Can you imagine the excitement of Palin throwing her hat into the 2012 presidential ring?

Yes, I sure can.

If Palin's entry into the race were a movie about her, her extremely loyal supporters would predict that such a movie would be up there with Casablanca or Citizen Kane. (Post 22)

The excitement among her extremely loyal supporters would be enough to fill a quarter of each of 10 movie theaters for one week and then her candidacy would be hit by the cold, hard reality that her support is limited to a very small percentage of the total electorate. By the second week, the movie would be playing to nearly empty theaters.

The Undefeated debuted to $65,132 at ten locations over the July 15-17 weekend. This past weekend, its release grew to 14 locations, but business plummeted 62 percent to $24,664, averaging $1,762 per site. That put its total at just $101,382 in ten days, which means it's sold an estimated 13,000 tickets. But "demand across the country remains high," according to that press release. (Undefeated is not to be confused with Sarah's Key, a foreign language movie that opened to $115,708 at five locations this past weekend.) ..... To put these numbers into further perspective: The Undefeated's ten theaters on opening weekend yielded 159 showings. Using the current average ticket price of $7.86, that means the movie played to an estimated 52 people per average showing or at about one-fifth to one-quarter capacity. In the movie's second weekend, which had 211 showings, the per-showing average attendance dropped to 15.

"Sarah's Key": Foreign language filmed that outgrossed "The Undefeated", in only a single weekend, by playing in only half as many theaters.

In the Real World, outside of the Sarah Palin Adoration Echo Chamber, "The Undefeated" lasted two weeks in theaters before going to the DVD/Pay-per-view graveyard of failed films with a box office gross that was less than a foreign language film that was shown in only half as many theaters grossed over a single weekend.

That is exactly how a Sarah Palin candidacy would look like. It would shoot up and burst, like a Fourth of July fireworks, with lots of "Oooohs" and "Aaaaahs" from her very loyal supporters then, 5 seconds later, the very last glowing ember in the sky would fade away into nothingness.
