Ed Rollins, campaign manager for Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann Presidential run announced that he is stepping back into an advisory role, citing health concerns, as word of his deputy manager, David Polyansky, is leaving the campaign as well. Rollins was on Anderson Cooper's AC360 show on CNN and admitted that the entrance of Rick Perry has "slowed our money down" into the Bachmann campaign and took momentum out of her campaign
He also stated that it's legitimately a Romney/Perry race with them being the leaders in the poll and leaders in money and that Michelle Bachmann is the third person in the race and that she should think of it as a marathon and a long time before voters decide who get's the nomination. Rollins also noted that Bachamnn was returning this fall back into Congress

I never cared for Rollins, but can we trust CNN for the ENTIRE story?
“September 5, 2011 11:09 P.M. By Robert Costa
Columbia, S.C. Sources close to Rep. Michele Bachmann tell National Review Online that the Minnesota Republican has known for days that Ed Rollins, her campaign manager, would be stepping down from that post. Rollins reportedly spoke with Bachmann last Thursday and discussed his growing concerns about his health. His increased workload, he told Bachmann, following her Ames straw-poll win, worried his family.”

I’m good with Perry but I really wish Sarah would quit playing games and jump in........now. She is already trying to lose the first three primaries. If Perry crashes we have Romney, oh hell no.
True, but having Ed Rollins heading the campaign certainly didn't help. Ed's prime (if he ever had one) was over 20 years ago. You don't hire someone with a 1980s skill set to manage a 2012 campaign. And, EVERYONE knows Rollins is a loose cannon. Bachmann did well at the start because she was the "anyone but Palin" of the spring and early summer. Even the RINOs at Hot Air were signing Michele's praises.
CNN Anderson Cooper is interviewing Rollins...watch the video, I may be wrong but he is talking ‘almost’ like Bachmann campaign is in the past tense plus when he admitted that they have money issues (no manger usually admits that publicly) smells like we are nearing the end....maybe within a month or so if things don’t improve for MB
Ed Rollin has no loyalty and totally unprofessional. He’s obsessed with media spotlight and a leaker. He just backstabbed his boss
Palin got more coverage this weekend than all the announced candidates combined and all it cost her was a few grand.
My dial-up doesn’t like videos, but I don’t trust Rollins.
He has bad-mouthed Palin, even though Bachmann said the media would like her, and Palin, to get into a cat fight, but she won’t do that, and Bachmann said Palin is nice (which she is).
Now Rollins tries to destroy Bachmann’s campaign, when Bachmann is one of the top three candidates? Bachmann is doing better than McCain did, at this point in time, and McCain ended up being the nominee.
It’s too early for any of them to give up, unless maybe if they are at the very bottom in the polls.
“Despite all the nonsense about natural born
It may be “nonsense” but you have some constitutionalists who beg to differ. Until it’s cleared up the “nonsense” is also a controversy.
We don’t want another Obama in 2020.”
Chief Justice Roberts swore Obama in, and it was well-known Obama’s father was not a citizen, when he did.
Therefore, unless you think your “constitutionalists” know more lawyerin’ than him...
Controversy over.
Since when do campaign officials get to decide which candidates are “legitimate”, as opposed to that decision being made by the primary election voters.
Rollins should have retired decades ago.
Romney and Perry aren’t close to being presidential material. For that matter Obama, Bush, Clinton, and the other Bush aren’t presidential material. Bachmann shouldn’t have hired Rollins, because he’s incompetent, but even more so, because he has an absolute hatred for conservatives.
Perry shouldn’t get too cocky. If he’s it, it’s only because his competitors are even worse. He’s just a shade more fiscally conservative than Romney and Obama. That’s not something to brag about. He’s still a totally pro-Big Government, TARP and bail-out loving idiot.
“Its Perry. Hes got it. Everyone knows it. Even Romney. Its over.-E.U.
From the Conventional Wisdom Wayback Machine, circa 2008: It’s Giuliani. He’s got it. Everyone knows it. Even Romney. It’s Over.”-A.H.
I agree w/ you that almost anything can still happen. Especially if Perry implodes in the debates unexpectedly, or Palin enters the race and perhaps combines her’s and Bachmann’s support.
But to compare Perry and Giuliani...a pro-life TX governor and a pro-choice NYC mayor...unless you were stretching to make a point, you’ve got a lot to learn about the Republican base...
Perry’s position is infinitely stronger than Rudy’s was (or is).
PS: Some others compared him to F. Thompson. Palin is actually the one who would be the one in the Thompson slot.
Actually, according to all the polls at RealClearPolitics, Gov. Palin is in third place, while Reps Bachmann and Paul are pretty much tied for fourth:
LoL and oh boy am I so sorry Palin hasn’t announced yet.
Its strange I used to be so antsy for her to declare (and I mean starting from the day she resigned in Alaska LoL) now I am patient. Palin can take her sweet, sweet tiiiiime.
polls...especially this early...are for strippers and cross country skiers.
The only polls that matter are the ones voters go to punch their cards on election day(s).
Okay, then why are Governors Romney and Perry considered the front-runners? Many more people show up at Palin events (of any kind) than they do at Perry, Romney, Bachmann, Huntsman or any other GOP candidates. That’s been true since 2008!!
You may see Perry having warts, but the average voter and the general voting public could care less about most of the “great concerns” of the “pure Conservative” label. You are basing every thing on a very small percentage of the overall electorate and mistakenly believing their position is universal.
Not comparing Perry to Giuliani; just noting the historic perils of making predictions based on conventional thinking so early in the campaign season. And declaring Perry, a largely unknown and unvetted candidate, a lock at this early stage is a prediction born of conventional thinking.
Perry isn’t getting cocky. He didn’t say anything. That was some guy named Extreme Unction who could be right and could be wrong. There’s a long way to go.
If Bachmann’s issue is funding, then that’s exactly what one would expect from a member of the House instead of a governor or senator. Bachmann started with a very low financial support base, and that is now hurting her.
Any candidate in this election who doesn’t find a big source of money is soon going to fold. It takes an enormous amount of cash, given the way we run campaigns in this huge country. You can’t spread a nationwide message from Alaska to Florida and Hawaii to Maine WITHOUT a huge amount of money....and especially if the media is not on your side.
You do that with either a huge number of small donors or a small number of well-heeled donors or a combination of both.
And each of those donors expects SOMETHING out of you. That’s the old fashioned “spoils” system.
oh i was just addressing the fact that i don’t care whether palin places first or last...all that matters is that she win come caucus and primary time and i am confident she will.
