Toward the beginning of his radio show today, Glenn Beck responded to an effort this past Friday by the Washington Post to smear him and his Mormon faith by means of a skewed article with an even more misleading headline (“Mormon Glenn Beck: Hurricane Irene and East Coast earthquake a ‘blessing’ from God,”)
As discussed in an earlier article in the Philadelphia Jewish Culture Examiner space, the Post was successful if its goal was to spread the impression that Beck really believed that last week’s natural East Coast hurricane and earthquake were themselves a blessing. This is of course as opposed to what Beck actually pretty obviously -- to anyone who listened to his words without a predominating agenda -- meant, which was that there was a blessing in the need for preparedness these could-have-been-much-more-deadly disasters highlighted.
Near the very beginning of his discussion on this topic, Beck (who broadcasts on his own GBTV network and who can also be heard in the New York City area on 800 WLAD-AM) called out the Washington Post’s headline, saying: “So they smear immediately. It’s like saying 'Jew George Hilzig says'."
Shortly thereafter, Beck, who was in Israel during much of the previous two weeks for his “Restoring Courage” solidarity event, said, “Here I am, not playing into the fear, not telling you 'hey, freak out.' What I’m saying to you is: this is a good thing because it’s not going to kill a lot of people, and maybe a few people will remember “hey, maybe I should be a help to others..."

That’s an interesting assessment you have of mormonism, and perhaps it’s true, but until they do something to me or attempt to force their way of life on me, I don’t have anything against them, and I’m not gonna have anything against them.

IIRC, you are a Mormon. Not one freeper has ever attacked you personally, that I’m aware of. I would be jumping their case if so. But I still believe mormonism to be based upon a fraudulent and very devious foundation which is antithetical to Christianity,the ‘good works’ of Mormons notwithstanding.
Not donating is the consequence I have chosen to enact as a result of such disrespect.

No, I’m not a mormon, and much of this thread contains personal attacks towards me, but whatever.
I can see that a number of people around here think mormonism is evil. Seems to me like religions are some sort of exclusive clubs or groups in which members of X religion are suspicious and hostile to Y religion.
As I have stated previously, we can believe whatever we want, we’ll get the answers when we die, and until such time, I’m not going to toss stones at people who have never tossed stones at me.

I’m not ‘religious’, Mormonism cured me of that. My faith in is Christ alone. You have a choice, I’m not forcing you to believe in anything, but failure to accept Christ and the truth of the Bible will lead you to Hell. And yes, Christ taught me that.
