Governor Palin claimed today on the Fox Business Network that her e-mails validate her assertion that she opposed and killed the bridge to nowhere. Her e-mails do indeed validate her assertion. Notice that she has never denied that she changed her opinion on the bridge from her 2006 campaign. Here is what the Governor wrote in her e-mails about the Bridge:
"We can't afford it , the Feds wont pay for it, the general populace isnt placing it as a high priority"
"I hope folks know my intention is to continue to NOT support the nonsensical notion that the state can fund Gravina and/or Knik Crossing. If the feds cant fund these projects that have minimal public support, then theyre not going to happen. I am very frustrated to hear that funds are being spent on Gravina, still, yet the project does NOT have my support bc of the funding issues, long-term."
"Truly this could provide an opportunity for Congress to start discussing the nations priorities call me naive, but AK could/should lead in this discussion on public dollars paying for intrastucture improvements across the nation. Why CANT we offer to return the B2N earmark bc the state cant afford the project, and the feds wont be paying for it the grandious $350m bridge NOT going to happen on our watch."
"So ironic I told Leo, Tibbles, etc just yesterday that we MUST come out with a strong position against AKs perceived Bridge to Nowhere so we quit looking clueless and selfish across the nation and can clear up the perception that the Gravina project is the states priority. The $350m bridge is not our priority. The nation needs to be spending $ on fixing what we have Minnesota needs bridge money today more than we need a few Alaskans to perpetuate the nonsensicle notion that our Gravina earmark is more important than fixing aged infrastructure. We would gain so much if we get that message out there that the nation can pull, and work, together and make wise decisions on federal priorities
we should see that earmark redirected to Minnesotas tragedy bc [because] the Gravina bridge isnt going to happen on our watch anyway.
The argument that radicals in the Democrat Party have pushed about Palin and the Bridge to Nowhere is that she only killed the project out of the political expediency. Well, these e-mails show that she killed the bridge for reasons other than political expediency.
Before I knew how to do a screen capture, the democrat party there used to have it on their web page, that Palin stopped the project, but they took it off a couple of days after she became the veep candidate.
The NY Grimes will be all over this!
Sarah owns ‘em!.....lol...and Id advise them not to play poker with her either
They still make a great team.
Lets get them together again!
What a loon you are.
Apparently that money is voted on in Congress every year but Alaska has never used it. DC ok’s the funds for it. Yearly.
How about Palin/Cain?
These emails prove that Palin is the exact opposite of the caricature the media made her out to be.
Meanwhile the left continues to get their “news” from SNL, The Comedy Channel and Media Matters.
Dear Media Moguls,The above is part of an even more extensive group of emails posted here for anyone wanting the truth. The emails show she even tried to figure out how to give the money back, even though most of it (received during the Murkowski Administration) was "formula funds" not specific to the Gravina Island Bridge. The lawyers said it couldn't be done and Don Young was having a fit over it.I am Tom Miller, a reporter at the Ketchikan Daily News for the past 18 years. Ketchikan is the town on the other end of the Bridge to Nowhere.
Dont be fooled by bloggers or others saying Patin was inconsistent about the bridge when she was in Ketchikan, offering limited support for the project, compared to how she acted as governor, when she nixed it in its expensive form.
Here are stories written by our Ketchikan Daily News reporter, Scott Bowlen, about Patin in Ketchikan while running for governor, and what she said later when she cut the bridge from consideration. Ive highlighted portions I think are pertinent to her stand on the issue.
She emphasized reasonableness and said at the beginning, in the first statement I know of on the topic, that the bridge, as promoted, was grandiose. Its important to realize there were about 13 alternative designs for this bridge. It was the community that insisted on the most expensive version for various reasons.
She killed this turkey before she ever met John McCain and long before the GOP nominee had been selected.
Trolling through her emails ... the gift that keeps on giving.
There is so much to love about Sarah. She is honest, witty, charming, a solid conservative and very beautiful. Her greatest asset is getting the Libs so upset that they froth at the mouth and piss all over themselves.
Read my #11. I think it applies to you.
Let me guess, you are one of those liberals that like conservative economics, but despises much of the conservative package.
Bump
I’ll bet he’s got a link from the Huffington Post that proves everything. Why the hell they let these people stay here and continue this trolling is beyond me.
A vibrant discussion and differing opinions are one thing, but do we really need people who come here to troll Palin threads and make DU-style arguments?
I could do you bird dogging for you, but that wouldn't help make you strong, and you might never break free of the cult.
