Man, Rick Perry is freaking out the New York Times. Gail Collins is all:
You think of Rick Perry, you think of Texas. And more Texas. Perry the cowboy coyote-killer, the lord of the Texas job-creation machine, the g-dropping glad-hander with a “howdy” for every stranger in the room. He barely exists in the national mind outside of the Texas connection. And Maureen Dowd is all over the place talking about Perry with references to an obvious and old Hollywood movie.

IF you'd rather NOT be pinged FReepmail me.
IF you'd like to be added FReepmail me. Thanks.
Texas politicians are married and tainted to being too deferential to the Mexicans. The country needs someone not compromised to the Mexicans. Enough of Texas politicians controlling the White House.
My answer is not there.
Yes. But they can’t help themselves.
None so deeply, intensely Texan? Really? Cause, I’m thinking LBJ was pretty intensely Texan.
Now that comes from Texas A & M...all Aggies greet people with HOWDY.
some of the comments at the link are funny:
“Thank you for reading the NYT so I don’t have to.”
:o)
Better than a Kenyan.
Yep, we all had to suffer through LBJ’s presidency and the war on poverty....poverty won...
LBJ was before their time...LBJ was a very gross man...Texan or not...he was gross...Perry is nothing like LBJ...
Say what? You mean LBJ was not an intense Texan? Who’da thunk it.
Actually, Maureen Dowd sounds a lot like the nitwits on FR who spend their time attacking Perry for his hardcore Texas Americanism, AKA. mainstream conservatism. I just don’t see that innuendo, rumor and gossip holding up with the vast majority of conservatives in the end.
Texas needs to end this little experiment with Federal Union and step away.
I'm from Texas, of Texas, and in Texas. I say we sell the federal bedpan for whatever salvage value it has, and head off into the sunset. I'm worn out with the Union of States thing. Nothing personal, but so long, and thanks for the fish.

LBJ was President when I went off to Vietnam. He was terrible, wouldn’t let us fight to win. I really loathed that man.
She does! I wonder what her screen name is. :)
But it wasn't flattering. At all. Not even a question of misundertanding what daddy said.

LBJ was disgusting. I was too young to vote in ‘64, but I couldn’t wait to vote against him in ‘68, but he slinked away.
So true. I can't imagine Perry giving interviews to people while sitting on the loo like LBJ did.
(showing my age here) When I was little, we would go to his Birthday Party's. His Ranch on the Pedernales was down river from my Grandparent's farm. He had a car that could drive on land or in the water..I thought that was the coolest car.
She is known by many names. ;^)
