simultaneously encouraging people in the GOP Primary to lambast him as someone who isn’t conservative, then the Left will have won the ideological battle -- their war against capitalism will be complete and they will permanently Rule America.

I hope they keep “misunderestimating” him. He is a much tougher nut to crack than they know. Let him continue on and show who he is and what he can do for America. Then we’ll see....!!

I know Perry is your man but I’m wondering how much research you have actually done on the guy. I’m currently doing some research on Perry and his relationship with the TTC (Trans Texas Corridor) and H.B. Zachry, Jr. or Zachry Construction Corporation. Zachry has a limited partnership with Cintra which is a consortium based in Spain and who would actually be given control of the TTC for 50 years following it’s completion.

The 11 separate corridors planned will permanently cut across some 1,200 Texas roads, with crossover unlikely for much of the nearly quarter-mile-wide corridor planned to be built. Dozens of small towns in Texas will be virtually obliterated in the path of the advancing Trans-Texas Corridor behemoth. While supporters, like Perry's administration, call it a necessity, critics says the TTC appears to be the test case for future development of a NAFTA superhighway that would extend north through Oklahoma City, Kansas City and Duluth into Canada, largely parallel to I-35. The TTC project at full development will involve the removal of as much as 584,000 acres of productive Texas farm and ranchland from the tax rolls permanently, while displacing upwards of 1 million people from their current residences.

There’s a lot of money being contributed to officials in Texas and Perry is smack dab in the middle of that mess.

If your guy gets the nod the general is going to obliterate him if what I’m finding is even mostly accurate. His associations with those who propose the North American Union would be part of that with conservatives.

Most Conservative State Representative in Texas Endorses Rick Perry for President - Explains Trans-Texas Corridor

Environmentalist activists and political opponents demagogue against necessary transportation infrastructure for a state exploding with commerce and population.

Comptroller Carole Keeton McClellan Rylander Strayhorn [self-identified as, "Grandma"], currently adrift on signature collection waters in her bid for Independent Gubernatorial validity, has been a fixture at CW.org events, railing prodigiously (yet without substance) against the TTC, and the very concept of toll roads. But herein arises a consistent theme when discussing Madame Comptroller; her inconsistency. Because prior to her decision to run against the TTC-proposing Governor Rick Perry, she too saw the meritoriousness of the concept of consumption road funding.

”Big Bad” Cintra: ".......".......The SH 130 Concession Company is an independent company formed by Cintra, a multinational corporation based in Spain, and Zachry American Infrastructure headquartered in San Antonio. Cintra, described as one of the world’s largest private-sector developers of transportation infrastructure, currently manages 21 toll highways worldwide. Cintra’s portfolio includes the Chicago Skyway, the Indiana Toll Road and the 407 ETR toll highway in and around Toronto, Canada.

Zachry American Infrastructure was created in 2005 to develop U.S. infrastructure investments in the transportation, energy and water sectors. The Zachry family’s older entity, Zachry Construction Corp., has built more than 1,000 heavy construction projects including more than 110 projects along the U.S. Interstate highway system. Cintra-Zachry in June 2006 reached a $1.3 billion agreement with the state of Texas to build segments 5 and 6 of SH 130. In exchange for its investment, Cintra-Zachry gets the right to collect tolls for 50 years in a revenue-sharing agreement with the state......"

Yes, I know about the TTC and Gardacil and I disagreed with Perry on both of those issues. (mostly because of how he tried to force them upon us here in Texas (more so than being afraid that gardacil would make our children retarded, or having any issue with large highways)

But in the broader scope, these are fairly minor issues, mostly to do with execution more than substance for me at least.

Which brings us to immigration... if Perry were nearly as bad as some here would have you believe, then that would affect my ability to vote for him.

But the fact is Perry wants to shut the boarder, and has spent 100’s of millions of Texas taxpayer dollars fighting the invasion with W and now Obama fighting him every step of the way, he just doesn't think a fence alone is the solution. He is completely against amnesty, and I find it completely ironic that Perry has probably been directly responsible for apprehending more illegal aliens than all the others on that stage combined, and yet he is the one getting attacked for being soft on immigration, If you think about it the accusation (especially coming from Romney of all people) is so preposterous that you can almost see how it left Perry sputtering and almost speechless in shock. It would be like Perry being in a debate with Obama and suddenly Obama starts attacking Perry for being a socialist.

You’ve got your rose colored glasses on and it’s going to come back to bite you unless Perry simply finishes his implosion (which I think he will) then it won’t come out anyway.

Rick Perry is for illegal aliens. He isn’t serious about securing the border. If he is getting beat by Flip Romney on that issue, it is his own fault.

Rick Perry is for illegal aliens.

I'd like you to take the time to read this and then tell me if what you stated is an honest assessment of the facts.

What a misleading title. The left didn’t ruin Rick Perry. His wounds are all self-inflicted.

Surely you can find a more honest way to support your candidate, than to spin like a liberal.

Rick Perry is your guy and from what I've read you have defended him well. You should also be commended for making every effort to stay above the fray. Good for you. Truth is, Perry has a lot of supporters and defenders on Free Republic. You are not alone.

OTOH, Perry has his share of detractors and smear merchants and for them its all about seizing the moment. And moment is right now. Perry has been dumped on and he's been damaged. Not just with innuendo, half truths, falsehoods and the cheap pot shot. He has been damaged by self inflicted wounds. That last one should be of paramount concern to his campaign. It's also the one area Perry's staff can control and handle best. Honest debate is one thing. Insulting remarks only hurt Perry's efforts.

Its not over for Perry but he needs to regroup and get prepared for the next debate on Oct 11th at Dartmouth. Perry needs to make a strong statement why he should be the GOP nominee and not allow Myth Romney to take back the lead again, and build up a head of steam into the Feb 2012 primaries. The long time liberal and rino from Massachusetts must be defeated. Perry&Company need to start playing smartball. They must figure out a way to expose Romney's real record of political expediency and liberalism, as they promote Perry's long record of conservatism as Texas Governor.

Help me out here. So Gov Perry's shock troops say President Obie has been fighting Perry tooth and nail over this immigration thing. Perry has been governor 11 years. Obie has been in the WH 2 +/-. What about the other 9 years???

An illegal alien was drunk driving when he hit and killed my step-father. My step-father lived for several hours in a bloody coma before he finally succumbed to his injuries.

The IA then fled back to Mexico to avoid prosecution and was never brought to justice.

I’m tired of it, too.

IMHO, Perry is giving shelter to the enemies of our nation and is a traitor.

Yes. I’m heartless when it comes to this issue.

Rick should have never used the term "heartless" when describing consetrvatives who do not ascribe to his viwews on tuition fees for the children of illegals.

Then, the next day in an interview...he defended it.

This was a HUGE mistake for him and he needed to retract it instead of defend it. Hs should retract it now and back away from that position.

Jeff, it's too late for him to retract that statement now. The time for him to have done so, was on the day after, when he instead, doubled down on it. In my opinion, that was an even bigger mistake than what he did the night before.

Reversing course now, will only make it appear to anyone familiar with his statements, that he's simply switching his position for political expediency, and that he is dishonest.

I'm afraid his position on in state tuition for illegals is a keeper, whether he wants to keep it, or not.

I have a niece who has been in a long-term care facility for 10 years. She was T-boned by a drunk driver in AZ when she was 18. She will never walk, talk or function as she had her first 18 years. She is an only child.

The driver was Mexican, in the country illegally, and twice cited for drunk driving and allowed to remain in the U.S. He fled the scene was arrested from information about the vehicle. He was convicted -- served 7 years and deported. I have no doubt he is back in the U.S. driving drunk.

I hate this and I know Gov. Perry WILL SEAL the border.

Even as Democrat, Perry voted twice for Reagan, aide says Gov. Rick Perry was a Democrat until the late 1980s, but he voted for Ronald Reagan in the 1980 and 1984 presidential elections, a top aide said today.

Perry spokesman Ray Sullivan told MSNBC’s Chuck Todd that Perry voted for Reagan in each of those elections, even when Perry himself was on the ballot as a Democratic candidate for state representative in 1984.

Perry has come under fire from U.S. Rep. Ron Paul — his fellow GOP presidential candidate — for supporting Democrat Al Gore for president in 1988. Texas was a much more Democratic state back then, and Perry has said he viewed Gore at the time as a conservative Democrat.

Last month in South Carolina, an unidentified voter in South Carolina who confronted Perry over his Democratic past told CNN that Perry acknowledged supporting Democratic President Jimmy Carter in 1980. The network does not appear to have witnessed that conversation.

Perry has acknowledged supporting Carter in 1976, with the hope that he would be good for farmers. [end]

I’m not Perrybot, just disgusted by the ease with which so-called conservatives are letting themselves be manipulated.

"Manipulated"? No one's manipulating the conservatives who are commenting on this thread (and elsewhere in cyberspace). Rick Perry slapped us across the face, and we're pissed about it.

The only one doing any manipulating is Rick Perry, who tried to fool the voters into believing that he's an honest conservative. He's nothing of the sort.
