14 Reasons Why Rick Perry Would Be A Really, Really Bad President
The American Dream ^ | 6-24-11 | American Dream

A number of Pro-Perry articles have been posted today, with some comments saying "no, no, no". Here's the other side of the coin.

Supporters of Texas Governor Rick Perry are not going to like this article at all. Right now, Republicans all over the United States are touting Rick Perry as the "Republican messiah" that is going to come charging in to save America from the presidency of Barack Obama. Many believe that if Rick Perry enters the race, he will instantly become the frontrunner for the Republican presidential nomination in 2012. Perry certainly looks the part and he knows how to give a good speech, but when ordinary Americans all over the country take a hard look at his record, they may not like what they see.

Perry’s in the class with Romney, Pawlenty, Huntsman, Gingrich, and Johnson (did I leave anyone out?) called “The Good Ole Boys” Class. I don’t want ANY of them running.

I will accept Palin, Cain and Bachmann...in that order.

“Republican messiah?”

Is that like saying the “Republican Obama?”

Didn’t Perry start his career as a Democrat, only to switch to Republican when he saw the GOP taking Texas?

The only ones that really bother me are the first couple about taxes and debt.

The rest is vague and probably not really anything Perry himself had much to do with, or basically conspiracy theory stuff.

1. Gardasil

2. Trans-Texas corridor

3. Weak on illegal immigration

4. Because of #3, he can see Mexico from his house

5. Taking credit for external conditions: he did not singlehandedly create the business climate in Texas

6. Empty suit : the lieutenant governor in Texas has all the power

7. Hair looks a little too much like Mitt Romney

8. After LBJ and GWB, the last thing we need is more Texans

9. He only came up after it was clear that Mitt Romney and Jon Huntsman had failed to stop Palin

10. It's Palin's turn

Cheers!

He was chairman of AlGore's 1988 presidential campaign in Texas. That's all I needed to know about him.

Hey, Rick Perry served as Al Gore's
Texas campaign chairman in 1988.

Doesn't THAT shrewd insight count for anything?

A second reason would be that it would finally get him out of Texas government.

More astroturf from some unknown website set up to destroy anyone threatening the status quo ???

Perry was the first to take on Obama outside of Sarah so all this over the top “ he is evil “ nonsense is pure astroturf from either the Soros puppet drones trying to pick our candidate or Mittens paid posters!

Please spare us the tired AstroTurf posts from strange internet sites !

all true and yet, compared to Obama he is a Washington or Jefferson....

and compared to a McCain he is an Eisenhower or at least a Bush 43...nothing spectacular but in the final analysis, he is NOT Zer0bama...and that is huge, in and of itself...

True enough, but to be fair, at that time Gore was regarded as a “Southern” style Democrat.

Also, if you figure the timeframes, that was 24 years removed from 2012.

24 years before Reagan was the nominee, in 1956, he was still a Democrat I think, as well.

To clarify, Perry has issues against him, but this really isn’t one.

Here's what's going on with Perry.

When Daniels' wife said no, Gingrich committed political seppuku, and Romney doubled-down on Romneycare in Boston, the GOP-E panicked (again) and approached his staff (it's always the staff!) to begin whispering sweet Presidential pillow talk in his ear, just like they did with Bachmann over Christmas.

The calculation is that Perry is conservative enough for the base, and that because he is friendly with Palin, she might be convinced to not run and support Perry instead, hoping that the energy and enthusiasm of her millions of supporters can be transferred to Perry while pushing her off the stage. Won't happen, but that is the latest plan.

Perry's sudden emergence is no coincidence, and everything the GOP-E does in this election cycle MUST be taken in THIS context:

Next for GOP leaders: Stopping Sarah Palin

Never lose sight of what these hacks are up to...especially Rove who is pulling levers behind the scenes.

I’ll go the simple route: The GOP elite are pushing Perry in order to get Hispanic voters.

You could not be more wrong. The Gargasil injection order was an incredible abuse of power to reward a Perry crony with $40 Million of state spending to inject our daughters with the cervical cancer anti - virus.

Talk to some of the people that live here. Freeways being turned into toll roads and operated by Perry campaign donors and ofetn with foreign parent companies. The proposed Trans Texas Corridor got many posts from Texans about the corruption and natioanl security issues on this forum.

Perry started his career as a rat and he certainly is one of the most remarkably corrupt politicians in a State that has produced several of those. Talk to some of the TX FReepers and they are mostly less than enthused. I personally would vote for Julie-annie or McLame again before Perry got my vote.
