We choose a vacation in upstate New York in an attempt to escape the oppressive Philadelphia heat, at least for a week. It is a seven-hour drive, and traffic isn't bad, despite it being a Saturday in August. Weird. New York State is one of the most beautiful places on earth. The mountains and flora are simply majestic.
But I digress.
Upon arrival at our destination on Lake Champlain, we are thrilled with our simple, but well-placed accommodations. The view of the lake and the mountains can be seen from every window. Our front porch is covered, is right on the lake and has two comfortable rockers. We both know that this is where we will be spending most of the week, on those two rockers.
We can see Russia from our front porch. Okay its Vermont. Close enough.
We arrive a bit early to check in so we drive around a bit looking for a place to dine out lakeside. Our trip into town is revealing.
As is the case in many Pennsylvania towns, once-filled shopping centers here in New York State are largely empty. Many of the big anchor food stores are closed. Most of the independent stores are gone, and it is mostly the drug stores and liquor stores remain ...

No thanks!
That crap blog site has more spam and malware than the spam and malware mall.
No sane person would visit Examiner.
I'm surprised it doesn't explode itself, so nasty a blogsite it is.
You should stay away from there. Examiner is like cyber-AIDS.
Well, thank you, Sir!
You are so kind.
Humble, could you be thinking of the Philadelphia Examiner rather than the Phila. Jewish Examiner?

I’m the auther darlin’ and I am friends with the site’s owner.
I don’t know which site you are thinking of, but it can’t possibly be this one.
We'll assume you meant "author".
What seems to have prevented you posting the material here?
Was it perhaps a desire to USE Free Republic to get some blog hits on your account?
I've taken the liberty of pinging someone who can tell really well
what kind of garbage that site attaches to the computers of the innocent.
You can find it on my website, see the tag line.
Yes I made a typo. Cut off my hands!
I often do post things here, but I really like it when someone else thinks what I’ve written is worthwhile and posts it rather than just me. Plus I don’t give a damn how many hits I get on my website, I’ve never tried to look.
What a nasty thing to say to a FRiend from the Levin site! Get up on the wrong side of the bong didja?
You seem to have quite a smear campaign against examiner.com . (I imagine not against me personally or against “Philadelphia Jewish Culture.”)
Nevertheless, I’m always an inquiring mind, and this is relevant to me, so I’m wondering if you could provide some more specifics about the spyware and other nefarious aspects of Examiner.com . Details of viruses, etc.? I’ve been on that site quite a bit in recent months and I haven’t had any issues, despite a level of protection that’s probably merely normal rather than particularly guarded.
Beyond that, you made your point with something I posted yesterday, and, unless you have some real specifics about the website that has worked well for me, I don’t need you to serve as an ongoing warning label.
Thanks.
Either you are confused or someone there is spoofing me.
I dislike Levin, I find him rude and un-listenable.
Again (as I mentioned before), I’ve been a member of Free Republic since Clinton was President. (I just recently changed my screen name.)
And, yes, for a variety of reasons, including a commitment to spreading the conservative message as well as my own ego, I like to post worthwhile things I’ve written/edited.
You’ve made your point, and I now formally request that you no longer post comments to anything I post. Thanks.
What is it that you do for a living? Spend your days doing? Any other biographical details that might make anyone take your general opinions seriously? On this end, three-time “Jeopardy” winner and member of the Bar in three states as well as four Federal courts. Oh, and people tend to love what I write.
Thanks.
Here’s a bit more about examiner.com and its (conservative) owner, Philip Anschutz: http://www.examiner.com/conservative-in-national/phillip-anschutz-the-examiner-and-the-conservative-movement
Oh, its all coming back to me now.....
Your not who I thought you were at all from the Levin site, you are correct on that.
You are the same thrilling personality that picked on the me, the MS disabled persons typing a couple years ago without mercy. I see you haven’t learned anything.
Yes, I’d say step away from the bong and lay off the Colt 45 Malt Liqour as well.
Uhhh... Adam Taxin Since Aug 14, 2011 .. not so much.
I like to post worthwhile things Ive written/edited.
Cool. Why not actually post them instead of Examiner excerpts?
I now formally request that you no longer post comments to anything I post.
We shall see. Are you going to actually post the stuff or try to send FReepers to a diseased blog site?
What is it that you do for a living?
This isn't a dating site. Are you really interested?
On this end, three-time Jeopardy winner and member of the Bar in three states as well as four Federal courts.
I'm sure they think highly of you in the washroom, too.
I just don't see how that is in any way relevant.
Oh, and people tend to love what I write.
I see that you have been "re-Tweeted" three times by Justin Bieber.
Congratulations.
Thanks.
You're welcome.
Putz,
Re. “Ive been a member of Free Republic since Clinton was President”/”Uhhh... Adam Taxin Since Aug 14, 2011” ... yeah, well, I used a different screen name. I formerly used the name of a childhood hero, but that — which was getting lame away — became impossible as I actually got to know that individual a bit. As the public aspects of my publishing/media work have become more successful, yeah, it’s time to use some of my precious (and, yes, it is ... I have better things to do than repeat unsubstantiated slander ad nauseum). JimRob knows who I am.
Your response to the simple question of what you do for a living is telling enough.
I’m starting to think you may have a problem with the word that comes between “Philadelphia” and “Culture” in my title. Get over it. (And I can’t stand plenty of my people on the other side of the political aisle, for what that’s worth.)
Again, anyone can provide unsupported slander ... I asked for details of the spyware problem you mentioned.
See, I could unsubstantiated slander about, say, psychoanatomicosexual issues surrounding “HumbleGunner” and then avoid the question when someone asked for evidence. But I’m not going to.
Any more unsubstantiated commentary from you, and this member since the Clinton Administration will have to take the appropriate action.
Got Zotted, huh? Who were you before?
I formerly used the name of a childhood hero
Michael Jackson?
As the public aspects of my publishing/media work have become more successful
Yuck! Porn is NOT COOL.
JimRob knows who I am.
He also knows who Charlie Sheen and Charlie Manson are. Your point?
Any more unsubstantiated commentary from you, and this member since the Clinton Administration will have to take the appropriate action.
Oh no! You mean you'll use the rough side of the loofah on me?
"The Toecutter - he knows who I am. I am the Nightrider! I am the chosen one. The mighty hand of vengeance, sent down to strike the unroadworthy!"
It’s a horrible website. It’s the best source for those who want pop-ups, spyware and viruses.
I always regret it after I’ve clicked on examiner.com links.
We should support bloggers, even if it destroys our computers!
And aren't you supposed to stay offa my threads?
