As the tenth anniversary of the 9/11 terror attack on our country approaches, every American should pause to reflect upon the cultural and economic transmogrification of our country. Economically, we are distinctly poorer. In 2001, the price of gasoline was $1.52. It remained above $2 for nearly the entire Bush Presidency and has crossed the $4 barrier, remaining stubbornly above $3 for nearly the entire Obama admistration. The Dow Jones Industrial Average, which stood at 11,175 on June 5, 2001, after some wild gyrations, now stands...still...at a dismal 10,992, lower than it was when Bill Clinton left office. George Bush hardly deserves any great praise in this regard since the DOW stood at a miserable 8829 when he left office in January 2009 and, even before the September 2008 financial meltdown, posted a lackluster 11,543 on August 29, 2008.
Meanwhile, the Islamofascist regimes in the Middle East are awash in oil profits, representing a gigantic transfer of our wealth to them since 9/11.
Culturally, the transformation of our country has been even more apparent. The feverish outreach to Islam, post 9/11, which began under Bush and accelerated under Obama, is particularly odd in light of the fact that nineteen Islamic adherents perpetrated the attacks on Washington and New York. No one would advocate a Korematsu-style internment of American citizens, who adhere to Islam, or even discrimination against them. But the degree to which our society has been culturally bent to the will of Islam in the last decade is truly perplexing. It would be akin to an outreach to Shintoism and Japanese culture by FDR after Pearl Harbor. The correct approach for Muslim Americans would be the one taken by Japanese Americans after Pearl Harbor. Their horror and embarrassment over Pearl Harbor spurred them to deeds of unprecedented valor and patriotism embodied in the legendary "Go For Broke" 442nd Regiment of Japanese Americans, the most decorated regiment in the history of the United States, with 21 Medal of Honor recipients. Rather than expecting and demanding outreach from the country which they loved, they--through their heroism--reached out to America. They became EVEN more "American" than their fellow citizens. The Japanese Americans of World War II, in spite of the outrageous internment of many of their families, sought even more to become assimilated and to prove their patriotism. Americans who adhere to the Muslim faith would do well to emulate their example.
As the 2012 Presidential race comes into sharper focus, it is becoming increasingly apparent that four individuals have a chance to become President of the United States in 2012--the incumbent Barack Obama, and three Republicans: Rick Perry, Mitt Romney and Sarah Palin. The Real Clear Politics average of the polls in which Palin is included (and excluding the FOX outlier that was taken by Daron Shaw, Perry's pollster) has Perry at 26%, Romney at 17% and Palin (as yet unannounced) at 12%. Prior to his announcement on August 13, Perry had 15% support, and a similar (if not greater) surge in Governor Palin's poll numbers can be expected when she formally announces her candidacy.
Of the three, which would be the most effective in rolling back the gains, both economic and cultural, that Islam has made in this country during the last decade? Let's start with Romney. No one seriously expects Romney, whose name is synonymous with "nebbish" in the Oxford English Dictionary, to push back in any meaningful way against Islamic and Sharia-friendly encroachments into the culture or to press hard for energy independence against a resistant federal bureaucracy or Congress.
Rick Perry projects a toughness and a swagger that would at first blush give one hope that he would be a vigorous defender of American cultural and economic interests. On oil exploration, he would undoubtedly be better than Obama, but so would Romney. However, neither Romney nor Perry has had occasion to take any innovative steps to spur energy development, Romney because his was not an energy producing state and Perry because Texas was already a well developed energy producing state when he arrived. But, on the cultural front, Perry's friendliness with Muslim Imam Aga Kahn, and his connections to the Hamas front group Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), raises serious questions concerning his commitment to Western culture as opposed to the Islamic interpretation of that culture. Far more disturbing than the Perry-Khan friendship, Khan has apparently had an impact on policy in Texas as well.
Perry and Khan have confected two cooperation agreements between the state of Texas and Ismaili institutions, the most significant of which is a program, now pervading every Texas public school, to proselytize and to desensitize, schoolchildren about Islam. Dubbed the "Muslim Histories and Culture Project", it really amounts to Islamic propaganda forced upon a captive audience...the impressionable youngsters attending Texas public schools.
Up until a few weeks ago, the Texas school curriculum could be viewed on the SAN ANTONIO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT's own website:

"a) High praise for Gov. Perry's collaboration with the Aga Khan, leaving no question about Perry's complicity and active support; and b) A thorough whitewashing of the nature and history of Islam that ignores Islam's bloody history while simultaneously portraying the Crusades as a bloody assault on Islamic soil by Christians."

The curriculum abstracts characterize the interaction of Islam and Christianity as follows:
"While Islam "spreads" and "extends," presumably in the same way that dew forms on flower petals, Crusaders "wrest political control of the Holy Land from Muslim rulers, damaging the positive relations that had previously existed." Nowhere is it mentioned that the Crusades were prompted by two crises: (1) the ruthless treatment of Christian pilgrims attempting to see Jerusalem, which was under Muslim control, and (2) Byzantine Emperor Alexius's plea for European knights to help him take back territory that had just been overrun by an invasion of Muslim Turks. "

Also lifted from the now scrubbed website was the following:
"A presentation of the Koran and Muhammad that can only be described as open proselytization for Islam in public schools."
That Rick Perry would endorse such revisionist history, which whitewashes Muslim excesses while indicting Christianity as the culprit, gives me not a bit of confidence that he would do anything to slow the rapid Islamicization of American culture, a process which has come to full bloom in Europe with disastrous consequences.
And Palin? On the economic front, she would undertake an energy development program similar to Reagan's arms buildup in the 1980s, in the following sense. Reagan understood that the Soviet economy was too sick and fragile to keep up with the United States and that, if he pressed it with such an arms race, the Soviet Union would collapse. Palin understands that the Islamic economies are even more fragile than the old Soviet Union, almost solely dependent, as they are, upon oil exports. Palin further understands that the United States has the largest fossil fuel deposits (including coal, oil and natural gas) in the world, equivalent to one trillion three hundred twenty four billion (1,324,000,000,000) barrels of oil (called Barrel of Oil Equivalents or BOE). Russia is second at one trillion two hundred forty six billion(1,246,000,000,000) BOE, with Saudi Arabia and China a distant third and fourth with roughly five hundred billion BOE each. The United States has more fossil fuel reserves than Saudi Arabia, China and Iraq combined. We have more than three times the BOE reserves of Iran.

Palin alone seems to understand that, with an all out effort to develop our own vast resources and our superior ingenuity and technology, we can crater the economies of those Middle Eastern regimes which wish us ill and, at the same time, send the U.S economy soaring into the stratosphere. Her successes in spurring energy development in Alaska with ACES and AGIA are but a microcosm of her designs for the American economy at large.
The second "whammy" of a Palin Presidency would be cultural. Palin never fails to push the notion of American exceptionalism, and it is clear that her election would portend a genuine renewal of pride in our rich history and culture. But, given the distinctly second class role to which women are relegated in fundamentalist Islamic societies, in which for example men refuse to shake hands with women and require that they be veiled in public, Sarah Palin's election would have a significant symbolic effect as well. When she meets with Arab heads of state, you can bet she won't be veiled. And I doubt if any of them will have the courage to refuse to shake her hand. The optics of such meetings will tell the world in unambiguous terms: The United States is back. On its own terms. Deal with it.
Charles, not exactly sure what your point is. BC isn’t arguing that Governor Palin hates Muslims. She, like most of us, embraces the vast majority of Mulsim-Americans, who like Japanese-Americans during WWII, “want the same things all of us want.” BC’s point is that embracing them as a Americans is far different that kowtowing to them—that is, forcing children in public schools not only to learn about Islam (why this is not an establishment clause issue, I’m not quite sure) but also to be ill-disposed toward Christianity. The distinction is self-evident.

Great piece Brices!
I have seen her compared, both favorably and not, with scores of famous and infamous figures, and it becomes more and more apparent that she is indeed unique in American history. The two presidents that come immediately to mind as a comparison of what she possesses, are Ronald Reagan or course, but also many of the steadfastness and stoicism of Abraham Lincoln. Both were vilified by their own parties, both had a realistic outlook and plan to implement what had to be done, and put those plans into action despite the most trying circumstances.
Lincoln paid the ultimate price immediately after the second of his two greatest accomplishments, the first of which was winning re-election as an independent, and the second which reunified the United States and, had he lived, would have been a peaceful and mutually respectable reunification rather than the bitter reconstruction that occurred.
Of course, we can throw in a few of the qualities of other presidents and other famous personalities....not the least of which is her "servants heart" which is more reminiscent of Mother Theresa than any other.
WE are so lucky to have her, and it is hoped that enough voters will recognize the uniqueness she possesses and will elevate her to the position we need her in, whatever that may be.

Actually, kids in our schools learn about all sorts of religions. And since as I’m sure you are aware, Islam is not just a religion, but a major political movement, with hundreds of years of history, it is covered in several school courses.
You may have missed the other comment about making our country “muslim-free”. I like that Sarah Palin rejects that notion.
I don’t know why you immediately jumped to the conclusion that me posting Palin’s words on the subject was somehow a counter-argument to the post, rather than additional information about Sarah Palin’s opinion about the Muslim people, which complements his piece, amplifies it, and counters the possible misunderstanding from his piece that Palin would never be friends with a Muslim.
After all, the article makes a big deal about Perry having a friendship with a particular muslim who, by all accounts, is very pro-American, very much for freedom of religion, and belongs to a moderate sect of Islam. (I know some will argue there are NO moderate sects of Islam — again that is why I posted the Palin comments, because clearly she DOES believe in moderate Islam, as I’m sure you will agree).
If you want to take my idea that I have posted here before and run with it go ahead.
It is not the handshake and the veil, it is what she will represent to the women in the Arab world.
She is more dangerous than our Military as Arab women see this women of inner strength and beauty not taking back seat to a man or Sharia law for that matter. They will look at these ugly men in thier lives and tell them all to go to hell. She is more of a threat to these impotent tyrants by her presence than her given 4 Stars the authority to use force...
Her effect on Women in the Arab world should not be underestimated either. The fact that they will see the male leaders showing respect to Sarah Palin will cause them to demand it for themselves. The dynamic will have a tendency to civilize the more barbaric aspects of Sharia law.

“Just a block or two away from 9/11.” Palin has been getting less subtle (if that’s possible) about connecting the proposed lower Manhattan building with 9/11; over the weekend she twittered out “Will Obama discourage 9/11 mosque while he celebrates Islamic holy mth?” As though the Cordoba House is being built as some sort of monument to celebrate 9/11, which, when you cut through some of the language, is exactly what she (and others) are really saying. You can watch the segment below.
In a related note, I began to wonder yesterday who exactly coined the term Ground Zero Mosque since I don’t recall hearing it much before Sarah Palin refudiated it. Turns out it made its first appearance on Fox News back in Dec. 2009, but didn’t pop up again until the New York Post picked it up this past May. Needless to say it didn’t go wide (i.e. into the GOP midterm meme) until Palin began twittering about it in July.

In this video Sarah Palin addresses the issues of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt. She seems to be one of the few politicians who actually understand the situation and the danger of appeasing groups like the Muslim Brotherhood.
The Muslim Brotherhood are top of the line Islamists and are as dangerous as they come. They cannot be dealt with, they oppose Western values, and their elevation to power in Egypt will bring them on an inevitable collision course with the West.
Many mainstream politicians seem to be embracing the idea that the Muslim Brotherhood will play a role in a future democratic Egypt. If that is the case then Egyptian democracy will be a very short-lived thing indeed. Democracy is a man-made system of government and the Muslim Brotherhood as an Islamist organisation opposes such systems, favouring the rule of sharia which is based on what Muslims see as divine law. Many politicians delude themselves to think that the Muslim Brotherhood are not a set of extremists and enemies of the West. They might be elected to the Government of Egypt by popular vote, just as Hamas were in Gaza, but that does not make a country democratic when their goal is to end democracy and replace it with sharia.
Why are so many politicians so stupid? Why are they sacrificing the stability of the world in order to appease Islam? If the Muslim Brotherhood comes to power in Egypt, then sooner or later the West will need to go to war with that country. It seems that the politicians do not understand the stakes involved when they implement policies based on wishful thinking rather than reality.

Sarah Palin suggested as she toured Jerusalem’s Western Wall that Israelis were too conciliatory toward Arab concerns.
“Why are you apologizing all the time?” Palin asked her guides after being told Jews were not allowed to pray openly at the Temple Mount and about Arab riots that followed Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s opening of an exit from its tunnels in 1996.
Israel enforces a controversial ban on prayer at the Temple Mount by non-Muslim visitors.
The Jerusalem Post, which quoted Palin asking the question, did not report what Western Wall Rabbi Shmuel Rabinovitz and conservative Israeli lawmaker Danny Danon said in response.
“She didn’t go into diplomatic issues, but I can clearly say from the questions she asked in relation to our conflict here with the Muslims in these holy sites that she knows that we are right and that the Muslims are just claiming things for provocation and they’re not right,” the Post quoted Danon as saying.

You are being very dishonest...again. Thread after thread has refuted what you say about the school curriculum, the aga khan, and perry’s relationship with him. This is my main worry about perry. I fear this after bush and obama. I really do.

What is the Muslim Histories and Culture Project (MHCP)?
The Muslim Histories and Cultures Project was born out of discussions between His Highness The Aga Khan and Texas Governor Rick Perry during the Summer 2002, when The Aga Khan was in Houston for the dedication of a new Ismaili Center. Both His Highness and Governor Perry agreed on the need for Texans to have a greater understanding of Islamic culture, and subsequently brought UT-Austin President Larry Faulkner into the discussions. Located in the state capital, Faulkner’s campus is well positioned to accomplish these goals. A series of meetings followed, with the project ultimately finding a home in UT-Austin’s College of Liberal Arts, under the guidance of Dean Richard W. Lariviere, in association with UT Liberal Arts (UT-LA), the college’s teacher preparation program.
In April 2004, the Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) and UT-Austin finalized a grant proposal that created the partnership that became known as the Muslim Histories and Cultures Program (MHC). Much has happened since the inception of the partnership. Creation and implementation of a model was of prime importance. MHC recruited and directly trained 80 teachers affecting approximately 15,150 students of World History and World Geography in ten key Texas districts during the two sessions conducted in 2005 and 2006. The purpose is two-fold 1) to fulfill Governor Rick Perry’s desire to better educate Texas teachers on Muslim topics and 2) to train teachers to use a cultural lens approach to understanding other cultures. Governor Perry was instrumental in getting this program off the ground.
The curriculum for this project was developed at Harvard University and modified at the University of Texas at Austin.
The responsibilities of the participants are:
~to attend the 10 seminars and complete the assigned readings.
~to attend the January, April, and June meetings in Austin.
~to create lessons concerning Islamic topics with a “cultural lens” approach tied to their grade level to share with other teachers.

PLANO – The Ismaili Muslim community announced Tuesday that it is building a $6.5 million worship and community center in Plano, where it has found a warm welcome.
Gov. Rick Perry flew in to lay the first ceremonial brick for the center’s foundation. It was a symbolic gesture since the site for the new center will be a few miles northeast of the Gleneagles Country Club in Plano, where the foundation ceremony was held.
The governor, who is friends with the Ismaili Muslims’ spiritual leader, His Highness Prince Karim Aga Khan, said he was honored to participate.
“Our culture is enriched and our society strengthened by a diverse mixture of traditions, heritages and faiths,” Mr. Perry said. “While differences may exist on the surface, there is a common hope for the future that dwells in the heart of every Texan.”
The Ismaili Jamatkhana and Center is a house of worship for Ismailis and a gathering place for youths. The proposed 30,000-square-foot Plano facility will be the first one in Collin County and one of **five** Jamatkhanas in North Texas.

The complex eschews the domes typically found atop Islamic mosques in favor of a more contemporary structure with gardens, a prayer hall, social space, and administrative and education wings.
Ismailis belong to the Shia tradition of Islam, which is a sect of the Shiite group. As such, they believe in one God and consider the Quran the holy text through which God’s words were revealed to the prophet Muhammad. They believe that Muhammad was the last of God’s messengers to mankind.

You know, when it comes to support for Israel, no one, and I mean NO ONE, beats Sarah Palin. It would stand to reason that she would hold in contempt not just Radical Islam, and Sharia Law, but Islamic incursion into the culture and outright insults like the Ground Zero Mosque.
