Texas governor Rick Perry - supporter of the Trans-Texas Corridor - said lots of things on a trip to Mexico today:
..."I don't think [immigration "reform"] is that difficult of an issue if Congress would have the maturity to sit down and really discuss it and cut out all of the mean rhetoric and really talk about what is a solution to this issue," Perry told a news conference.
Regarding immigration reform, Perry highlighted the importance of developing a foolproof biometric identification system to track individuals and to ensure that they pay taxes and "live within our laws."
Did I just hear boots off in the distance, or was I just imagining things?
He suggested offering renewable, 24-month visas for those who follow such requirements and "incarceration and/or deportation" for those who do not.
He added that, under such a system, he would support a "free flow of individuals between these two countries who want to work and want to be an asset to our country and to Mexico."
Since those are (I believe) two different countries, they will always have competing interests. Thus, it would appear that Perry foolishly thinks people can completely be an asset to both at the same time.
Perry also said Texas has given a blueprint for securing the U.S.-Mexico border to the federal government.
"We know how to deal with border security, and you don't do it by building a fence," he said. "You do it by putting boots on the ground; you do it by using the technology that's available ... and coordinating very highly with local, state and federal officials.
Why do our elected officials keep making trips to Mexico and making questionable comments there? A past example comes from WA governor Chris Gregoire but Nancy Pelosi set the gold standard back in 2003.
They’re terrified of him.
“You must be a communist. LOL
(Just trying to get with the program of outing those who dare question St Rick.)”
I’ve noticed that. Say anything to expose the facts about Perry and get accused of PDS. He is a wolf in sheep’s clothing who will say anything to get elected—a poser.
Now it starts on FR.
It started sometime back on FR. It will be interesting to watch the play and see how it develops over time if Perry becomes a serious contender. I’m looking forward to Sep. 3 to see what Palin has to announce and once she makes an annoucement things will fall into place as to the serious candidates.
That said I think Perry has to have this indept examination as he’s not a known entiety across the nation. Yes a lot of the GOP entities know him but the voting public doesn’t.
Time will tell and it certainly will be interesting to watch both on the national scene and on FR.
Then I am queen of the RINOs because I won’t vote for a nanny stater, knee jerk reaction, government knows what’s best for your children, special interest, open borders, illegal-loving elitist.
bttt
If you said the exact same thing about Romney or Huntsman you would receive high praise for telling the truth.
Guess I’ve seen too many pure hype candidates. I trusted my gut with Thompson and was proven right and my gut is saying the same again.
Well I’m queen of the RINOs because I won’t vote for this guy.
Thank you. It’s easy to pick sentences out of a speech or post what is heard on CBS/NBC/CNN/MSNBC.
It’s nice to hear the ‘rest of the story.’ Sometimes it explains the previous sentence, sometimes
it makes it worse. But a person cannot learn very much from sound bites.
After lurking and reading numerous posts and others I have found the same remarks and misleading posts all over the place.
Almost word for word right down to the links and punctuation.
Also discovered that a whole lot of these are from people from New Jersey, Illinois, New York, California,Washington, and Oregon.Makes me wonder if they are even open minded enough to look at all the stuff that is out there instead of believing everything fed to them.
Oh, and guess what camp (or supporters here) is pushing the ‘Bachmann’s husband is gay’ stuff?
“Hello. My name is Rick Perry. I was a democrat and ran Al Gore’s Presidential campaign in Texas.”
Yo Ricardo, are you trying to be Bush? you saw how that worked out,DUDE Who in the hell are you to give our Country away?
There you go again........
You want us to have McCain as our only choice?
His first priority will be repealing healthcare and creating jobs, but I am optimistic he will also have time to work on border security.
It appears from your posts that you know about as much about our border problems here in Texas and what Perry’s position is on those problems as a pig knows about Sunday...
