A family of seven on board a small plane were killed when it crashed in Alabama after an engine failed - leaving behind a 16-year-old daughter.
A couple and their five young children were returning to Florida from a family reunion in St. Louis, Missouri, on Saturday night when the crash happened, authorities said.
Fred and Terresa Teutenberg died, but her oldest child, Ashlei Bruewer, 16, was not on the plane.

Sad. RIP.
Prayers up for all.
My God. That poor girl. Pray for her.
Good folk are continually being killed in small plane crashes; but people keep flying in these death traps, thinking “it’s not gonna be me who dies.”
Prayers up for Ashlei.
Errrr... More folks die in their autos in one day than in a plane in a year.
My husband had always wanted to fly so a few years ago he took lessons got his license and was instrument rated. I went up with him one time and said no more. He flew alone for a year or so and then sold his plane and quit, he said it wasn’t any fun if I didn’t take trips with him.
Nice looking family, really sad.

That poor family and that poor girl. At times like this, it’s tempting to say “we have to do something”, such as, ban small children or whole families from flying in small aircraft, but families exactly like that took equal or far greater risks just being pioneers in this land at one point.
Indeed. At the end of this month Oshkosh will host the annual EAA fly in. The question always is how many pilots and their friends will be killed traveling to or from this air show? But, they keep coming.
My husband always says you should be wary about any hobby that has both the words Experimental and Aircraft in its title. LOL
Heartbreaking. RIP and they are now with the Lord.
Yep...probably a worse idea to have the whole family in a car. ya never know.
You still drive together in a car though, right?
In this case, the 16 yr old girl was the wife's daughter by a previous relationship or marriage. The five kids who died were the joint progeny of both this father and mother, so all the father's line was wiped out by one crash.
Those at the graduation gave him a standing ovation when he came up to accept his diploma. I understand another family took the boy in so he could still go to the same school.
Still, what a hard, hard thing to have to experience and imagine the guilt he carries with him unnecessarily.
More folks die in their autos in one day than in a plane in a year.Yes, but a lot more people drive cars than fly small planes. To make a more accurate comparison, one would have to take some kind of average, like, deaths per mile, or deaths per hour of travel.
It’s a shame they weren’t in that Cirrus SR22, because then they would have at least had the BRS to fall back on. Of course, there are not enough seats on the Cirrus for such a large family. I don’t know if there are any general aviation parachute equipped six-passenger aircraft.
Oh Dear God! This is awful.
