Ace has been a bit wordy lately, but near the end he does touch on this gem.

David Letterman used to make a point of wasting "network time" on dumb stuff. The in-joke was "Can you believe we are doing a network broadcast and yet we're just showing videos of squirrels?" I found that funny, for a time. Until I realized he wasn't just wasting the network's time with the squirrel videos; he was wasting my time, too. I stopped considering myself one of the people "inside the joke," laughing at NBC, and started considering myself one of the people being punked with time-wasting exercises.

At some point, it really does make you wonder whose time is being wasted, doesn't it?

People are people, and politicians are politicians. One you start putting them on different scales or up on pedestals, it's easy to lose perspective and think them angels instead. They're not, though. Just individual humans like the rest of us, doing things, saying things, and fighting for things in their own way. For as deep as Palin must know her support runs, and for as narrow as the polls suggest it is, she's working at a curious angle. If she doesn't make herself clear soon, it could result in a lot of broken hearts.

Does Sarah often like to say “full-throated”?

ROFL. and you all still don’t understand why Palin is the only one that can beat Obama. what the others have to spend millions for Palin gets for free. If Perry would have gave this speech noone would know or care. Perry would have had to pass out 5 hour energy drinks just to keep people awake.

sounds like you all have sour grapes....

That woman is doing it again....boohoo

Thanks for the thread, smoothsailing!

I see how excited the Palin supporters are here now, truly believing Sarah Palin is in the race, just not declared yet, so I am hesitant to share this, but I’ll try.

I listened to Sarah Palin’s speech today, but my reaction during her speech must have been quite different than what her supporters were having.

I heard her draw out the five points she felt we needed in a plan to get our country on the right track.

Those five points were:

1. Stop expanding the federal government and devolve powers back local and state government.

2. Repeal ObamaCare.

3. No more runaway debt.

4. Robust and responsible domestic energy production.

5. Eliminate all corporate income tax and corporate welfare — no more loopholes and bailouts.

I have to admit that when I heard her naming each one of those points, I began to think more and more that she was outlining all Rick Perry’s strongest points — that she was going to endorse Rick Perry today during that speech!

I was not EXPECTING her to use today’s speech to endorse Rick Perry - that had not entered my mind at all - that is until she started outlining those points which definitely describe the best of Rick Perry.

As it turned out, she neither endorsed Rick Perry nor did she enter the presidential race.

I know all Palin supporters are going to feel today’s speech was a platform for a Sarah Palin candidacy, but am I alone in seeing how these same five points line up exactly with Rick Perry?

Palin has no chance to beat Obama. The sooner you realize this the better. Her unfavorables are in the dumpster and she’s done absolutely nothing in the past year to show she can lift them out.

NO CHANCE IN HELL. The only thing she is doing is giving Obama and his socialist pals another 4 years to wreck this country. Sarah Palin needs to wake up and get her head out of the clouds.

She’s weak and feeble in the face of a media onslaught. This she has proven time and time again since 2008.

[The speech was bigtime overrated. If it were given by any other candidate, it wouldn’t have registered more than a blip on the radar.]

And I thought it was great. Maybe we listened to different speeches.

Keep dreaming your little dream.

Palin just had the largest GOp POTUS campaign event of the season for a single candidate. Perry would have had to pay a lot for that many people to show up. Palin pulled it off by buying a freaking airplane ticket.

Perry stands no chance of winning the nomination the sooner you delusional people get this the quicker we can all get behind the real reformer, Palin, in the race and get Obama out of office and repeal obamacare.

Palin has 0% chance to win a general election. Congratulation on giving Obama 4 more years.

Announcing because they want her to only allows her competitors a head start on developing their “beat Palin” strategy. She has said that it will be sometime before the end of September. For those of us who have been waiting since 2009, a few more weeks won’t hurt us. She is a Sun-Tzu warrior and will attack when the enemy is weakest and unsuspecting.

Support for all of these other candidates is very soft and Gov. Palin could, as Huckabee said, “run away with it” when she jumps in. He may well be right.

ROFLMAO. you don't understand anything do you.

Obama can't even poll over 50% against Palin. her numbers in polls are a function of other gop voters wanting a different candidate. You think they will vote for Obama instead of Palin? ROFLMAO.

Palin stands about a 90% of being the next President of the USA. The winner of the primary becomes President. If elmer Fudd won the primary he would be president. sadly for you Palin stands a very good chance of winning the primary. The only 100% fully vetted candidate in the race. Agaisnt a flipflopper and a crony capitalist. Yeah she stands no chance. You are delusional.

First of all, if Sarah runs it won't be as an Independent. That is a ridiculous straw man argument.

Secondly, who said Palin’s speech was going to be the next Gettysburg Address? Do you live in Strawmanville, or Obamaville like the rest of us?

Unlike the “Candidates” we have now, Governor Palin took it to Obama, the Democrats, the RINO’s and the Leftist Media. Did she say everything I would have hoped she should have said, not quite, but she is speaking up for the American people, whether they realize it or not.
