It is absolutely amazing how many excellent (often times brand new) barter items can be purchased at garage/yard sales for pennies on the dollar. I add to my stock every week from this source. Sometimes, I buy things (at the right price) that I will never use except as future barter. (As an example) A couple weeks ago, I bought a new heavy duty pair of leather welding gloves for $2.00.

Also, I had to chuckle when I saw the box with the vegetables in the first picture...did you notice that every nail in it was bent, lol.

I couldn’t get past the green squash and squash blooms to even notice how well the crate was made.

My late mothers told me that barter was quite common in the midwest in both the 1920’s and 1930’s.

Saw the entry for soap making, and wondered what could be used for that, then noticed that lawyers are not on the list.

“Seeds: ...Fresh Produce:”

Save your own seeds.
Sprouts are the easiest ‘fresh produce’ to grow.
However they must be made from food quality seeds (like the ones produced in your garden)as commercial planting seed is treated with poisons. Makes no difference in the full grown plant but can be deadly in sprouts.
Just about any seed or bean makes a nutritous, edible sprout.

Don't forget to file your 1099B (barter) to the government. That law went into effect during our last economic crises.

Oil Storage

Non Ethanol gasoline with PRI-G. If you don’t loose the light ends & add some new PRI-G each year, good for a very long time. Claim to bring low grade gas up to specs.

PRI-D for diesel

Barter networks that have formed in Argentina love to trade for anything made out of gold or silver, because precious metals are the only tangible form of currency in existence

Mainly because the rest of the world is still building up their supplies. But absent a full breakdown in international trade, the Chinese and Arabs will want real money for their products and there will be middlemen who will buy your PMs to use over there.

I think they're staples..not nails....

I'm saying it right now though.....OLIVES....good delicous OLIVES which I think last pretty much forever.....OLIVES being a luxury that people will pay for....

as far as Goodwill and garage sales....the funnies part of being a cheap skate is getting fantastic prices on things that are either brand new, gently used, or very sturdy and durable.....
