I thought the fight would be enhanced by Bachmann and Palin in it--then came Rollins the dog.

I called Steve King's office and gave them the long version, he's always in photos with her--

--now what--how can you keep on fighting with that?

At that point Bachmann revealed what she's all about.

All the lightweights think it's a dash.

It's a long run.

And where are you going.

Maybe if God smiles, to do the people's work, and then back to your family.

And in the quiet of the evening you hear how you have done.

You still missed the point. Rick Perry is only doing well, because the other candidates are bad. That still doesn’t make him a good candidate. And he’s still a big government type, who doesn’t even know what conservatism is.

Sure big government Perry believes in:

Almighty God
the right to life
the right to keep and bear arms
the exceptionalism of America
the American military
the natural, normal American family
the institution of marriage
the power of states over the federal government
the budgets he balanced in Texas for years
the ability of a high tech + troops to control the border
the need for enforcing our already existing laws to control immigration
the zero income tax system of Texas over that of the US
the locally run education system of Texas over big government
the execution of violent criminals rather than their coddling

All that, of course, makes him a “big government” guy just like Obama.

TARP + bailouts as far as the eye can see. Yes, he’s slightly better than Obama. That shouldn’t be anything to brag about.

Rick Perry is nothing like Obama, and the proof of that is that OBAMA knows that.

Here's Sarah Palin on TARP:

Now, as for the economic bailout provisions and the measures that have already been taken, it is a time of crisis and government did have to step in playing an appropriate role to shore up the housing market to make sure that we're thawing out some of the potentially frozen credit lines and credit markets, government did have to step in there....what McCain has talked about with shoring up the home mortgage market also to make sure that we, we're gonna have a level playing field here. He's not asking for an additional hundreds of billions of dollars, he's saying, OK, with the $700 billion that his colleagues and he there in Congress have already approved, let's make sure that the priority is, we're gonna help the homeowners who had been kinda sucked into the wrong mortgage, and that was via predatory lenders taking advantage unfortunately and exploiting too many Americans" http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/10/21/palin.sitroom.transcript/index.html

FWIW Sarah Palin was in favor of the Tarp bailout. Does that make her a big government guy?

Your defense of Perry proves my point. You can’t even say anything good about Perry, your defense involves saying everyone else is as bad or worse. Like I said, that’s nothing to brag about.

Yes, if Palin supported TARP, that makes her a big government gal. Sorry. TARP was evil. Even if she only did it, because of obligations of being on McCain’s ticket, she still shouldn’t have done it. Anyone who supported TARP should claim they are in favor of lower taxes, free markets, or capitalism. It’s a lie.

Winning the first three primaries is no guarantee of being the nominee.

Did you not read my post 103, the post you responded to? I talked about Perry's credentials and YOU brought up TARP.

Rather than saying something positive, YOU attacked him with TARP.

So, I take by your reaction that you'd forgotten that Palin supported Tarp.

Anyone who supported TARP should [not..sic] claim they are in favor of lower taxes, free markets, or capitalism. It’s a lie.

No it isn't a lie. It could have been a mistake. That moved so fast and hit so fast right in the middle of a campaign that anyone's position at that time could well have been a mistake.

Of course you can make a mistake and still be in favor of lower taxes, free markets, and capitalism. Even Reagan raised SS/Medicare taxes, gas tax, and corporate tax. They were targeted for a specific purposes, but he did do it.

Does that make him an advocate of big government?

It speaks to the kind of person that Ed Rollins is that he would dump on her both in terms of compensatory support as well as badmouthing her chances in public on the same day. I’m not a Bachmann supporter but Rollins is a low-life and would probably benefit from a punch in the jaw.

I prefer Bachmann over Perry as my second choice behind Palin.

That said, Bachmann is getting what she deserves from the backstabber and the establishment connected Rollins.

Bachmann should have gone rogue instead of establishment.

You can’t prove any of those things. And “exceptionalism of America,” sounds like McCain. It sounds nice, but it really translates to: “This person isn’t conservative, and we’ll just toss out this phrase to cover it.”

I remember shapeshifters from Star Wars, I think. Definitely from Frank Herbert’s son’s renewal of the Dune novels.

Shapeshifters - that is a good name for Republican candidates.
