In the wake of a dazzling debate performance earlier in the week, confirmation of the positive impression made on Republican primary voters has now arrived in the form of an almost fifteen-point move for Michele Bachmann , one that has her pulled-away from the second-tier pack and now growing larger in Flipper's rear-view mirror...
________________________________________________________________
A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey of Likely GOP Primary Voters, taken following the candidates Monday night debate, shows Romney earning 33% support, with Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachmann a surprise second at 19%. Georgia businessman Herman Cain is in third place with 10% of the vote.
Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich picks up nine percent (9%) support, followed by Texas Congressman Ron Paul with seven percent (7%), ex-Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty at six percent (6%) and former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum also earning six percent (6%).
Former Utah Governor Jon Huntsman, who did not participate in the debate but is expected to announce his candidacy on Tuesday, gets two percent (2%) of the vote. Eight percent (8%) prefer some other candidate...
________________________________________________________________
As for relevance, imo Rasmussen is pretty much the only pollster one can take at face value... more on that -here-
Michele Bachmann is a true American patriot...
a Reaganite conservative to the bone... and a real firecracker,
just what this moribund party could use next year- n
ow watch the MSM hacks really lay into her with the rumors, innuendo, and spin... predictably, it's already started.
I for one am delighted to see the Bachmann surge... don't know about you, but here she's on the short list for 2012. Below we have Michele on Hannity a couple days ago with some thoughts on how the campaign is shaping-up:

There seems to be one name missing from that list of candidates...
Technically it’s a poll of the current candidates yes.
Just saying.

pure name recognition at this point and media crowning of ‘front runner’. Rudy and Hillary were clear front-runners this early last time.
Can he win? sure. Will he? Doubt it. It would take a massive failure on the part of the conservative options to see Romney walk away with this. He won’t do great in Iowa, but will likely win NH. South Carolina will have a huge impact as the winner there will likely be positioned to try to be the conservative option in the next few primaries, so hopefully someone will rise up and win that, and then we can can all combine our efforts to back that conservative to start our run to victory in November.

Simple. Name recognition. Includes people who are clueless and didn’t even watch the debate.

I LOVE Palin, and think she’d make a great president
BUT her negatives are way too high, the tour isn’t bringing them down, and a strong Bachmann candidacy keeps Sarah in Arizona... running for Kyl’s Senate seat. When you poll at 40%-negative all the time it becomes apparent that everybody who doesn’t hate you is going to have to vote for you if there’s any hope of winnin.
Just the truth as I see it- I wrote a Palin-Jindal 2012 article in 2008 just for the record... as much as it pains me to admit defeat, the MSM really did a number on Sarah Palin- it’s a crime too, a shameful one
But the reality is she’s been greatly weakened by all this mess... just like the Left knew it would do, true or not... they just came out flailing and never stopped

At some point, we need to quell our differences of opinion and get behind anybody but Romney. We could also use a stalking horse. Hopefully Giuliani gets in. He’d be good for about 10% of the vote mainly taken from Romney.

Huntsman may or may not deserve the Romney broad brush.
He’s been America’s ambassador to China. A post, which Obama offered Huntsman, many said at the time, to remove him as a potential GOP candidates in 2012.
Obama was rightly ticked off when Huntsman resigned as Ambassador to run.
IMHO Obama being ticked off, is an important reason to like someone. :)
To: Reaganite Republican; All
Polls at this stage are worthless..
I submit, for your inspection, the LA Times/Bloomber poll from June 12, 2007..which is just about where we are in this current election cycle.
Rudy Guiliani 27%
Fred Thompson ( who had not yet announced) 21%
McCain 12%
Romney 10%

I HATE it when our side admits defeat without really even fighting. Why do we let the MSM ruin and destroy Sarah. I hear it all the time. She cant win because the MSM has destroyed her. For me, it means I buckle down. Between the MSM and Sarah, I pick Sarah. If that is who we are fighting here???????

Polls at this stage are worthless. The polls might not be as worthless as some think. The leaders at that stage, Rudy and Fred, both ran horrible early campaigns and lost their support to others.
Rudy decided to basically sit the early primaries out until Florida, a strategy most everyone thought bizarre and it proved to be so. Fred delayed all summer and then finally entered the race in a big, boring fizzle.
After those two ruined their own chances with poor campaign performances, the next two on that list competed for the nomination. There are always candidates who perform worse than expected and better than expected, resulting in shifts that don't mean that earlier polls were inaccurate.

I agree. I think Romney peaks around 33%. If Bachmann is really only it to be Mitten’s VP then I will be sorely disappointed. I am a Sarah Palin fan and don’t buy the media has taken her out meme, but I could support others- Bachmann, Perry or Allen West. I would like our ticket to come from 2 of those 4.
