I have a Jurrasic laptop running Windows ME. Symantec no longer supports ME. Can some Freeper suggest an anti-virus program that would run on ME?

Thanks.

Truly and absolutely stumped on this one.

HEre is a good list of all the better AntiVirus programs on the market:

My first answer is to find a very small linux distro made to work on older hardware.

"My yahoo toolbar keeps disappearing and then reappearing. its driving me crazy."

Go to tools, then toolbars, make sure that the Yahoo toolbar is checked.

Windows Me was a great idea that shouldn’t have happened.

Replace your computer. It’s time.

It really cannot be protected with any modern antivirus software.

ME hasn’t been supported for years, and virus’s have advanced tremendously in that time.

Is there any way you might be able to upgrade to upper Jurassic or, say, Cretaceous hardware?

Install either Trend Micro USA's 'HijackThis' or avast! Antivirus.

Get a new laptop. Walmart or Costco. They're cheap. Thank me later.

In IE under “view” at the top there is a “toolbar” dropdown menu. Is “lock the toolbar” checked?

You might check Windows Essentials. It seems to have low overhead. I use it on my XP laptop.

Jurrasic laptop running Windows ME.

There are 27,000 laptops for sale on Ebay.

I bought one recently for $150.00 running XP. Don't bid high, if you lose a bid, there is another just like it coming 30 minutes later.

The best anti-virus is Linux.

I like mepis and meego, both are easy and you don’t have to install if you don’t want to.

Are you running IE in full screen mode? That makes the menu bar disappear.

Try pressing the F11 key or clicking on the ‘restore’ icon in the upper right corner to exit ‘full screen mode’.

Puppy Linux runs in as little as 256MB RAM and does not have to be installed either.
