One might expect to hear the term flake bandied about in a private conservation when talking about another person not present, but it is not a term that often comes up on Sunday morning public affairs talk shows especially so directly.
However, on Fox News Sunday, it was a description moderator Chris Wallace asked 2012 Republican presidential candidate Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann, who Wallace said has a reputation in Washington of making questionable statements, to respond to.
Finally, lets talk about Michele Bachmann because and you say its interesting, Wallace said. You say that people saw in the debate, saw you as a serious person. I dont have to tell you that you have that the rap on you in Washington is you have a history of questionable statements, some would say gaffes ranging from talking about anti-America members of Congress, to on this show a couple of months ago when you suggested that NATO airstrikes killed up to 30,000 civilians. Are you a flake?
Bachmann called the description insulting and explained why that wasnt a fair term to use to describe her.
Well, I think that would be insulting to say something like that because Im a serious person, Bachmann said. [W]hat I would say is that I am 55 years old. Ive been married 33 years. Im not only a lawyer, I have a post-doctorate degree in federal tax law from William and Mary. Ive worked in serious scholarship and in have worked in the Unites States federal tax court. My husband and I have raised five kids and 23 foster children. Weve applied ourselves to education reform. We started a charter school for at-risk kids.

These pinheads really need to realize these programs are broadcast outside their precious beltway.
She said this on May 1. She was referring to civilians killed in Libya by NATO.
Here is a video.

>Michele Bachmann should be asking Chris Wallace if he is the flake.<
.
But that is exactly the problem with conservatives — they don’t dare to be confrontational. They all want to be perceived as cultured ladies and gentlemen.
It won’t work, you dummies! Consider who you are up against. Unless you are willing to get rough with them, you’ll be sucking hind t*t and not getting anywhere.
What does that even mean?
She should have added,”And what are your accomplishments, Chris? If it weren’t for your surname, you wouldn’t have a job.” Conservatives are going to have to start hitting back instead of letting dipwads like Wallace get away with insulting them. Back in the days of duels, one didn’t have this problem.
Even though I’’m not Bachmann’s biggest fan thats a low blow.
He is a jerk. I hope Bachmann refuses to go on his show again.
Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) got her facts confused Sunday while objecting to President Barack Obama’s decision to participate in the military action against Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi.
The Minnesota congresswoman told Fox News’ Chris Wallace that NATO airstrikes had killed up to 30,000 civilians in the country.
“People should be outraged at the foolishness of the president’s decision,” she said. “He said he wanted to go in for humanitarian purposes and overnight we are hearing that potentially 10 to 30,000 people could have been killed in the strike. Those are some of the reports.”
“The NATO strikes killed 10,000 to 30,000 people?” an incredulous Wallace asked.
“A report that came out last night from the Tripoli ambassador said that potentially there could be 10,000 to 30,000,” Bachmann insisted.
“You mean the Libyans?” Wallace pressed.
“Yes,” Bachmann replied.
“You think Muammar Gaddafi is a reliable person?” Wallace wondered.
“I don’t think anyone thinks that. President Obama, his doctrine was to enter in Libya for humanitarian purposes. The point of what I’m saying is that we are see many, many lives lost. Including innocent civilians’ lives. What will be the ultimate objective and gain? I don’t see it. I think it was a foolish decision to have gotten involved,” Bachmann said.
In fact, the tea party-backed lawmaker seemed to be referring to a statement made by U.S. Ambassador to Libya Gene Cretz last week.
Cretz had said that U.S. officials believed that 10,000 to 30,000 had been killed by fighting between Gaddafi forces and the rebels, not NATO airstrikes.
To his credit, Wallace corrected Bachmann in a later segment.
“I just want to clear up, because we looked into what Michele Bachmann had been saying. She quoted the U.S. ambassador to Libya saying 30,000 people had been killed in the NATO strike so far. In fact, what Ambassador Gene Cretz said is that he estimated that 30,000 people had been killed by all sides in the entire conflict. That includes the rebels and the Gaddafi forces. So big difference,” he said.

Funny - don’t remember wallace ever ask the same thing of obama.
The look on Michelle’s face was one if looks can kill. That was an entirely inappropriate question by Wallace. He needs to apologize to her.
She has a juris doctorate, which is a law degree, and she has an LLM in tax. The LLM is a masters degree which she got AFTER the law degree. So, yes, she has a post-doctoral degree in tax.
Well, I would accept his apology. One thing this proves is that even a “genius” LOL, like Chris, really is very stupid at times.
How many times was it said about Obama that he was a socialist and totally unqualified to be President?
I can remember that being talked about quite often but then Chris never bothered to confront him with that little fact on National TV.
Sorry Chris, apology accepted, but you really are very lame.
I would have to agree with you it’s hard to feel sympathy for a back stabber.
She got hit with the same kind of crap on Face the nation this morning. She needs to come out swinging on thses bastards. The only think I diodn’t like about Michelle this morning is when the mderator asked her if she called Obama anti American. She danced around that question instead of owning up to it. Obama has made plenty of statements that were anti American. She is going to have to get a lot tougher if she wants my vote.
I like Michelle Bachman a lot, and don’t think she is a flake, though some in the beltway have used that term to describe her. I believe that Wallace used the word in the context of what others have said, not his own opinion. His apology and explanation made sense. He should have said, “A few in the beltway have accused you of being a flake. Are you?”, but since he phrased it so poorly, he deserves the criticism. He also said she gave a strong and good response, that gave credence to her credentials. Like Wallace said, it’s the answers that are important, not the questions, and I enjoyed her answers.
Thank you. That clears it up.
I just can’t figure out why none of these pixies in the MSM ever ask Barry Soetoro if he’s a flake. Most Americans would say that he is.
Also as far as Romeny, why is Bachmann the only one who is called a Romney stooge? Why aren't people complaining about Herman Cain or any of the other candidates not taking Romney on? The primary is a long ways off and most likely we don't have the full field yet. There is A LOT of time for the other candidates to take on Romney. Seems to me this criticism is just Palin fans bitter that Michele Bachmann threw her hat in the ring. There wasn't the hatred of her around here before she started thinking about running for president.
DEMS are NEVER confronted on their stupidity. Why doesn’t the idiot Wallace ever ask Barney Frank that question, or anyone in the Black Caucus, or even the messiah himself?? Screw these liberals and their questions.
