Hello everyone. I recently found this site and I enjoy it, though I find it a little difficult to navigate. I would describe myself as a former liberal who outgrew his college education. I look forward to lively discussion, and I would appreciate any tips on using the forum. Thanks.
Always, ALWAYS click on PJ Comix’s “DUmmie FUnnies” threads.
Don’t be a DannyH.
Infamous noob who got zotted into oblivion when he demand respect. LOL.
Welcome. I’ve been here many years, and still can’t find my way around. Good luck :D
The issue is not with the content of their prose but rather with understanding the rules of the site. You know, so they don't make rookie mistakes such as vanities or, God forbid ... double posting. ;-)
Send me $25.00 and I’ll send you our secret decoder ring and secret handshake. Do it!
Oh my Gawd!!!!!!
Huck’s advice is key! Some smell blood (or worse) with newbies.
Unless you’re really from England, don’t end your post with “Cheers!”...
Don’t put a black frame around your replies as if your statements are some ‘masterpiece’ of genius... There’s no need to sign every reply with your initials (”-SR”) as if we can’t already figure out who is posting a reply... Be sure to look for the word “satire” next to certain posts. That fools about 40% of us here.
Also, if you post a reply from your smart-phone, and see the loader bar moving slowwwwwly...just assume your reply was posted. Don’t do what I do, and hit the post button twice or more - ‘cuz you’ll double or triple post. Ha!
Welcome!!
Cheers! -LBI. (jk)
ROTFLMAO
It’s a rule that all n00bs must post a thread extolling the virtues of Abe Lincoln.
Welcome, your gonna love it here.
One very important tip:
Never ever post anything that even hints of negativity, about Sarah Palin, this would be a hugh and series mistake.
I very much would like to see Sarah elected President, remember that.
“Good luck. (Try to avoid the anti Mormons here, please.)”
....................
Beware of those who spend their time on FR pretending to be victims
on every thread. It’s not only false, it isn’t any different than
those who see racism behind everything that happens in life.
I’ve yet to meet an “anti-mormon”. I meet lots of Christians who
realize mormonism is a false religion, but they aren’t “anti-mormon”.
Most have mormon family and friends - or used to be mormons themselves.
This one was meant for you SpinR
Best advice: Read extensively and learn basic HTML before posting. There are HTML Sandbox threads that will teach a lot.
Have fun!
Welcome aboard
You'll get used to the ping system. It's a little odd at first, but you'll grow to like it. As far as general navigation, If you want to see the latest posts in all categories, go to Free Republic's home page by clicking Free Republic in the top left hand corner of pretty much any page. On the side bar to the right, and under topics, click Latest Posts. I have mine bookmarked to that page.
Hope you enjoy your stay here.
Before posting an article, make sure it's not been posted already. People get kind of annoyed with re-posts. Make sure you check copyright before posting articles and post excerpts as necessary. The copyright list is linked at the top of the forum.
HTML tags work for the most part in your posts. Use them for formatting to make things easier to read.
Welcome to the neighborhood. Have fun.
When you decide to take the chance of posting a thread with actual content, be sure you read the copyright legal notice toward the bottom of the home page. Follow the link to the sources you cannot link to. We have people who have been here for years and they get upset when they get their hand slapped for posting from a disallowed source.
Also be prepared to be harassed by Nanny FReepers if you post blog-derived content.
