Toward the beginning of his radio show today, Glenn Beck responded to an effort this past Friday by the Washington Post to smear him and his Mormon faith by means of a skewed article with an even more misleading headline (Mormon Glenn Beck: Hurricane Irene and East Coast earthquake a blessing from God,)
As discussed in an earlier article in the Philadelphia Jewish Culture Examiner space, the Post was successful if its goal was to spread the impression that Beck really believed that last weeks natural East Coast hurricane and earthquake were themselves a blessing. This is of course as opposed to what Beck actually pretty obviously -- to anyone who listened to his words without a predominating agenda -- meant, which was that there was a blessing in the need for preparedness these could-have-been-much-more-deadly disasters highlighted.
Near the very beginning of his discussion on this topic, Beck (who broadcasts on his own GBTV network and who can also be heard in the New York City area on 800 WLAD-AM) called out the Washington Posts headline, saying: So they smear immediately. Its like saying 'Jew George Hilzig says'."
Shortly thereafter, Beck, who was in Israel during much of the previous two weeks for his Restoring Courage solidarity event, said, Here I am, not playing into the fear, not telling you 'hey, freak out.' What Im saying to you is: this is a good thing because its not going to kill a lot of people, and maybe a few people will remember hey, maybe I should be a help to others..."

That headline is disgusting. They should be ashamed.
That would require having a sense of shame.
He shouldn’t even bother responding.
I read what he said and he’s absolutely right. A mild hurricane is a blessing if it warns people to prepare for worse.
Beck is a mormon, and he said the hurricane was a blessing.

All shallow valley girl style insulting crap.
And you are a troll.
Truth means so little to media liberals.
Leftists are filth.
In this one they edit a clip of Michelle Bachmann to make her appear racist.

Did you bother to read the article or did you just roll in here to slam a Mormon. I am not the biggest fan of Beck, but he was right on the day he said this. I guess you would rather have the citizenry relying on the Gov't to make it through hardships.
I heard Beck on the radio when he said this. I think I’m crazy because I understand exactly what he was saying. ??? do these people have to twist anyone who speaks out. I know one truth, Glenn Beck has never waivered. I could care less if he is a Mormon, I judge by his character. I’ve listened to him since 1999 and get him. Prepare yourselves as I have, which means I didn’t have to get in line for water or groceries when Irene was heading towards us.
Thanks Danny.
What did I say that was incorrect?
Beck is a mormon and he did say the hurricane is a blessing.
I’m not a mormon, and I agree with Beck.
What’s yer point?
Not this one, but I will. I did read him on his own web page.
However, the fact remains Beck is a mormon and to say so is not bashing mormons, it is just stating the truth.
To say that Beck said the hurricane is a blessing is not incorrect either.
The point? The point is that Beck is a mormon and he said the hurricane is a blessing.
Why are you telling us that Beck is a mormon?
Why do you assume we don’t already know this, and if we didn’t already know it, why do I or anyone else need you to point this out to us?
A few years back I woke up at 4 AM with a tree in my bedroom. It stopped about 6 inches from my face.
It sucked but I saw it as a blessing because it lit a fire under my butt and got me on the ball about removing other dangerous trees. I had 6 of them taken out a few weeks later and sure enough, we had a bad ice storm immediately following that.
God flicked me in the forehead.
This is what he said:
“How many warnings do you think youre going to get, and how many warnings do you deserve? This hurricane that is coming thorough the East Coast, for anyone whos in the East Coast and has been listening to me say Food storage! Be prepared! Be somebody that can help others, youve heard me say this for years. People have made fun of me. Thats fine, I dont care. Ive been telling you, Dont be in a panic situation. If youve waited, this hurricane is a blessing. It is a blessing. It is God reminding you as was the earthquake last week its God reminding you youre not in control. Things can happen. Be prepared and be someone who can help others so when disaster strikes, God forbid, youre not panicking.
What is your motivation for singling out a single phrase from an entire paragraph as “what he said”, because he clearly said quite a bit more than what you said he said?
No, see, that’s a “statement”, not a “point”. Look it up.
Can’t wait to hear the “point” of your “statement”.
