Troops Get Kinetic Action Pay

Obama said it. His Secretary of Defense said it to Chris Wallace–the combat actions in Libya don’t count as “hostilities” and thus, do not fall under the War Powers Resolution. Showing off his puckish sense of humor, Gates said Libya is a “kinetic action”, not an actual war.

The Pentagon, however, disagrees. Troops engaged in the Libyan Kinetic Military Action are receiving combat pay.

"The Defense Department decided in April to pay an extra $225 a month in imminent danger pay to service members who fly planes over Libya or serve on ships within 110 nautical miles of its shores."

Obama yet again gave us a glimpse of his brilliant legal mind when he argued that the action in Libya can’t possibly be considered “hostilities” because the Libyan military is so unimpressive.

When oh when will the rest of us catch on that the law simply does not apply to this president.

It’s been clear from the beginning that Obama thinks honesty is a joke; he derives a perverse pleasure - apparently the only sort of pleasure of which he is capable - from thumbing his nose at both congress and the American people.

How far we’ve fallen as a nation.

Dear Gates; I would like to stick my boot up your ass. Let’s just call it a kinetic shoe shine.

As I recall, even though we all called it combat action pay, the correct term used on the LES (Leave and Earnings Statement) calls the pay "imminent danger pay". So, you don't just get it for declared wars. I've gotten it for places like Somalia which were supposed to be "humanitarian missions". It's a joke. We were not awarded a combat action ribbon in Somalia because it was a humanitarian mission. Even though we were in firefights all the time. However, we did get a humanitarian medal for it....
