During the 2008 presidential election season, many Americans were captivated by then-candidate Barack Obama’s promises of hope and change. And some would argue that much of the media were taken in by the promises too. Nearly three years into the Obama presidency, is it fair to say the media were duped? On Sunday’s broadcast of CNN’s “Reliable Sources,” host Howard Kurtz asked New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman just that question. According to Friedman, the jury is still out.

The fact that someone of Friedman's status as a "golden boy" among those who consider themselves the elite is even hinting at it means that they already know the answer.

They are loath to admit they were on the Kool-Aid truck, but they know they were.

They weren't just on the Kool-Aid truck …

They were driving it.

Aw, they shouldn’t blame themselves for doing something poorly if they didn’t even do it.

NYT’s Friedman:‘Way too soon to tell’if media blew it vetting Obama the candidate.

Yes, just as it's way too soon to determine whether my recent trip to Japan was a success. A perfect comparison to the media's vetting of Obama since I've never been to Japan.

If Friedman hasn’t figured out that the people elected Obama because he was black and because he said “hope and change” and knew nothing at all about him, he will never admit it.

Half way through his next term he’ll be vetted-by Al Jazeera.

Not necessarily. Even people like Biden can use dictionaries.

Friedman needs to have at least one of his many Pulitzer prizes revoked.

They never vetted Obama in the first place. If they had followed up on him he’d still be walking the streets of Chicago selling ACORN buttons.

I never noticed any vetting, neither before nor after the election. Not even now. Not in the NYT. Nor anywhere else in the MSM. Omullah gets a free pass to bring marxism to America. The pan-leninism to the world starts with O:

70 members in Congress are members of Democratic Socialists of America. http://www.scribd.com/doc/35733956/DSA-Members-American-Socialist-Voter-Democratic-Socialists-of-America-10-1-09

I think if — look, what have I been calling for, you know, the president to have — I think there is, we just so desperately needed a grand bargain that involves restructuring of debt, raising of taxes, cutting of spending and investing in the sources of our strengths as a country from everything from infrastructure to government-funded research to education. It’s so clear that’s what we need. My personal frustration with Obama has been that while he certainly tried that grand bargain for a little bit, it just kind of went away.

Is this an example of New York elite writing? What the H did he say?

Video doesn't work for me. Why do they stick 16 javascript links on the page?

Friedman thinks we should increase taxes, cut spending, and increase spending.

If there was a real jury they would be 100% for impeachment!

Unfortunately the only jury available has been hand picked by the slimy go along to get along types in DC!

America, I love you with all my heart and will fight for you to my last breath, but it really looks to me that I won’t get a chance because others have stolen our great nation without firing a single shot.

I’m so ashamed of my fellow countryman for laying back and watching this happen!

Some day, those who gave away what was so valiantly fought for for more than 200 years, will pay a horrible price to those who lost so much.

Sooner rather than later is my hope!

Believe or not, Friedman won a Pulitzer prize three times with that type of nonsensical writing/garbage?

Let me guess. The appropriate time would be after the next election, right Friedman?

I finally got the video to work. Friedman's grammer is better than the transcript, but it's still insane.
