Rick Perry may just be the guy. The country's longest tenured governor, from its second largest state, is generating a lot of buzz in conservative circles as he contemplates entering the wide open Republican presidential primary. There are plenty of reasons that Perry is an attractive option: he is a no-nonsense decision maker with solid conservative credentials. A man who not only speaks about family values, but lives them, Perry's power to persuade voters to see things his way is proven -- battle tested in a state known for independent-minded citizens.
But what serious political analysts on both sides of the aisle will acknowledge as perhaps Perry's strongest attribute heading into 2012 is the stark contrast that would be evident in a potential Perry-Obama showdown. While Republican frontrunner Mitt Romney capitulates to the left on global warming, refuses to sign a pro-life pledge, and ridiculously defends the RomneyCare failure in Massachusetts, the media is working overtime to tout their choice,

Perry used to run for office as a Democrat.
I thought SCOTUS did that?
Anyways, he was a Democrat for most of his life.
Pssst: The greatest conservative president in American history was a former Democrat.
I want to find a committed conservative for President. Not someone who is a recent convert (wasn’t Perry TX chair for Al Gores Presidential run once?)
I know.
As I was reading this “article”; I was wondering - who wrote this?
Rick Perry’s press agent??
Pssst............
I couldn't help it, I had to laugh.
Up until the late 70s, pretty much everyone was a Dim in Texas. So was much of the South.
Perhaps you are forgetting Reagan’s 11th Commandment: “Thou shalt not speak ill of thy fellow Republicans.
Who’s your horse?
Pssst ~ he never ran for office as a Democrat!
We aim to please. All of those looking for the elusive "flawless candidate" will ultimately be disappointed.
I want the most conservative I can get who can move that S.O.B. Kenyan Imposter out of the White House. I’m wiling to “settle” if the ObamaMessiah is shown the road.
Perry looks good, Bachmann looks good. Cain looks good. Palin looks good.
Not crazy about Christie, Romney, etc., but I can and will hold my nose to protect America. I have done it before.
If we stick to Simon Pure and refuse to back somebody who is less than ideal in the general election, we can look forward to another Bader-Ginsburg, Soto-Mayor, etc. on the SCOTUS to replace Kennedy as “swing” judge.
VERY BAD.
Here's a problem I have with a certifiable partisan RINO ~ on his way up as a Democrat there were Republicans on our side who had to lose for him to get elected.
Frequently a single loss will pitch a perfectly sensible Conservative off into different career pursuits. Perry's wins ruined the political opportunities of Conservative Republicans.
Now he comes over to our side when he senses that maybe we'll let him run as a Republican, and somebody does that, and he wins.
A dozen guys working their way up the ranks in the Republican party suddenly found their avenue to higher office BLOCKED by a Democrat, and this time one running under our label.
Add to that the fact that Perry fostered other Democrats along the way, and didn't foster Republicans, and you have some real good reasons to tell him to feel lucky we let him get this far.
RINOs must be stopped. We don't need them anymore. Perry is at a stage of life where we would be better of having him run in Democrat primaries against Obama ~ thereby saving us a fortune in later campaigns against that guy.
GARDASIL; The vaccine had an opt out for parents. The vaccine is against cervical cancer caused by certain variants of HPV. Parents had way over a year to decide to opt out. The Legislature gave the man appointed by and working for the Governor the sole power to determine which vaccines would be mandated.
The Feds had already recommended Gardasil and placed it on the Vaccines for Children list of vaccines free for Medicaid and indigent patients.
The Governor used this EO to make the opt out process possible and more convenient for more parents.
ME - My son had a reaction to the Polio vaccine - WHO mandated it? And - it was REALLY madated, not an opt out.
The TTC has been in the works many years before Perry appeared.
Perry apologist.
Perry’s a RINO, trying at the last minute, to court the conservatives.
If he is sooooooo concerned about the border, they why didn’t he use the power of the Gov’s office to call out the national guard to deploy on the border?
Because he would rather play both sides against the middle.
The only way perry could get elected in Texas is to run agaisnt the only more clueless - a Texas Democrat
