Sarah Palin: Quite appalling to be called a terrorist by Vice President

Posted by on Aug 1, 2011

Sarah Palin said that though Tea Party members are used to being labeled as racists and inciters of violence, she found it especially appalling that the second in command of the most powerful office in the world would say that Tea Party members are acting like terrorists.

Regarding the debt limit deal, she went on to say that while it is a victory to change the debate toward talking about the debt, there is much more work to be done. She does acknowledge that the debt limit deal is a step in the right direction but she doesn’t like giving what she believes may be the most liberal President in US history another 2 trillion dollars that we don’t have with no major reforms:

[Here's the interview of Palin on Greta a short time ago.]

Palin on Debt bill

That's fine, my net is slooow tonight, so I couldn't check.

Her actual words in context were far more positive than what you had quoted, I was just trying to help you understand why some were upset.

No biggie.

Here is the relevant portion of the interview:

Greta: "I'm sort of curious whether the american people will not sort of take a bow, those who are tea party activists, and go back to their lives which are very busy and very full and they're worried about their own lives, or whether they are going to take this victory and move on, I don't know."

Palin: "I think that we shall take this victory and make sure that our politicians in office today are learning from this victory, realising that it's not a 100% pure genuine victory, because realise, greta, we just handed the most liberal president, I believe in US history, a 2.4 trillion dollar debt increase, we are allowing him to increase the budget even more, and without without guaranteed cuts and without guaranteed reforms and we have to make sure that we realize that yes, this is a victory because tea party patriots did shift the debate however there is so much more work to do in order to get the economy back on the right track and to restore the exceptionalism that is America.

It is clear that Greta believes the Tea Party should "take a bow" because of the bill that was just signed. And she wonders whether they will now GO HOME. Sarah clearly says there's a lot more work to be done. But she does NOT dispute that we just had a victory.

I don't think Sarah Palin is that hard to understand, but it never ceases to amaze me how many interpretations people here have for what she says.

She hasn't said whether she thinks we could have won a bigger victory by rejecting the bill, so you are right about that. We'll eventually know -- if she calls for primaries against "tea party" house members who voted for the bill, that would indicate she didn't support voting yes for the bill. But she didn't say anything in this interview to suggests she disagrees with the decision they made to vote for the bill, or against the bill.

She simply says that tonight conservatives should consider this a victory, not a defeat. Since we can't re-live the night with a rejection of the bill, we'll never know if she would have considered voting the bill down a victory or not.

One thing is clear -- she doesn't believe conservatives should feel shafted, or that we lost, or were screwed over by the results -- she says we "WILL TAKE THIS VICTORY" and build on it.

I don't expect to see Palin attacking West and Ryan like some people here.

This Class member hasn't.

Admittedly, I painted with a broad brush, but the number of '98ers running off the rails has been significant recently.

It's hard not to like all three. They are three of the best conservatives we have.

Good night! When self-deprecation causes one to call oneself, a “member of the cracked head club,” I would question Joe Bite-me’s fitness to be in office. This man has not only failed to grow up, he is not even potty trained!

I think others saw the post of Carling and thought he was agreeing with you.

That didn't help. I should be able to watch this in the morning, thanks for the link..

It’s your site, you can do anything you want. As I don’t support Romney, and haven’t for a long time, and support Palin, and have for a long time, it seems like the easy way out to call me names just because I have an interpration of what Sarah Palin said.

And as I have no intention of violating the rules you have set for your site, I don’t anticipate being banned for violating the rules.

I presume though that I am still allowed to disagree with things people say, and will continue to do so within the bounds set by the rules, and if I get banned for speaking my minde, that’s just the way things are.

I understand that some people have been posting misrepresentations of what Sarah Palin said tonight, so maybe nerves are a bit frayed, but I’m quoting her words, as are some others here, and I can’t imagine quoting Sarah Palin will get me banned here, at least not for a while anyway.

I saw the Palin interview and heard an interview with Rand Paul on Mark Levin AFTER the deal was passed in the house. Paul was pretty subdued too. My guess is they don't want a civil war in the GOP as that would assure Obama’s reelection.

One can post actual words and still not post the full context. Certainly, since you been here so long, you must know that.

If you've been here for any length of time, you would know that people post pieces of articles, interviews all the time. I didn't feel like commenting on Biden's terror comment either...so what?

Dude, you said that you posted Palin's actual words. I simply pointed out to you that posting actual words doesn't always mean that you are posting full context.

Your response misses the point.

This could hopefully be the liberal outrage, which prompts Guv Palin to get off the dime and get in the race.

100% in her corner, but getting impatient.

Let’s get this started, Guv. We’re ready out here.

Doesn’t Matter. Let him talk. Do a 24 hour Biden channel. The more people see the proof of lunacy, idiocy and moral bankruptcy on display, the more they have to makes decisions. Senate and Presidency fall conservative in 2012. The folks in power now are like roaring lions watching for someone to devour, and they will squirm and rage more and more as 2012 gets closer. But their days in office are numbered and they are going to be out of work themselves. Just be prepared for them to trash the pace before they leave the party and mom and dad get home. And things like the vote today? Irrelevant. Bottom line is this. The tea party in 1/3rd of the branches ( not counting the 4th rail media) of govt. was able to control the debate AND the news cycle. The more trash talked not hem, the stronger they get. Just like Sarah Palin. They just don’t have both house and senate yet. The winds of change are already blowing, and its getting cold up the pants legs of the bad guys. They are officially on job loss countdown. Fear no evil!

I like what she said. I have found that there are several responses when Palin says things people don’t like; attacking those who report it, saying she didn’t mean it, saying they misinterpreted it, or saying that she was forced into it. I think one thread had all 4 of those the day she endorsed McCain for the Senate.

Yeah Charles, those are such common responses by Governor Palin's supporters here on FreeRepublic, I'll bet you can find at least 100 examples, right?

Well if not 100, how about 80?

60?

Well, at least 40, right? with all the myriad of articles about Sarah Palin you should easily be able to prove your statement true by examples.

Why don't you prove your point with evidence Charles, lots of it since is such a common occurance by your standards.

That would certainly be a wild misstatement of what she said. I saw some of those threads a little earlier, and from the quotes being provided, it was clear those headlines were false — but I never got to post to any of those threads because they were all pulled.

This thread provided the video (although some of us missed the video posted at the link until it was pointed out — thanks to the freeper who let me know that privately), so it’s a good one to talk about what she actually said.

I’ve done a partial transcript, but I’m hoping there will be a complete transcript posted so we don’t get into an argument over the actual words.

I would argue that she thinks we could have done better, that there are bad things in this bill, but that “on the whole” she see this bill, and the entire process, to be a victory for the tea party patriots.

I also don’t believe she thinks West and Ryan sold us out, she certainly hasn’t said that and we know she will speak her mind.

I’m kind of sorry to be in this thread, because I see that there are a lot of frayed nerves from the earlier posts, so it makes it hard now to argue that she did speak somewhat positively about things, to those who think she was more opposed to it.

I don’t think she thinks we should be discouraged, or feel like we lost. Another poster said she was just trying to make us feel better, but I think it’s more than that, I think she thinks we SHOULD feel better.

I don’t think Sarah would tell us we should take a victory, if she thought it was a defeat.

Dude, you said that you posted Palin's actual words. I simply pointed out to you that posting actual words doesn't always mean that you are posting full context.

Was just pointing out the areas where Palin used the word victory in conjunction with the bill. That is all.

If someone wants to post a thread showing where she emphasized the bad parts of the bill fine by me.
