Palin Derangement Syndrome Strikes The New York Times ... Again
Fox News ^ | June 22, 2011 | Michael Goodwin

Palin Derangement Syndrome strikes again. The victim this time is dangerously contagious.

In a bombshell announcement, New York Times Executive Editor Bill Keller publicly confessed his sickness. OK, he didn't put it exactly that way, but you don't have to be a doctor to recognize the symptoms. Here's how he started a column in The Times magazine:

"If the 2012 election were held in the newsrooms of America and pitted Sarah Palin against Barack Obama, I doubt Palin would get 10 percent of the vote. However tempting the newsworthy havoc of a Palin presidency, I'm pretty sure most journalists would recoil in horror from the idea."

It's a paragraph worth parsing. First comes the backhanded admission that the "newsrooms of America" are overwhelmingly liberal. The 90 percent Obama vote Keller cites is consistent with surveys showing the vast majority of journalists tilt left, a fact that explains the warped coverage of government, culture, business and even sports in most major news organizations.

His second sentence condescendingly reveals Keller's agreement with the journalistic "horror" of the "havoc of a Palin presidency."

That's a huge mistake. As the supposed objective editor of the Times' news pages, he is giving license to his staff to go after Palin and, by inference, go easy on Obama. His not-so-subtle marching order is certain to find favor with ambitious reporters and editors hoping to please the boss.....

It amazes me that the so-called intellectuals on the left cannot get enough reading about the same story, over and over. Is there something new about this story?

How right you are! It is a source of amazement to me. They hate her yet they cannot get enough of her.

If they really thought what they’re saying they think about Palin....they’d be much LESS concerned or obsessed about her every thought, word and deed.

Trust me...they’re scared to death that she’ll run.

No matter WHO the GOP nominate - they will still be voted against by 90% of the ‘talent’ of the newsrooms.

That would be ten times the number who voted for Reagan.

Pray for America

BINGO!

And they will relish doing it. One of the reasons they love Romney so much (right now, anyhow) is because they are absolutely sure they have enough dirt on him to totally destroy him in the run-up to the general election.

But, if it's not Romney, it wouldn't matter a whit. Whoever the Republicans nominate will be painted as the epitome of evil.

Do they hate Sarah Palin because she was once a journalist? Do they regard her not just as an enemy, but as a traitor to their cause?

Tells me that 90% of Journalists are too stupid to find a regular job, so they join in an organisation that does all of their thinking for them.

And they probably also figure that in the unlikely event that he wins, he won’t be a threat to the liberal agenda.

she'd never get 10% of the vote, and that's why we use ink by the barrel disparaging her every single day... cause she's a nobody

IF Sarah runs they will run non-stop lies to make sure she will not win. they will assassinate her character—and dare I say it—even plot to assassinate her! To these clowns—Palin is worse than Hitler.

I guess the country is infinitely fortunate that journalists aren’t the only people allowed to vote!

I think they hate Sarah Palin not so much because they actually hate her, but because the left sees that she so effectively unifies the disparate elements of the left in their blind advocacy of nonsense.

Why else would the “Sarah is an idiot” story have so much longevity? What has she ever done to them? This is why this story is kept going.

I’m being serious, I think.

Intellectuals get to scoff and feel superior to her; even if they are pseudo-intellectuals. Even if they are idiots. She is such an easy target to feel superior to. She is such a collection of sound-bite put-downs. What she has is the inner confidence, comfort in her own skin, a tightly knit family, a comfort with her un-urban primitive environment. None of those things that are valuable skills in a dog-eat-dog urban intellectual environment. So many things to be jealous of but the total inability to admit such envy.

If they are inclined, women get to feel unbridled full-on jealousy for her, and it is such a multi-dimensional bath in emotional “fulfillment”, it is a storm of emotion. I really saw this in a girlfriend I once had, by far the smartest woman I ever had a relationship with. She LOVED soap operas, which I never understood at the time. Now I understand that for her, it was taking a literal hot-tub in emotional soup. Women can feel full-on jealousy for her looks, her achievements, her family life, her abortion position, it’s a bonanza. And if you get an urban intellectual liberal woman she is such a target rich environment it’s ridiculous.

How corny: bus tour. It’s yet another example of how leftist pseudo-intellectuals cannot admit that they can not resolve the obvious dissonance in their positions. It’s always a competition to act like the conflicting constructs they are supposed to believe in work with each other and only an idiot wouldn’t be able to understand them. But to go further, to attack them, requires a true simpleton intellect and cruelty and lack of empathy for their fellow man that only Conservatives have.

And metro-men have to listen and obey, because that’s all they can do.
