"We know how to deal with border security, and you don't do it by building a fence," he said. "You do it by putting boots on the ground; you do it by using the technology that's available ... and coordinating very highly with local, state and federal officials.

The same failed approach employed today that is totally ineffective and will never solve the problem.

And yet we have two examples of the approach that have been proven to work, a physical wall:

1. Southern California where a physical wall that Duncan Hunter was instrumental in getting completed has cut illegal immigration by about 90% in that region where the fence is,
2. Israel; where with the completion of the massive wall they have built, their internal security has increased dramatically with the occurance of suicide bombers decreased dramatically.

Get back to me when Rick "Open-Borders" Perry actually, sincerely, wants to do something about the Border.

Israel's border is protected by a fence not a wall. Actually it is 90% fence and 10% wall but only in select densely settled areas. The fence looks like this. It is patrolled and monitored in a serious way. Not just built and neglected.
