Fox paid $4.8 billion in taxes, MSNBC $0 (story worse than headline)
Daily Mail ^ | July 15, 2011 | Don Surber

The parent company of Fox News — News Corp. — paid the U.S. government $4.8 billion in taxes over the last four tax years (2007-2010).

GE, which owned most of MSNBC until late last year, paid zero taxes in 2010.

In fact, GE received a $3.2 billion welfare check from Uncle Sam.

From Pulitzer Prize winner David Cay Johnston:

(Reuters) — Readers, I apologize. The premise of my debut column for Reuters, on News Corp’s taxes, was wrong, 100 percent dead wrong.

Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp did not get a $4.8 billion tax refund for the past four years, as I reported. Instead, it paid that much in cash for corporate income taxes for the years 2007 through 2010 while earning pre-tax profits of $10.4 billion.

Dum de dum dum.

Hat tip: James Taranto.

From the New York Times:

General Electric, the nation’s largest corporation, had a very good year in 2010.

The company reported worldwide profits of $14.2 billion, and said $5.1 billion of the total came from its operations in the United States.

Its American tax bill? None. In fact, G.E. claimed a tax benefit of $3.2 billion.

No wonder MSNBC millionaires like Chris Matthews want more taxes.

Until recently, their employer did not pay them.

In fact, the Obama administration redistributed money from the parent of Fox News to the parent of MSNBC.

Getting a competitor to split his loot with you would send a thrill up anyone’s pants leg.

MSDNC has BOTH GE which pays no taxes
and David Gregory’s wife who is the lawyer coveringup
the Fannie Mae/FreddieMac catastrophe that destroyed
America.

No wonder MSDNC “news” leads with ... the weather.

Fox should change their label fro “Fair and Balanced” to “Fair and Balanced and Paying Taxes”.

That would make the Lefty pointy heads of the Left WIng Media go crazy.

Where is the spineless GOP on this issue?

They should demand why Immedlt paid no taxes, they should hold hearings, start throwing the work “Impeachment” around, having news conferences, press releases, etc...

Instead, they sit back like timid 5-year olds.

Or do they think the MSM is going to report this?

If it were the other way around, the MSM would be running this story 24/7

So when the ‘progressives’ call for the ‘rich’ paying their fair share, they mean for the opposition to pay the ‘progressives’ share, too.
Got it!

I heard an interesting view from a Greek-American recently.

He said that all countries were in effect an “Oligarchy”, and they just show up sooner in the smaller countries.

I think as a Republican voter and a Conservative Libertarian thinker, I would work to undue the ties or perceived ties to Corporate America.

I always find it amazing the way liberals use corporations in their class warfare rhetoric all the while their side are the ones bailing out corporations and giving tax breaks

Our side is just as guilty but never seem to have the stomach to point out liberal hypocrisy

I do agree wholeheartedly agree the literally whoredom between corp America and congress is one of the things that need to be fixed

Congress should not be sleeping with corporations just watching over them from afar not literally exchanging body fluids

How is this not a reflection of the fact that Fox is making a profit, and MSNBC is operating at a loss?

In order for a company to owe taxes, they first have to make money. I’m not surprised MessNBC paid no taxes.

How does that $3.2 billion compare with the check Uncle Sam cuts for PBS and NPR? Remember, defund 'em now? BTW, what's this "MSNBC" I keep hearing about?
