Obama Administration Pressuring New York Atty General To Drop Mortgage Fraud Investigations
Outside The Beltway ^ | August 24, 2011 | Doug Mataconis

The Attorney General of New York has been on the receiving end of what seems like an unusual amount of pressure from Obama Administration officials to accept a settlement with mortgage lender rather than pursue the criminal fraud investigation that he opened several months ago:

Eric T. Schneiderman, the attorney general of New York, has come under increasing pressure from the Obama administration to drop his opposition to a wide-ranging state settlement with banks over dubious foreclosure practices, according to people briefed on discussions about the deal.

In recent weeks, Shaun Donovan, the secretary of Housing and Urban Development, and high-level Justice Department officials have been waging an intensifying campaign to try to persuade the attorney general to support the settlement, said the people briefed on the talks.

Mr. Schneiderman and top prosecutors in some other states have objected to the proposed settlement with major banks, saying it would restrict their ability to investigate and prosecute wrongdoing in a variety of areas, including the bundling of loans in mortgage securities.

But Mr. Donovan and others in the administration have been contacting not only Mr. Schneiderman but his allies, including consumer groups and advocates for borrowers, seeking help to secure the attorney general’s participation in the deal, these people said.....

One more scandal that's 20X bigger than Watergate and what do you think the media will do?

That bastard Shaun Donovan is also behind HUD’s continuing rejection of Westchester County’s ‘desegregation’ ruling that is forcing towns within the county to have to build low-income housing if they are deemed by the last census to be ‘too white’. The deal was signed by the former county executive who took federal funds in exchange for building the housing (which never got built.) So now, HUD wants to force the county to sue towns that refuse to violate their own zoning laws in order to comply.

Remember that Andrew Cuomo ran HUD and gave us what we have today.

I don’t know what the media will do, but there are plenty right here on FR who will cover for both ‘Bammy’ and the ‘Banksters’ by blaming the ‘dead beats’ for all the fraud.

They interfere with investigations into the murders of policemen -- when it is believed that one of them did it -- so no amount of argument will get the Obama/Holder Department of Just Us and others in the Administration to stop the interference.

Justice Department: 'Zip it' on Ayers probe

"The Obama Justice Department instructed San Francisco police officials not to comment after top law enforcement officers there signed a letter accusing Weathermen radical Bill Ayers and his wife, Bernardine Dohrn, of being directly behind the 1970 bombing of San Francisco's police station that killed one sergeant and wounded nine others."

Exactly. The dirty hands of Cuomo tied to the housing scandal and his payback was governorship.

Maybe Mr. Schneiderman should share what he knows and expand his investigation before he gets sick.

***Shaun Donovan, the secretary of Housing and Urban Development.***

The Adminstration covets all those foreclosed homes as HUD inventory. They will soon have a Department of Upwardly Mobile Rentals. DUMR.

Certain applicants (DEM voters) will be moved to the front of the line.

In other words if you're a black lesbian Jihadist with six illegitimate kids who entered the country illegally they'll give you the most expensive house they've got and pay you to live there.

"When Palin gets in the WH there will be no more ZIP IT!"

She is the ONLY one who I think would try to do that, and even then the 'Establishment' opposition might prove too powerful. She wouldn't be the first 'outsider' to be thwarted by the Foggy Bottom Big Boys. (Hello George!)

They are already doing that in the UK.

single mother-of-six is getting more than £80,000 a year from the taxpayer to live in a £2million mansion in an exclusive London suburb.
Essma Marjam, 34, is given almost £7,000 a month in housing benefits to pay the rent on the five-bedroom villa just yards from Sir Paul McCartney’s house and Lord’s cricket ground.
She also receives an estimated £15,000 a year in other payouts, such as child benefit, to help look after her children, aged from five months to 14.
