.....Having been a watcher of Rick Perrys career for many years, and having served with him in the Legislature, I believe that much like the leopard, his spots do not change. First of all, Perry is an opportunist; and a very lucky one at that. Perry got elected as a Democrat and switched to the Republican Party to run for Agriculture Commission after having advocated the end of that office because the incumbent had the audacity to insist that farmers reveal to farm workers what poisons they were spraying on them in the fields.
Perry got elected Lt. Governor with the assistance of the Bush family in a year when there was a Republican tsunami. Mom and Pop Bush got on television and told Texas that Rick Perry was like a son to them and ought to be elected. He narrowly outdistanced State Comptroller Sharp who had reaped national claim in office as an excellent public servant.
Perry walked into the office of Governor by default when George Bush went to be president of the United States. Ironically enough, in a five-person race, in which the Bush family switched their loyalties and supported Kaye Bailey Hutchinson, Perry managed to get elected Governor of this state with 38% of voters voting for him and 62% voting for someone else. Nonetheless, Perry took it as a mandate and took a sharp turn to the right, consolidating the far-right base and demanding strict loyalty of all of his appointees, which by the most recent election was 100% of the state appointments. The bottom line is that while Perry has been praised for his political acumen, most of it has been luck and timing.....

I do not believe that Perry has a chance in hell. He might be the 2nd coming of Ronaldus Maximus but he is the sitting governor of Texas. He wont get he nomination because after the last governor of Texas to become President, what I refer to as The Great Disappointment conservatives are not going to trust him, fair or not.
If by some miracle he GOT the nomination, hed lose to Obama because all that would need be said is Governor of Texas and your average ignorant and loving it American voter will think Bush and run screaming for four more years.
Its not right, its not fair, it just is.
I have no use for Rick Perry, but I have even less use for peddlers of the global whatever hoax.
If the Left said nothing about Perry, I’d be worried.
Soooooo. People will vote for the biggest human disaster of our lifetime rather than the sitting governor of the only state producing jobs? I see. They won’t vote for perry because the last guy from Texas had 5% unemployment, but they won’t think twice voting for the guy with 9% unemployment.
People should take a look at that clip and then ask themselves what the chances are that Perry could be Obama in a general election.
Democratic Party #1 and #2 money and muscle supporters are teachers and trial lawyers and both groups are after Gov. Rick Perry's scalp.

"Trial Lawyer Money Floods Texas Political System"
The Money Trail
A clear, straightforward system for reporting campaign finance contributions is essential to the publics ability to participate knowledgeably in elections. The Texas Legislature has established the framework for such a system and the Texas Ethics Commission maintains it. When transparency is missing, or the contributions and disclosures are concealed, the public is not aware of the significant contributions impacting a particular race ... and the public should know.
This report focuses exclusively on contributions by plaintiff lawyers to state officeholders and candidates. These lawyers, however, are major players in federal elections and local and county races. As such, a broad discrepancy exists between the influence trial lawyers wield in our political system and their revealed financial activities.
Further complicating any attempt to chronicle the size and scope of political involvement by plaintiff lawyers is a myriad of political action committees through which they funnel money. Innocent sounding names disguise the fact that these PACs are actually additional trial lawyer conduits. Several of their surrogates include: Texas 2000, Constitutional Defense Fund, the Carl A. Parker PAC, and the Lone Star Fund.
These PACs serve a dual purpose for the plaintiffs bar: They conceal from the public and the casual observer that the funding for specific campaigns originated with trial lawyers. And, they make it almost impossible for researchers to definitively link the source of contributions with its ultimate recipient.
A Single Interest
The plaintiffs bar consistently portrays itself as the champion of the little guy. The advocate of the average citizen who has been injured, swindled or taken advantaged of by business and without whose legal assistance grievous wrongs would remain uncompensated and harmful corporate practices would continue.
This characterization is inaccurate because it conveniently paints an incomplete picture.
In reality, plaintiffs attorneys look to file lawsuits against large corporationsthey invariably go after the deep pockets. The hysteria over moldand its consequential increase in home insurance ratesis the latest in a long line of trial lawyer targets. Next in their sights: fast food restaurants.
The wealthiest plaintiff lawyers hunt constantly for new areas of litigation, and the more potentially lucrative the better. With the little guy out in front, these trial lawyers use the law and our courts to mine corporations for personal financial gain.

I have no use for that illegal lovin’ globalist either.
CFR-Rick will not be the nominee.
Guaranteed.
Yes, you are right...he can’t announce before...it’d look terrible if he did...but praying for the USofA...at the end he’ll announce. He has to announce at least a week before the Ames Straw Poll...and that puts him a week before the straw poll.
Rick Perry has a lot of supporters in Texas. Yes, he throws in something a little less “tea-like” now and then, but overall, he has represented conservative principles throughout his state time again, and his record on state rights makes me like him that much more.
I do believe the Texas / Bush / Perry connection might be used by the Democrats, but personally, I don’t think it will make much difference. This man stands on his own two feet quite well and has a funny way of distancing himself from G.W. just enough that people will be able to see HIM for what he is aside from being a fellow Texan.
Perry was my state legislator, three decades ago, and I'd welcome him into the fray, as soon as possible. Someone needs to take point, and become the face of the counter-revolution.
Since West and Christi aren’t running, I believe Perry is the only real conservative GOP candidate that would handily beat Obama. And that includes Palin and, especially, Bachmann. Obama would mop the floor with Bachmann, I’m sorry to say. And Palin’s negatives are too high with independents.
Oh, I hope not. It would be extremely disrespectful to turn a prayer event into a political event. The only focus of the event should be prayer for our troubled nation.
“.....Having been [jealous] of Rick Perrys career for many years...”
Edited for accuracy.
You just sold me Carl.
I agree with you. I will not vote for crater face, Bilderberger boy, Rick Perry. He's as phony as a $6 bill.
He has to announce at least a week before the Ames Straw Poll...and that puts him a week before the straw poll.
Why must he announce a week before the Ames event?
