Many forget that there was a time when both the GOP and the Democrats were very different from what they are not. There are even some sitting Democrats who, though liberal, I totally forgive in light of their past service to their country.

The Dixiecrat tradition took a long time to fade away. Civil war/civil rights politics. Was a long time before Dixie got on board with the “party of Lincoln.”
