Congresswoman Michele Bachmann might think about dropping Ed Rollins now....
Greta Wire ^ | June 8, 2011 | Greta Van Susteren

Posted on 06/08/2011 1:43:21 PM PDT by GonzoII

The last thing Congresswoman Michele Bachmann should want as she considers launching a campaign for President is that she get dragged down into the gutter at the outset by a political consultant – Ed Rollins – who makes her look petty because he works for her.

President Ronald Reagan, who Republican candidates often quote, frowned upon Republican candidates trashing Republican candidates. What Rollins said that reflects upon Congresswoman Bachmann certainly is not the worst…but it was gratuitous and not responding to an insult. This early tactic (before the candidate even makes it official) is a strong indicator of what is to come from him. Is this how Representative Bachmann wants start her campaign..or run her campaign…. with a guy who just can’t help himself? and worse, a guy that makes her look petty?

A campaign for President should be about the candidates’ positions on issues and we have very important issues to discuss and debate. Rollins’ start with Congresswoman Bachmann makes him look like a has been resurrecting old tactics. She won’t look Presidential with him. She will look strong if she dumps him now and says “not my campaign.”

Rollins might be amused by his own remarks or think he is a big tough guy but I doubt Congresswoman Bachmann is impressed with him — she no doubt remembers the campaign boost she got from Rollins, target, Governor Sarah Palin. I have also spoken to Congresswoman Bachmann in the green room at Fox many times and she says she is passionate about the issues. She is strong and determined about the issues. This does not mean she should not fire back at someone who fires at her…but does she want to start the fights?

Let me repeat and emphasize: what Rollins said is NOT NOT NOT the worst..

Yes. She is crazy to choose this disgruntled dinosaur as an adviser.

He will only drag her down to gutter level, and above all, we need POSITIVE people running in the 2012 primary.

I was wondering why Rollins would get involved with Bachman. Maybe the “establishment” wants to get the conservatives fighting among themselves when they should be focusing on Romney.

Here's how Grassroots Republicans and Tea Partiers should react to Michelle Bachmann's choice of Ed Rollins as her campaign manager. Dangerous Liaisons

It is the single worst executive decision she has made in her life. She needs to fess up to it now if she wants to retain any credibility.

Regards,

TS

"Good advice, Greta"

Ditto. What Michelle Bachmann does not need is to be tied to the old guard, particularly one with a reputation as big as hers.

GOOD on Greta for pointing out that GOVERNOR SARAH PALIN (her friend?) went out of her way to help Congresswoman Bachmann during her last campaign.

Never let a good deed go unpunished!

I was wondering why Rollins would get involved with Bachman.

Because she paid him?

Seriously though, one of the biggest hiring disasters I've ever seen. It took him two days to move her from the up and coming to the crash and burn category.

If she dumps him quickly she’d be fine, otherwise she owns this mess and is done.

It is my understanding that Gov Palin’s inner circle has been with her for a long time. Mrs. Bachmann, on the other hand is reportedly on her 4th Chief of Staff in 5 years. While we can't know the internal dynamics of any organization, turnover is certainly reflective of the workplace climate. Mrs. Bachmann’s personnel hires don't happen in a vacuum. Certainly people within in the circles she runs in know that she may at best be “difficult to work with”. Given that it is entirely possible that Mr. Rollins was the best she could do.

The Puritans got a few things right: exclude from “decent society” for a time certain those whose choices reflect badly on that society.

Methinks shunning ought to be the policy for ANY Republican candidate or operative who takes a cheap shot at a Republican candidate.

I agree! Dump Rollins and be done with it or it will drag her down if it not already drag her down

He would get involved because she is paying him boatloads of money, that’s all he would need to get involved. She is a prolific fundraiser. Getting conservatives to fight among themselves would be useless unless the result was to bring down Sarah Palin. Instead, this stupidity is hurting Bachmann and indirectly helping Sarah, which is the last thing Romney would want.

She needs to call Sarah first and get her apology, then dump him.

Interesting! There’s so many threads now on this same subject, I may as well post my same thoughts. I should track VR’s posts to find those Rollins’ articles, but I have delayed my lunch 2 hours and I’m going to go eat right now before I get extra ornery...lol.

Bachmann’s campaign manager has started a mini-war and Bachmann has not seen fit to do anything about it.

It’s not unreasonable to think that Bachmann was unaware of Rollins’ previous anti-Sarah Palin columns/articles prior to her hiring him. Virginia Ridgerunner posted links and the titles to two yesterday or the day before yesterday.

It’s also not unreasonable to think that Bachmann knew about his reputation when she hired him, so let’s just say, he lived down to it right from the get-go and she has remained silent, and Rollins remains employed!

Rollins has had a history of intemperate moves and poor working relationships. He tends to alienate people in his own party beginning with Bush 41 and others to follow. This stupid attack on Palin is typical. Amazing he still can get any kind of job in politics any more.

Her silence speaks volumes.

I’m reminded of the attacks on Palin right after the election in 2008. Complete lies were being spun about her behavior and mannerisms on the campaign trail. This went on for days/weeks and not one word of support or defense from McCain during those attacks. His silence spoke volumes.

Michele Bachmann has spent her political capital. She is not and never will be presidential material. It would of been more fitting for her to actually fight to try and obtain speakership but at this time, I don’t give a damn what she does.
